Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Meadow’s p.o.v. Rebel is having fun at my expense because I want to reach out to my friends, but if they did find their fated Mate, then I don’t want to disturb them. Six members of my chosen family have found their fated Mates and one way or another, they will remain a part of my life. Maryan has already decided to leave the Renegades to settle down in Gold Moon territory with Hayden. Brooklyn and Madison will move to Black Valley territory; there is no other choice to be made and they will fulfill their new positions in life to the best of their abilities. “Damn, I hope they don’t move away.” I hear Madden mumble and I look up to see three of my team members walking into the room. Calista, Tia and Lyndy found their fated Mates, but I don’t understand why Madden hopes they stay in Black Valley territory. “Their Mates are three of our best Elite Warriors. I wouldn’t mind if they moved to Gold Moon, to be honest.” Magnus responds to his Brother’s remark. I get up to congratulate them and introduce myself to their Mates. I remember their faces from our trip to Seven Cloud Pack and I understand why Madden would hate to lose them. “Take your time to decide your next move. There is no hurry in deciding where you are going to live.” I say to them before I return to my seat.“No need for that.” Valentino, Calista’s Mate, responds. “We understand how close your team is to one another, so we will move to Gold Moon territory.” I hear Madden mutter under his breath, but he will never stop anyone from moving with their fated Mate. Even if it means losing some of the best Warriors you have. Magnus has a smug look on his face and I wonder where his mind has taken him. “This will be fun for the Gold Moon members who still refuse to remember who their Alpha is. These guys are the best at training those who are reluctant to train or who think they are better than others.” Makay says through the mind-link. He included Valentino and his friends, because all three look in our direction as if to ask if Makay is kidding. I shake my head as an indication to them, but Tia is more than happy to make it publicly known. “I have been there for a while now and I have never seen a Pack with so many members who slack off during training or who think they are so much better than another.” Tia growls. “And she isn’t afraid to kick their asses to prove her point.” Alpha Lincoln says with a smile. Tia buries her face in Ryken’s chest as everyone around us chuckles. She isn’t a shy person, but she hates being the center of attention. I look over her shoulder as Milcah writes down: Lyndy & Brayden, Tia & Ryken, and Calista & Valentino. She marks them as moving out of the territory before she closes the notebook to grab her coffee. “Who are we missing, Meadow?” Alpha Lincoln asks, and I list off the names of one team member and two friends. We enjoy our breakfast as we wait for them to show up and find out if and who they are mated to. Finding a fated Mate had never been a priority for any of us, until Maryan and I found our fated Mates and showed them what they were missing. It has been a favorite topic to discuss for us since that night, but we never talked about who they might want as a Mate. Brooklyn keeps hiding her face in Madden’s chest every time someone calls her Luna and as her Brother, Hayden, is the worst. “Hayden, stop it.” Maryan says and we all go quiet. She hasn’t called him by his first name since the night they marked one another and Hayden realizes that he is in trouble with his Mate. I can hear his Lycan whimper with my ability and even if I didn’t have my ability, we can see how much the use of his first name affects both of them. He apologizes to Brooklyn as he pulls Maryan onto his lap, burying his face in her neck to soothe himself. “No need to ask where they are going to live.” I hear Madden say and turn my head toward the doorway. He is right; this is a no-brainer. They will move to Gold Moon territory and Renegade territory will lose another great Warrior. Florence and Ryder found their fated Mates and Rebel is happy that every member of our chosen family is paired off to someone we know. Ryder’s Mate is my team member, Raya and Florence is mated to her twin Brother, Falon. “Congratulations on finding your fated Mate. I might not like every outcome, but I think I will be able to survive. I know she hates it, but I have to do this anyway.” Madden says as he looks around the dining room at all the newly mated couples. He holds out his hand for Brooklyn to take and he slowly pulls her out of her seat. “This is Brooklyn, my fated Mate. She is your Luna and a small warning, she hates the title.” He introduces her as he pulls her into his side. “She is also Meadow’s chosen Sister, who some of you know isn’t afraid to kick your ass if you misbehave.” “Welcome, Luna Brooklyn.” Booms through the dining room as all members of Black Valley respond in unison to Madden’s announcement. “Damn, that sounds amazing.” Milcah says through our mind-link and I remember how Gold Moon Pack-members looked when she was introduced as the future Luna. “Maybe our children will get a similar response. If we can make Gold Moon Pack accept this as a normal way of introducing newly mated couples.” Magnus responds. A lot has changed since Alpha Hank was killed, but some things are more challenging to change than others. I like that new couples are introduced to the Pack; it gives off the warning that someone is off the market. Not that it will always have the desired result, because there are those who don’t care if someone has a fated Mate or not. Alpha Lincoln won’t stand for it and neither will Madden or Magnus. A fated couple is not to be messed with and the consequences are severe if you ignore that rule.
