Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Makay’s p.o.v. I have never liked parties like these. Every woman seems to have a hidden agenda, at least the ones of a high rank. Meadow keeps looking around at the Shifters around us and I am grateful she had thought a little more about tonight than most of us had done. Her friends and her team form a perimeter around us, keeping a close eye on anyone who tries to approach our families. Most of the guests who try to approach us are women, but a few men have tried to get close to our Sisters. “Mylah, are you hoping to find your fated Mate tonight?” Calista asks as another man walks toward her. “I have been hoping to find my fated Mate since I turned eighteen. I want the kind of relationship my parents have and I don’t care about their rank.” Mylah answers. We mumble our agreement because none of us ever cared about the rank of our fated Mate. It was how our parents raised us. We value a fated Mate for the strength our bond will have, for the strength it will give our Pack. “I believe that an Alpha’s Daughter should be mated to an Alpha. She is more suited for the Luna position than any other rank. If you don’t find him tonight, keep in mind that I am willing to take you as my chosen Mate.” A young man behind her says.Mylah turns toward him and looks him up and down before she leans toward Calista to say, “Not my type.” I chuckle as the guy’s smile disappears; he hadn’t expected that remark after all the compliments he received from other women. He turned down each of them and I figured that he was more like us; guess I was mistaken about that one. “You don’t know what you are turning down. I hope your Brothers will talk some sense into you.” The guy responds. “Not happening.” Magnus replies. “My Sister makes her own choices and if that means she turns your offer down, then so be it.” It looks as if the guy wants to respond to Magnus, but Luna Leona announces that it is almost midnight. “Every Shifter hopes to find their fated Mate, but sometimes it will take a while for them to find the one who completes them. Some of us are unfortunately rejected for reasons of rank, status, or other factors. I don’t care about any of that and I will accept the Mate our Goddess has chosen for me. The same goes for my Gamma and our siblings; none of us will choose a Mate and no matter how long we have to wait, that will never change.” Madden says as he looks around the ballroom. It won’t surprise you that many of our guests are looking pissed off at the moment, but none of us cares about that. “I will send up a prayer to our Goddess and ask her to pair as many of you with your fated Mate tonight as she can. Good luck.” Madden says before he steps off the stage to wait for midnight to arrive.Meadow starts counting down through the mind-link and we watch our unmated Pack-members get nervous as midnight approaches. The moment I hear Meadow call out zero through the mind-link, I get pushed to the side by Dawson as he steps behind me. I turn in time to see him lift Marisol into his arms and she buries her face in his neck. “What the fuck.” I hear coming from the other side of the ballroom and I turn around to see what that is all about. Okay, I had expected a few of Meadow’s friends and team members to find their fated Mate, but this is ridiculous. It at least explains the remark that forced me to turn around, because Mylah found her fated Mate in Dakota, one of Meadow’s female friends. “Looks like you get to keep your friends and team members close.” Myka says as we look around us. Madden is walking out of the ballroom with Brooklyn in his arms and Matheus is right behind him with Madison in his arms. Looks like Black Valley’s leadership is complete and I know that their Mates will be great additions to this Pack. “I am glad all of them found their fated Mates, but mostly I am grateful for my new Brother in law.” Meadow responds and for a moment, I stare at her. She looks over my shoulder and I follow her line of sight to find Makayla in Tyson’s arms. “Congratulations, Tyson and Makayla.” I hear Maryan say as she steps next to Mom. In less than a year, the rest of us have found our fated Mate and I couldn’t be happier. Leaves us with one question, though. In which Pack are they going to live? “We will see them all in the morning and take things from there. For now, I suggest that we entertain our guests.” Luna Leona states as if I asked the question out loud. In less than an hour, all our guests have left and it surprised me that none of them found their fated Mate. Turns out I was too quick with my conclusion of the night, because Meadow gets called outside by one of our Elite Warriors. “I don’t know who did it, but I know what he did.” He says as he guides us toward the forest. Blade whimpers in my head as we get closer to the forest and hear the most heartbreaking cries we have ever heard. Meadow asks Milcah to calm her down, as the future Luna, she has the ability to help her settle down. I see Meadow concentrate on the girl in front of us and I feel a surge of anger shoot through our bond. Myka and I wrap our arms around her to keep her from going after whoever did this. Her ability to hear thoughts has significantly developed and at times she can even see images. My best guess is that it happened again, allowing her to see the perpetrator. “It's the Asshole who propositioned Mylah. He was her fated Mate and rejected her for being an Omega.” Meadow growls. I chuckle because this Idiot is going to be in for a massive surprise if they ever run into one another again.“She is a Royal. Her Father calls the King Uncle, just like us.” I hear Myka explain through the mind-link. Her cries aren’t out of pain, but out of regret for missing out on the bond between fated Mates. “I want to be there when he discovers what he actually rejected. I want to see the damn look on his face when he realizes his mistake.” Meadow says and I know she will get her wish: one way or the other.
