Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 15 Around The Corner

Makay’s p.o.v. We have been at Gold Moon Pack for almost five weeks and if I can avoid it I skip my duties in the Archive. There are still so many papers to go through and it seems that the papers we are able to match, don’t hold any important information. Myka spends most of his time in there, only coming out to sleep, eat or train and every other moment you can find him in that damn Archive. Alpha Lincoln’s conversations with Pack-members have not revealed anything shocking, but then again he has only talked to the Omegas and the majority of the Sigmas in this Pack. Almost everyone has learned to live by Alpha Lincoln’s rules, but there are still those that believe they are above everything and everyone else. Mia still acts as if she is the Luna and despite the punishments she has received, I doubt that will change any time soon. She is getting on everyone’s nerves, but mostly on Luna Leona’s nerves and I am patiently waiting for the day that ticking time bomb is going off. “HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FUCKING MIND? YOU ARE NOT THIS PACK’S LUNA ANYMORE AND I AM DONE WITH YOUR DAMN OBNOXIOUS BEHAVIOR.” Okay, the bomb just went off. I run down the stairs to the main living room, an Omega is laying on the floor with blood running from a wound on her head and Luna Leona has Mia pinned against the wall. I keep my eyes on Luna Leona, as I slowly make my way over to the Omega and I kneel down next to her to help her to her feet. “Get her to the infirmary.” I whisper to one of the Warriors. “She can get back to work, we are not wasting resources on filth like her.” Mia hisses in my direction and the next moment she is flying through the air, straight through the window. “Alpha, get the fuck down here. Luna is about to kill Mia.” I say through the mind-link and I can already hear him coming down the stairs. He knows that if one of us talks to him like that, shit has hit the fan. Magnus has already grabbed Mia by her neck, forcing her down to her knees and Malek and Mauro are struggling to hold Luna Leona back. One look at his Mate and Alpha Lincoln releases a mighty roar, bringing everyone to their knees. “What is going on here, my Love?” He asks Luna Leona and I can see that she is struggling to get the words out. “I am not sure what happened before I walked into the room, but my best guess is that Mia hit one of the Omegas. She was bleeding from a head wound and when I told one of the Warriors to take her to the infirmary, Mia had to open her mouth. She said; we don’t waste resources on filth like her.” I give him my side of the story and I know it will be enough.Alpha Lincoln walks over to his Son and Magnus steps back as he releases Mia, “Mia, I have told you this before. You are no longer a Luna and you are to treat everyone as equals, but that seems difficult for you to understand. You are no longer allowed to set foot in the Pack-house and if you ever cross me or my Mate again, I will turn you Rogue.” He growls at her. The rest of the day is uneventful and I even join Myka for an hour or so in the Archive. The floor is almost cleared of all the papers, but on the tables is at least the same amount of papers and that means another five weeks of shifting through papers. After dinner I go for a run, Blade has been annoying as hell and letting him out is a good way of calming him down. He knows exactly where he wants to go and for the life of me I can’t understand what the appeal is of this clearing, but it is his favorite spot in the territory. He can just walk around here for hours or just lie somewhere near the edge of the clearing, but for some reason it is also the only place that seems to calm him down. By the time I get back to the Pack-house, almost everyone has turned in for the night and I see that the lights are off in my parents room. Looks like I will be the last one to turn in tonight, usually Dad or Alpha Lincoln is the last to turn in. “I hate this new training schedule, it is always too early and it always lasts too long. How often do you have to practice the same movement? If you know it, there is no use in repeating it.” I hear Stella complain and I take a good look around me. “Stella, stop complaining. Alpha Lincoln isn’t going to excuse you from training. He is more likely to intensify your training and then you will be complaining for real.” I hear Sarah respond, but Stella seems to be deaf to her advice. “I understand why Stella doesn’t want to keep repeating those moves, a female should be in a safe room and not out there fighting during an attack.” I say, as I walk towards them. “I believe that a Luna, a Beta female and a Gamma female should stay in a saferoom at the Pack-house, every female that isn’t a Warrior should be in a saferoom. I don’t understand why it is necessary for a female to know how to fight, they shouldn’t be in the middle of a battle. Females are weak and need us, males, to protect them.” I say, before I walk into the Pack-house. I check the Archive to find it empty and I slowly make my way up to the Alpha floor to turn in for the night. As I go through my night routine, I let my mind wander to the announcement Alpha Lincoln made a week ago. On Monday we will each move to the correct floor in the Pack-house and the Sons of Alpha Hank and his leadership will stay with us. Alpha Lincoln hopes to get a better understanding about what we all still need to learn and make a better decision somewhere down the line. River will move to the Beta floor with us, he has been living in a house, only a few feet away from the Pack-house. I lay down in my bed and stare up at the ceiling, clearing my mind of everything that has happened since the night Alpha Hank paid us a visit. My eyes slowly close as I drift off to sleep and if I had done that during my run, I might have known trouble was just around the corner.
