Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 55 Not Impressed

Rhys’ p.o.v. I never expected River to find such a gorgeous Mate; blond hair, blue eyes and petite. I look at them as they enter the dining room, laughing, walking next to one another. I can understand why he was in no hurry to introduce her to me, but the disgusted look she gives me catches me off guard. Not as much, though, as finding out that River has a male Mate. My Wolf roars at him to reject his Mate, but Beta Lennox tells me to stay away from my Son. I managed to force my Wolf to walk out of the dining room. We both need to calm down and figure out how to keep the Beta title of Gold Moon Pack in our family. My Wolf runs around the territory for hours while I try to find a way on how to stay in control of Gold Moon Pack. I did everything I could to get as much control over Gold Moon Pack without anyone realizing what I was doing. The only thing I can come up with is my Daughter, but we lost track of her years ago and Rory already found his fated Mate. I believe she moved out when she was about fourteen or fifteen years old. Her caretaker had found her second chance Mate and we haven’t seen either one of them since. Somehow, River found out about his baby Sister and he even found another relative, one that I hadn’t even known about. Why didn’t Elder Major come to me to introduce himself? Why hadn’t River confronted me when he found out the truth about his baby Sister? “What if Alpha Lincoln is aware of everything? They could have found all the papers in that archive. It is a good thing that Alpha Hank never went into the archive, that he had that much faith in you.” My Wolf says. I softly chuckle as I think about Hank. The Idiot truly believed that I was his friend, that I had his best interest at heart. If only Hank had known the truth, then he wouldn’t have gone to Black Valley territory by himself. I knew he wouldn’t be able to control himself when he came face to face with Luna Leona. The Idiot had this idea in his head of what a Luna should look like and Luna Leona doesn’t meet those standards. I just didn’t think that he would get himself killed. That little fact ruined all my plans, and now I have to find another way to regain control of Gold Moon Pack. My Daughter could be an answer, but that means that I have to find her. She is now next in line for the Beta position and I have no doubts that I can manipulate her to use her to my advantage. By the time we get home, it is dark out and I have been able to form a little plan in my head. I spent most of my days trying to track down my Daughter and her caretaker’s whereabouts, but without access to the archive, it proved to be very difficult. After my Wolf took a look at my memories, we knew where to start our search. I called the Pack that they moved to, only to find out that my Daughter never left the territory; she was left behind once again. The Alpha couldn’t tell me where my Daughter went after her caretaker left our territory and he could no longer ask her as she had died a few years back. I don’t get called out to the border when a group of Rogues attack and I don’t hear about it until it is over and done with. Rumors started to spread after the attack on our territory; three Rogues were captured and the Elders had sent a team our way to deal with them. If those rumors are true then this team has a female leader and that she is damn good at her job. I am waiting near the front porch with Mia for the arrival of the Elite team and I hear Mia squeal when we see two Bears accompanying the SUVs. “Didn’t you know that Beta Lennox is a Grizzly Bear?” A Pup in front of us asks. River moves when the door of one of the SUVs opens, wrapping his arms around the female who has gotten out of the SUV as he keeps whispering apologies. “Who is that?” Mia asks, but I’m unable to answer her question. It isn’t until she mentions that she left the territory a year ago that I realize who she is. I am looking at my Daughter and she doesn’t seem to be too interested in what I have to say. “Don’t you disrespect me, young lady.” I growl at her. “I am your Fahter and I will always outrank you.” I see Lilith’s fist coming too late and she clocks me straight in the face. I stagger back at the force and suddenness of the punch. Beta Lilith seems to have a great relationship with my Daughter and she even calls her Mom. However, that should be impossible if she left the territory over a year ago. But where did she live all this time? She moved out at the same time as her caretaker. River follows my Daughter into the Pack-house and I just follow them in a daze. I try to remember her name, but I never bothered to ask my Mate about her name. Meilani was unable to give me a Lycan Son and then she gave me a Daughter. “How was the trip over here?” I hear River ask, but he doesn’t mention her name. I listen as she answers him, both of them talking as if they have known one another for years. I stay close to both of them, but not once does someone call her by her name or ask for her name. “Who is she, Rhys?” Mia asks and I can feel several eyes on me, waiting for me to answer her. Someone seems to have lost patience with me and has decided to answer on my behalf. “That is Rhys’ Daughter, but none of you would know that as you never gave a damn about what happened outside the Pack-house.” One of our older Warriors answers her. Mia snarls at him, but the guy isn’t impressed and I know that Alpha Lincoln will get to the bottom of that remark.
