Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 180 A Challenge

Meadow’s p.o.v. We will be spending a week at Silent Crest Pack before returning home. I want to know everything about any potential attacks that might still occur and possibly provide them with new ways to deal with them. It is the sole purpose of our visit, because Alpha Lincoln has heard about the attacks his family faced after founding Black Valley Pack and he wants Gideon and Renya to have a peaceful life. “Thank you for giving us a hand with this, Meadow. I believe that our Luna being a Royal has put the fear in most of our enemies, if you can call them that.” Gideon says as I walk into his office with my Mates right behind me. “It wouldn’t surprise me if it did and Alpha Lincoln announcing your alliance did the rest, no doubt.” I respond. I genuinely believe that it is the main reason that their enemies have backed off, but I won’t accept it without some investigating. “You can expect a few more visitors in the next few days. Once they are all here, we will have a better understanding of the situation. Until that time, I would like to discuss your border patrols, training schedules and watch from the shadows.” I tell Gideon. He needs to understand that even if the threat is gone at the moment, I still want to make sure they are prepared if someone decides to be an Asshat and attack. “Thank you. We appreciate all the help you can give us. Like Alpha Lincoln’s family, my family founded Silent Crest Pack to accept every kind of Shifter who wanted to settle in our territory. When the attacks on Black Valley territory stopped, my family hoped for the same for our territory.” Gideon responds. I have heard the stories from Alpha Lincoln and I know it took a long time for their neighboring Packs to accept them. We spend the rest of the day going over their patrols and training schedules. It appears they have developed a comprehensive training schedule, but I am missing the schedule for the Omegas. “Where is the schedule for your Omegas, Alpha?” I ask as I place the tablet on his desk. “Our Omegas don’t want to train. They know they are weak and can never defeat one of our enemies. They’d rather focus on their actual jobs.” A man says, whom I wasn’t introduced to. Rebel growls in my head and I know that they can feel my aura seeping out of me, but I have no intention of pulling it in. We have trained with the Omegas at Black Valley and Gold Moon enough times in the past to know what some are capable of. “Meadow, would you mind?” Gideon asks and I know what he wants, but Rebel is too pissed off to let me. “Not going to happen, Gideon. Your baby Brother pissed off my future Beta female and her Lycan isn’t the kind of Shifter to stand down just because an Alpha asks her to.” Magnus answers.Myka and Makay are standing on either side of me; they don’t touch me in an attempt to calm Rebel down, they know better. “Are you allowing some woman to disrespect us like that?” Gideon’s baby Brother asks. “I am not allowing anyone to disrespect us, but Magnus has a point. You did the insulting, apparently. She might stop if you apologize, Caldwell.” Gideon says. At least, I have a name that goes with the little sack of shit. He scuffs at Gideon’s suggestion and I allow Rebel’s growls to escape my lips. “Sounds like our Mate is pissed. I hope you are smart enough to stay away from her during training or Doc is going to have a hard time patching you up.” Myka says. Makay keeps quiet, but our bond tells me that he is more than willing to teach Caldwell a lesson or two. “The Omegas at Black Valley and at Gold Moon all train and some of them will give you a run for your money. Trust me, I speak from experience.” Magnus says as he looks at Caldwell. From the corner of my eye, I see Gideon smile at Magnus’ admission. It is an excellent compliment for a Warrior to hear this kind of praise from his Alpha; for an Omega, this is unheard of. “There isn’t an Omega within our borders who could manage that.” Caldwell says. “Challenge accepted, Shitface.” Rebel speaks and I see a smile appear on Magnus’ face. He knows that Rebel doesn’t shy away from a challenge and Caldwell’s words sounded very much like one.Caldwell tries to object, but Gideon is quick to point out to him that it did sound like a challenge. “As an Alpha’s Son, you have no other choice but to accept this. You were supposed to stay a week, Meadow. How about we extend it by two days to give you enough time to find someone and to train them?” Gideon asks. I accept the terms and ask Magnus to inform his Father of the changes in our plan. If I know my Alpha well enough, he will be here on the day of the match. “Renya knows who you should ask for this challenge. You will enjoy this even more if she accepts.” I hear Milcah say in my head. Magnus must have kept her informed of our meeting and she discussed it with Reya to give me a head start. The challenge is enough to calm down Rebel, and I manage to rein in my aura. The moment I have pulled in my aura, I feel my Mates placing a hand on my shoulders and Rebel curls up in the back of my head. “Dad is coming here in a few days. They will leave the territory once Misha and River are there to take over the Pack. Dad refuses to miss this and so is Beta Lennox.” I hear Magnus say through the mind-link. “Our parents will join us in a few days. They are as curious as you and Caldwell to see if Meadow can pull it off.” Myka says with a straight face, but he is lying through his teeth. Our parents know what I am capable of and they know that I will win this challenge. It still amuses Rebel that we are no longer allowed to call our Mates parents by their names, mainly because I tend to forget. “I am going to take a walk around the territory and see if I can find someone willing to give you a run for your money, Caldwell.” I say as I get up and I walk out of the office without saying another word.
