The Heiress Who Took Revenge

Chapter 665 Under the Veil of Silence

"Some of the guests here today are members of the Redemption organization. A setting like this is the only time we can move against them without drawing unwanted attention." "What?" Eliza had no idea that members of that shadowy organization were hiding in plain sight among the mourners. As she turned to scan the crowd, Tristan offered a small smile and took her hand. "Come. Let's head inside and take a look." Inside the chapel, several men were bound in a row. Ronaldo stood at the center of the altar, looking down at the captives with a cold, predatory gaze. "Are you going to speak for yourselves, or am I going to have to make you talk?" Ronaldo’s reputation overseas was not something to be trifled with. These men knew exactly what he was capable of. They exchanged panicked glances, but ultimately, none of them dared to open their mouths. "No wonder I didn't see Ronaldo earlier. He’s been here the whole time." Eliza hadn't expected Ronaldo to have already rounded up the members of Redemption. Tristan’s logic was sound: under the cover of a high-profile funeral, the Sue family had cleared out the reporters, banned all recording devices, and organized a banquet nearby to distract the other guests. It was the perfect smokescreen to move these people without a soul noticing. "It seems you have no intention of talking." Ronaldo stood up, reaching for a set of specialized interrogation tools, but Tristan spoke up. "Wait." Every eye in the room fixed on Tristan. Everyone knew him to be a man of detached indifference who rarely dirtied his own hands with such matters. But since this involved Emilia, there was no way he would stand by. Eliza followed closely behind Tristan, curious to see how he would handle this. Tristan walked up to the bound men. When they saw him, it was as if they were looking at a savior. They lunged forward as much as their restraints allowed, grabbing at his sleeves. "We have nothing to do with Emilia! Please, just let us go!" "Yes, exactly! We have no connection to her at all!" "We only made a few small investments! We don't know anything about a 'Redemption' organization! We've never even heard of it!" Despite their pleas, they were still refusing to divulge anything about the organization. Eliza’s brow furrowed. From their previous investigations, she knew the group’s ironclad rule: once you were in, you could never leak information. If you did, not only would you be executed, but your entire family would be wiped out as well. It was this extreme deterrent that kept everyone silent. Even a powerhouse like Wendy would never have talked if she hadn't successfully faked her own death. Tristan looked down at the men as if they were nothing more than ants. They watched him with hopeful eyes, praying he would order Ronaldo to release them. Instead, Tristan reached out and personally picked up one of the interrogation tools. The color drained from their faces instantly. "I generally dislike violence, which is why I usually leave these tasks to Ronaldo," Tristan said smoothly. "However, this matter is of grave importance. I believe I shall conduct this interrogation personally." Even Ronaldo was surprised. He couldn't help but interject, "I can handle this. There's no need for you to get your hands dirty." "Who among you would like to be the first to speak?" Tristan asked, ignoring the comment. The men exchanged glances, terror clearly etched on their features, yet they remained silent. "I am aware of the rules within Redemption," Tristan continued with a thin smile. "Once you join, no one—not even your spouse or children—can know of its existence. You are forbidden from breathing a word of it to outsiders. If you do, you and your kin are sanctioned. You lose your life's savings, and then you lose your lives." He paused, his smile widening slightly. "But you also know the reach of the Sue family. Since we have identified you, we know exactly who you are. If you refuse to talk, I have other ways to make you cooperative. I can promise you that the Sue family will find your families much faster than Redemption will—and I will ensure your end is far more agonizing." The men visibly recoiled, shudders running through their bodies. Tristan had successfully struck a chord of pure terror. "However, I have taken your safety into account," Tristan added conversationally. "That is why I brought you here today. I can guarantee that no one outside this room will ever know about this conversation. If you tell me what you know, you might avoid Redemption’s wrath. But if you refuse to tell me today... I can promise your fate will be far worse."
