Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 131 Power Hungry

Mauro’s p.o.v. I was there the night Alpha Hank lost his life for insulting our Luna and I figured that Alpha Lincoln was the most dangerous Shifter I had ever met. Yeah, I have to retract that. Meadow is most definitely the most dangerous Shifter I have ever met and I am grateful that she is on our side. “Marten, put him in the dungeons. No visitors.” Magnus says and we know that Madden will hand him his fucking ass. Once Meadow is calm again, we sit down for breakfast and we tell Marisol about what happened last night. She giggles as she hears how Meadow tossed Kellam out of the window. She had slept right through the noise Malek and I made as we got to our rooms. “After breakfast, I want all of you in Dad’s office.” Magnus says. “I want to know what the deal is with Bruno.” Marisol asks about our nightly adventures while we eat and little by little, we paint the picture of how we got into the territory and the Pack-house. We can’t tell her how we avoided every Pack-member, not out loud, that is. Magnus sits down behind his Father’s desk and dials a number as the rest of us sit down. I have no doubt he is calling Alpha Lincoln to tell him that we succeeded in our objective and to find out who won the bet.“Gold Moon Pack, Luna Leona speaking.” We hear after it has rung twice and I wonder why Alpha Lincoln isn’t in his office. “Your Dad is dealing with an Asshole who thinks he still holds the Beta position.” Meadow growls at the mention of Rhys and her Mates wrap their arms around her to calm her down. “Magnus, how did the mission go?” Alpha Lincoln asks after we hear a door closing. We hear a chair moving and I assume he is sitting behind his desk. “Depends on who you ask.” Magnus responds. “If you ask any of us, the answer is perfect. If you ask Misha, he will tell you it sucked.” It is quiet at the other end of the line and we can hear the door open and close again. Some people are walking around and then we get the question of why Misha would say it sucked. “Meadow turned off the TV and that woke Kellam up. As you can imagine, he wasn’t happy and attacked Meadow. We went flying out the window.” Misha explains and I hear a few giggles and chuckles at the other end of the line. “Madden, you have an issue to deal with when you get back.” Magnus says and this time there are growls on both ends of the line. Those growls will become worse once they find out what kind of issue Madden needs to deal with. “What did the fucking Moron do?” Madden asks and I wonder if he knew about the proposition Bruno made to Makayla. “If Misha burned down the Pack-house, I am going to kill him.” No, doesn’t sound like Madden has any idea. Great, now Magnus gets to explain it and that will be a shitshow, while we are here. “Did you know that Bruno asked Makayla to become his chosen Mate?” Myka asks and a second later, we hear a massive crash, followed by a loud thud. We hear a sliding sound and then, followed by someone shooing. “How many shifted, Luna Leona?” Meadow asks with a smile on her face. She sees the fun of it and maybe someday we will, too, but not right now. I am surprised to hear Luna Leona laughing, so it mustn’t be as bad as I had thought. I figured everyone would be pissed off at Bruno for even asking Makayla, but it only seems to affect the men. “Do you honestly believe that Makayla would even entertain that thought for a second, Mauro?” Meadow asks. “Damn, I forgot. I need to filter my thoughts around you.” I say teasingly, because I know she didn’t do it on purpose. I need to tune down the volume on my thoughts or she is going to do this every single time. Magnus asks his Mom to call us back when the others have calmed down and in the meantime, we discuss our sneaking into the territory with Mich and the others. Meadow points out on the map where we crossed and how we managed to avoid detection. She also clues us in on the patrols around the Pack-house. “They are damn good at their job and without the right gifted Shifter, no one can get past them. None of you found the pattern and I know you all tried to find it.” Meadow states and we all confirm her story.“Okay, there shouldn’t be a pattern. They walk different routes during their patrols, they pass one another at different times and never the same route twice in a row.” My Brother, Matheus, says. Meadow looks at Magnus and Milcah, but both shake their heads. Neither of them was able to discover the pattern. “You are right, Matheus. However, they walk each route subsequently. All I had to do was time the routes and figure out how many different routes there are.” Meadow replies. Matheus picks up the file with the routes for the Pack-house patrols and places the papers on the table. Meadow shuffles through them a bit before she writes the time of each route underneath. “This is the order in which they walk patrols and here is where we had the most time to get into the Pack-house.” She says as she points at the weak spots in those patrols. Matheus makes a few notes and asks a few more questions, which Meadow answers willingly. A good patrol around the borders and the Pac-house is essential for any Pack and we are not afraid to accept pointers or suggestions. “How far did your ability reach?” Magnus asks. “I know it reached further than mine, but I would like to know how much further.” “The entire territory, but this part of the border was a bit weak. I could still sense Shifters, but no longer how many there were.” Meadow answers, while pointing at a specific part of the border. Her ability is going to be our ace up our sleeve when we go to Seven Cloud Pack and if their borders are protected in a similar manner, we have a damn good chance of succeeding. Gossom can’t wait to deal with Alpha Devlin because he hates what the man represents: a power-hungry Alpha who will stop at nothing.
