Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 14 Retirement

Meadow’s p.o.v. My first week in Renegade territory has passed quickly, I keep to myself most of the time and if I have to interact with anyone I always seek out another girl. During training it is a bit more difficult, but I have only had to face a male three times during training and each time it was a disaster. The first time I had to spar with a male, I had decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and that was a huge mistake. I thought he was really willing to teach me and to explain certain things to me, but in the end he used it to try and humiliate me. I didn’t do anything to put him back in his place and that is probably why the second male tried to pull the same stunt. Again I decided to let it go, I didn’t want to start trouble in my first week and that was my mistake. The third male wasn’t so lucky. Rebel was fed up with all those males trying to put me down and she grab him by the throat when he was making a remark towards his friends. “Mess with us again and you won’t survive.” She had growled, her face less than an inch away from his and I saw fear flashing through his eyes. Elder Morton had a talk with me and after that he called in the three males, reprimanding them for their poor behavior towards me. It didn’t stop them from trying to mess with me, each of them tried to trick me into going somewhere I shouldn’t be and each time they said that Elder Morton has sent them. Each of them ended up in the infirmary with some serious injuries and I informed Elder Morton and Elder Chelsea of what they had tried to do. I thought Elder Morton understood that I didn’t trust easily, but if I had known what would happen next I might have left without a word.I wake up to a very excited Rebel, pacing back and forth in my head. Today we are going to get our Renegade Warrior exam and I hope that the training I got from my friends is enough to help me pass. Elder Morton will come to bring me to the training grounds in half an hour and I decide to go over my final preparations for my classes to become a Renegade Tech. I have all my books and everything else I might need for those classes. A knock on the door pulls me away from my task and when I open the door I am faced with an unknown male. I am only sure about one thing, he is not an Elder. “Follow me.” He says and without waiting for a response from me, he walks away. For a moment I am stunned, not sure what to do and I contemplate on closing the door for a second. I decide to follow him at a distance, not really trusting the situation. I can find my own way to the training grounds, but according to the regulations an Elder has to escort me there. The uneasy feeling I had, becomes stronger when I see him walking in the wrong direction and I turn around to head back to my room. On my way back to my room, I try to link Elder Morton but he has a block up and I decide it is better to wait in my room. I sit down behind my desk and I start working on the next assignment from one of my books. My door opens and I see a very angry looking Eldere Morton standing in the doorway. “Why aren’t you at the training grounds?” He asks and I am not sure if he is expecting an honest answer. “You were supposed to guide me to the training grounds, you told me that is was regulation for an Elder to escort a student to their Warrior exam.” I answer him, keeping my eyes locked with his. “I send someone to replace me, I had an emergency.” Elder Morton counters. “Maybe next time you should inform the student about the change in plans and make sure that whoever you send, knows where he is going.” I retort, before I recount the events from earlier. “I don’t trust easily and you are very well aware of that, Elder Morton. You just damaged the tiny bit of trust I had in you.” I say, before I break eye contact and turn my attention to the book on my desk. I don’t hear him leave, but that doesn’t bother me. I focus on my assignment and Rebel keeps an eye out for any form of danger. “Meadow, you need to let go of the past” Elder Morton says. I place my pen on the notebook I was using and I walk to my walk-in closet, looks like I am moving again. After grabbing my bag from the back of the closet, I place it on the bed and walk back into the closet to get the clothes I placed in there, slowly filling the bag without saying a word. Once the walk-in closet is empty I move to the bathroom and take everything out of the cabinets that I brought with me. I place my toiletry bag in the bag on my bed and then I start to empty the bedside tables, only packing what belongs to me.“Meadow, can you explain what you are doing?” I hear Elder Chelsea ask from behind me. “I am packing my bags, I will leave once I am done. You told me that you understood my situation and would never do anything to make me feel uncomfortable, but apparently that was just a lie.” I answer her, but I refuse to stop what I am doing. Elder Morton explains to the others what happened and I turn around when I hear a loud thud. Elder Morton is lying on the floor and Elder Josiah is holding back Elder Chelsea. “Meadow is my responsibility, maybe you can regain her trust and maybe not. I asked you to escort her, not to test her. Interfere with Meadow again and I might ask the other Elders to force you into retirement.” Elder Chelsea says.
