Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 130 Her Sincerity

Malek’s p.o.v. I follow Captain Miles to the Omega stairwell and take the lead in heading up the stairs to surprise River and Misha. This trial run is perfect for finding out what we can expect for our assignment and Barion can’t wait to get Marley and Layina out of Seven Cloud territory. If he gets the chance, he will rip Alpha Devlin a second asshole for what he did to Layina and wants to do to Marley. When Meadow announced that she had discovered a pattern, I kept timing the patrols, but I still haven’t figured out which pattern she found. “Move toward their bedroom.” I hear Meadow say through the mind-link and I quietly open the door to the Beta floor, while the others slowly follow me to Misha and River’s room. I gesture to the others to stop, because Makayla’s door is open. Peeking around the corner, I notice that her bed is empty and unslept in. “No idea where she is, but Makayla isn’t in her room. I doubt she has been in here at all tonight.” I inform the others. “How is that possible?” Magnus asks. “I can sense three people on this floor.” I have no answer for him, but the fact is that Makayla’s room is empty. No matter how I turn this, the fact remains that she isn’t in her room. I don’t see a glimpse of light from the bathroom, so I assume that she is sleeping elsewhere. We walk past the room to stop next to the door leading to the bedroom we need to enter and I watch as Meadow slowly opens it. She looks into the room with a smile on her face and I follow Magnus’ example and peek into the room over her shoulder. In the bed are Misha, River and Makayla, all fast asleep and the TV is still on. I grab my phone and take a picture of the adorable scene before us. Meadow grabs the remote from the bed and turns off the TV. Before she can do anything else, Misha shoots straight up in bed and Kellam pushes forward to take control. Instead of stepping aside to let him collide with the wall, she grabs his arm to pull him in a different direction and the momentum it creates sends Kellam flying out the window. The noise it creates wakes up River and Makayla, both of them stare at us before it registers that we shouldn’t be here. Or at the very least, someone should have warned Misha that we were on our way up. “You okay, down there?” Meadow asks as she looks down from the balcony. “How the fuck did you get into our room?” I hear Misha calling back up. Meadow doesn’t answer him and walks back into the bedroom to sit on the bed next to her Brother. We all wait for Misha to return and as you can imagine, he looks pissed off.“I needed a way to test my ability.” Meadow says, before she explains what we did and how we did it. Misha isn’t as pleased with our stunt as his Mate and his little Sister, but he understands that we now have a better chance at infiltrating Seven Cloud territory without getting caught. Our Brother isn’t too happy with getting woken up when we enter the Gamma floor with a little more noise than needed. I crash on my bed after going through my usual evening routine and it takes Mauro a few tries in the morning to wake me. “Damn, I’m glad we don’t always need a whole night of sleep to function.” I respond as I get out of bed and walk into the bathroom. Every Pack-member looks surprised to see us walk into the dining room and I watch as Magnus walks up to Marten and his Father. “Next time, trust your instincts more. You came real close to catching us as we entered the territory.” Magnus says while looking at Marten. “Dad said he didn’t see or hear anything, even though he went outside to check.” Marten states. “Yeah, we know. Meadow and Milcah had to hide under the porch, while we were hiding under bushes and whatnot.” Magnus replies. “Our objective was to scare the shit out of Misha and River, but that turned out a bit different from what I had expected.” Micha growls at Magnus, while Makayla and River are hiding their laughter.“Yeah, I doubt anyone had expected to see a Bear fly.” Meadow says as she hugs Misha from behind. “I do apologize for that, though. After all, we are family.” Magnus takes the time to introduce Meadow and Milcah to our Pack-members and everyone starts cheering. Meadow takes the time to talk to Marten and his family, while Milcah gets pulled in a few directions by some children. Breakfast is chaotic with the news of two new additions to our families and even though we are happy for our friends, Mauro and I would like to find our Mate as soon as we can. Misha softly growls when an old friend walks up to our table, his eyes fixated on Makayla. She acts as if the food on her plate is the most interesting thing in the world and Meadow pulls her Mates with her as she steps closer to the table. “Have you thought about it, Makayla?” Bruno asks. “You haven’t found him in the past year and a half and I am willing to accept you as a chosen Mate.” Oh, fuck. He didn’t just say that out loud in front of her Brothers. Please, Goddess, tell me that there is something wrong with my hearing. At least, now I understand why Misha started growling as he approached the table. Mauro and I both get up to help Meadow deal with her angry Mates, but it seems to be the other way. Meadow is beyond pissed and there is nothing any of us can do to help Bruno. Hell, I doubt any of us wants to help him. She has Bruno up against the wall, her hand wrapped tightly around his neck. She looks him in the eyes as she leans forward to whisper in his ear, “Madden will determine your fate. I am only going to give you a warning. Come near my Sister again and you are dead.” Everyone has heard the icy undertone in her voice and no one doubts her sincerity.
