Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Frozen Star territory Frozen Star Pack is a medium sized Pack about twenty miles away from Grand Valley Pack and is led by Alpha Ferdinand, a 6”1 male that has seen better years. He has managed to fly under the radar for many years and takes pride in getting away with numerous crimes. Grand Valley territory is a part of his Pack, but he has never set foot in the territory. He hates the layout of the territory and, like his Father, he has allowed nature to run its course through the territory. He is well aware of the fact that someone has settled in that territory, but has no intention of sending his Warriors out there to deal with it. He believes that whoever resides in the territory is harmless and their presence will not affect him or his leadership in any way. Some Alphas are plain stupid and no matter how you try, you can't fix stupid. Alpha Ferdinand is in his private office when he smells the scent of his Mate, the one his Pack-members consider their Luna. She is the Sister of his Beta and to the outside world, they have a good relationship, if only anyone would pay a little more attention around those two. “Ferdinand, Zaphara is refusing to follow my orders again.” Katreena whines as she opens the door. Ferdinand already knows that this is going to be a shitshow and he is glad that he is in his private office, away from prying eyes and ears.“What is it this time, Katreena?” Ferdinand asks, even though he doesn't want to get involved. “Landis needs his suits altered, he has become a bit broader and it shows when he wears his suits. She refuses to alter them, says it can't be done.” Katreena explains. Alpha Ferdinand isn't a man who follows the latest fashion, but he knows that Zaphara wouldn't say it can't be done if it could. Not that he will tell Katreena that, she doesn't need any more ammo to throw at him during their disagreements. “I will ask one of the Omegas to look at it. If she also says it can't be done, he needs to buy new suits.” Ferdinand states. He knows that it isn’t the answer Katreena wanted to hear, but she knows better than to disagree with him. Katreena slams the door behind her and moves down the hall, back to the room where Zaphara is living. “Bitch, you better start following my orders or I will have Milcah thrown in the dungeons.” Katreena says as she opens the door that leads to Zaphara's suite. Both women know that it is an empty threat, because Ferdinand doesn't want anyone to know about Milcah's existence. No Pack-member has ever seen Milcah and most believe that Zaphara left the Pack after she turned eighteen to find her fated Mate. “You can't threaten me with that and you know it. Ferdinand might value the outside appearance more, but he will never walk away from me or Milcah.” Zaphara says without looking up at the woman who stole her future. “Ferdinand is mine and has always been mine. Your Mate-bond is meaningless to Ferdinand; he picked me over you. My Son will be the next heir of Frozen Star Pack and not that useless thing you call a Daughter.” Katreena says. She knows that Ferdinand will never walk away from his fated Mate or his Daughter; he made that very clear before he announced her as his Luna and Mother of his heir. Milcah has heard everything from the other room, but doesn't make a sound. She has an ace up her sleeve and needs as much evidence as she can get. So, all she does is record every conversation and use it for her final plan. Milcah is homeschooled, just like Landis. There is a difference between them and when Ferdinand finds out, it will be too late for him to react. “You might be Ferdinand's fated Mate and he may refuse to sleep with me since he found you, but I gave him an heir.” Katreena finishes before she walks out of the room. Milcah has a small smirk on her face because Katreena just gave her the smoking gun, so to speak. She waits about ten minutes before she walks into their living room. She watches as her Mother keeps drawing in her sketchbook, another gorgeous gown that will never become a reality. It is the only thing that keeps Zaphara from acting out, imagining her Daughter in one of them someday. “How many did you finish today, Mom?” Milcah asks as she sits down. She knows there's a chance her Mom won't answer; it isn't unusual for Zaphara to turn into herself after a verbal attack from Katreena. It always amazes Milcah how much hate someone can have for another Shifter and all because she didn't turn out to be the Alpha's fated Mate. She knows the story and swore her Mother to secrecy, but she is going to break that promise to her Mom, real soon. Milcah prepares dinner, knowing her Mom won't be up to the task. Not because she can't cook, but because she is more affected by Katreena's words than she would ever admit to anyone. “FERDINAND.” Katreena roars when she hears that Landis needs to buy new suits, because multiple Omegas have told him that Landis' suits cannot be altered. Milcah and Zaphara look at one another as they hear cussing and swearing coming from down the hall. They look at the door to their suite before sitting down for dinner. Besides the cussing and swearing in the background, it stays quiet during dinner. Neither one says a word, nor do they need to address the situation that is going on down the hall. It is the same thing all over again. Katreena failed at turning Ferdinand against his fated Mate. No matter how often she tries to discredit Zaphara, it consistently fails to produce the desired outcome she was hoping for. None of the five people living on the Alpha floor knows when this might end, but for Milcah and Zaphara's sake, we can only hope that it happens soon.
