Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 68 Little Drama

Myka’s p.o.v. Thyrius growls in my head when we realize that Stella is checking us out, but Meadow quickly shoots her down. “Let’s hope that Myka and Makay understand your Pack-laws. I hear it is difficult for multiples to find a chosen Mate willing to share, but that is how it works with twins.” Meadow says and I see Stella look disgusted. “Don’t worry, Makay and I will wait for our fated Mate. I think he would rather worry about his Mate every second of the day, than take a chosen Mate like Stella.” I reply with a chuckle. I am not lying. After finding out that Rufus chose Stella over Meadow, we have been trying to find out what makes Stella so much better than Meadow. I can honestly tell you that we haven’t figured it out yet. If Rufus truly believes that rejecting your fated Mate for being a nobody is a good reason, I would like to meet him on the training grounds. Meadow looks at me with a smile on her face, she knows why Makay didn’t want a fated Mate like her. She also knows that we have been discussing his fears and I might have told her a little about our conversations. After lunch, Meadow walks to the meeting room that their Squad is using. Captain Miles is appointing members to certain tasks and they all sit down to do their duties without much trouble. Meadow sits down in the far corner of the meeting room and I see her taking out the journal from her Mother. “Let me know if you find anything interesting.” I tell her through the mind-link, before I make my way back to the training grounds. I need to take my mind off this Winston dude or I might lock Meadow in the dungeons. Thyrius and I don’t like that she wants to go after him. I doubt many of my family members want her to go after him. She is River’s baby Sister and Thyrius and I really like her, even though she scared the shit out of us in the dungeons. “The Squad going through all the information they have on Winston and Grand Valley territory?” Makay asks when he finds me in the gym pounding on an innocent punching bag. I growl as I hit it even harder, punching a hole in the bag. The sand has spilled onto the floor and I am staring at the sand with what I am guessing is a dumbfounded look on my face. “Okay, got it. Don’t ask Myka about Winston when he is pounding on a punching bag.” Makay says as he grabs a broom to remove the sand. “I doubt River and Misha like it that Meadow is going after that Idiot, but she can handle herself.” My head snaps toward Makay, who is gaping at me. “No, I didn’t say that out loud," he says as he shakes his head. We spent the next hour in the gym, completing our training routine. It has gotten more intense as we have gotten older and added more to our schedule to build more muscle. “How did she tell us apart?” Makay asks as we start our run around the territory. “No idea. She did say that she could tell us apart by our scent. I'm not sure how that is possible, though; I thought only our Mate could do that.” I tell him. After finishing our run, we head back to the Beta floor to take a shower. We crash on the couch in the living room, waiting until it is time to head downstairs for dinner. “Just two nights until the Full Moon and with the Squad here, we might find our Mate.” Makay says. “A part of me hopes that we will find here, but another part of me hopes I get a few more Full Moons to get used to the idea of not rejecting my Mate on the spot.” I smile at his words, but my Brother still fears he will reject our Mate when we find her. He will never admit it out loud, but I can read between the lines. He is afraid that it is ingrained into his system to the point of no return. “You will be fine. I just hope for our sakes that it isn’t Meadow, she might just turn to walk away.” I say, chuckling. “Myka, that is horrible to say. If she is our Mate, she will probably smack me on the back of my head, look me in the eye and tell me to put on big boy pants.” Makay responds. We both laugh because I wouldn’t put it past her. Thyrius is lying in the back of my head, listening to my conversation with my Brother, and I can feel that Blade is relaxing as well. Meadow is at the centre of most of our conversations; she is the one who discovered why Makay was against a Mate who could take care of herself. Makay also admires her for her strength, mainly for becoming a strong and intelligent woman after her strange childhood. “Are the two of you done?” Mom asks. “It is time for dinner and tomorrow we will have a temporary Beta.” She rolls her eyes at me as she grabs Dad’s arm and pulls him out of the living room. “When did they show up?” Makay whisper yells, making sure that Mom hears him. “While you were wondering how she became so strong, if she was excluded from mandatory training. For your information, her friends helped her train. The same friends who drove you to Renegade territory.” Mom responds. “No wonder they had so much fun driving me there. They knew she was there, maybe even knew she was going to kick my ass.” Makay mumbles. I decide to keep quiet; the best thing for me is to stay out of this conversation. Thyrius is laughing in my head; he likes the idea of Hayden and the others knowing what was waiting for Makay. I see Meadow leaning against the wall from the corner of my eye; she has a huge smile as she listens to Makay mumbling some more about being sold out by our Pack-members. She links her arm with mine as we walk out the door and head down to the dining room. Let's hope it is more peaceful than lunch. Okay, maybe a little drama involving Stella or Rufus. I have heard Pack-members talking about Stella’s confession and no one is too pleased with Rufus' decision.
