The Heiress Who Took Revenge
"Those..." Elaine started to speak, but the words caught in her throat. Earlier today, Eliza had warned her that Tyson would undoubtedly make another move. She hadn't believed it then, but she believed it now. This man, Tyson, truly had no fear of prison. "It seems it isn't convenient for Ms. Lynn to speak," Halbert said smoothly as he drove. "I know my sister's actions have left you feeling resentful, but who can truly predict matters of the heart? It was our family that owed you first. If you are in trouble, tell me; the Sue family will certainly find a way to help." Hearing this, Elaine felt a spark of hope. That was right. Eliza was the one in her debt. Now that Tyson wanted her dead, the Sue family had a responsibility to resolve this mess. "Tyson wants to kill me! Halbert, you have to help—you can't let me die." "You and Tyson are already engaged. Why would he suddenly want your life? Could there be some kind of misunderstanding?" "There is no misunderstanding! He wants me dead to silence me!" Elaine bit her lip, her face pale. She grabbed Halbert’s arm. "I know Tyson only wants to marry me for my family's assets. To keep him from eliminating me after he gets what he wants, I found out his secrets. Now he wants my life because of it!" "Oh? What you’re saying sounds like something out of a thriller. But if he truly wants you dead, he’ll definitely try again. I can protect you for a moment, but I can't protect you forever." At those words, Elaine felt a wave of despair. If that was the case, was she destined to fall at Tyson's hand sooner or later? "I have to negotiate with him again tomorrow. How can he go back on his word?" Elaine hissed through gritted teeth. "I think going to see him is like walking into a tiger’s den," Halbert said, shaking his head. "You might lose your life before you even open your mouth. Why don't you tell me what secret you're holding? As someone living overseas, I don't interfere in Westbrook’s affairs; knowing his secret doesn't affect me either way. But if something happens to you during a confrontation, I can release the secret to the public and make sure Tyson follows you to the grave." Elaine’s mind was in a chaotic whirl. She actually found Halbert's logic sound. Eliza had suggested something similar, but Elaine hadn't listened then—after all, she didn't believe Eliza had her best interests at heart when they were former rivals. "Fine!" Elaine took a deep breath. "I’ll tell you. Years ago, it was Tyson who murdered the members of the Hayes family!" Halbert slammed on the brakes. His eyes narrowed dangerously as he stared at her. "What did you say?" "Years ago, Tyson was the one who set the fire that burned the Hayes estate to the ground. It wasn't Nolan at all! He also signed a contract with the Redemption organization. They helped him secure a massive share of the Hayes Group, giving him the power and status he’s enjoyed all these years. All his major connections were facilitated by Redemption." Elaine poured out every detail she knew. In her eyes, Halbert was her only salvation. She clung to his arm. "These are Tyson’s deepest secrets. You can't tell anyone. I just need you to use this to help me. If I confront him tomorrow and he tries anything, you have to release this news immediately." Though Halbert was stunned by the revelation, he knew that in the world of power, knowledge was useless without proof. He kept his expression neutral. "What you’re describing is a massive accusation. If you don't have hard evidence, mere words won't be enough to threaten a man like Tyson." "I have evidence!" Elaine pulled out her phone and signaled for Halbert to sync with her. While she was in Tyson's study, she had photographed every document in the safe, and every shot was crystal clear. She had multiple backups, terrified that Tyson might find a way to delete them. "This is the evidence. It records exactly what role Tyson played within the Redemption organization and the dirty work he did for them over the years. There is even a copy of a file Redemption holds as leverage over Tyson—I suspect they keep the original to ensure his loyalty."
