Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 127 Guide Past

Meadow’s p.o.v. I stand in the doorway, looking at all the Squad members and Elite Warriors walking or sitting around in the ballroom. Over thirteen hundred men and women in one area are noisy, and Captain Miles has been asking them for the past ten minutes to sit down. It is the Elite Warriors who are slowing things down and I am getting impatient. “SIT THE FUCK DOWN.” Magnus roars and in seconds, every chair is taken. “Thank you, Young Alpha.” Captain Miles says before he activates the screen behind him and informs everyone of the information that Iniko gave us. Growls are heard from every direction when he explains that Alpha Devlin is slowly killing his fourth Mate and how he is going about it. “He already has another Mate lined up to take her place and we will do anything we can to stop him from forcefully marking another woman.” Captain Miles says. Malek and Mauro have it extremely difficult to hear this, but it wasn’t until last night that I understood why they were so bothered by it. At the age of thirteen, they had accompanied their Father and Alpha Lincoln on a Pack visit. Alpha Lincoln suspected this pack was not following our main laws, but no one had ever found any incriminating evidence.Malek and Mauro had been too focused on a movie they watched on the way over and were left in the SUV while their Father and their Alpha had gone into the Pack-house. When the boys had finally gotten out of the SUV, they had decided to explore the territory. In the vicinity of the Pack-house, everything looked to be normal and the boys had slowly walked further away from the SUV and the Pack-house. Only moments after entering the forest, Malek had linked his Father to alert him to danger. They had heard someone screaming to leave her alone and instead of waiting for their Father to get there, they moved closer to investigate on their own. Before their Father got there, they witnessed a woman being grabbed by two men and a third man forcefully marked her. Malek told me he would never forget what the man said to her after he forced his mark on her, “You will get an Alpha command to mark me and then I can do whatever I want to you.” Something good did come from that day. The Alpha tried to prevent Alpha Lincoln from interfering with how he managed his Pack, and now that Pack no longer exists. “We need to get into the territory without alerting Alpha Devlin, which is easier said than done.” Captain Miles says. “Our mission is to rescue Layina and Marley and if we manage to catch Alpha Devlin in the process, that will be a huge plus.” “Any idea on how you plan to accomplish getting into Seven Cloud territory, Captain?” Someone asks from across the room.“No, but I believe that with the help of the Elite Warriors of Gold Moon and Black Valley, we can come up with a plan.” Captain Miles responds, before he divides us into ten groups of approximately one hundred and thirty five Shifters. The map on the screen displays ten different colors along the border of Seven Cloud territory and each group is assigned one of these colors as its group name. Our group name is Red and I have been appointed as the team leader. I walk to a corner of the ballroom and ask some of my team members to pull together some tables, while I ask Myka for a paper copy of the map. “Let’s mark our part of the border and see where every building is positioned. We need to avoid detection at all costs, which means that we need to know where we could run into Pack-members.” I say as Myka places the map on the table. My team members keep rotating to look at the map and write down whatever comes to mind. We will discuss everything in a little while and hopefully, the notes can help us come up with a plan. “Meadow, how far does your ability of sense reach?” Myka asks and I have a pretty good idea why he is bringing this up. “I have no idea, but I can test it. I will ask Brooklyn for some help, I trust her with the knowledge of my gift.” I respond to Myka’s question. Seven Cloud Pack has a territory which is slightly smaller than Gold Moon Pack and significantly smaller than Black Valley Pack. I might need to talk to Madden to really test my ability and see if we can get into Black Valley territory without detection. We discuss our safest path to the Pack-house and mark every obstacle in our way, which are only three cottages, to my surprise. I look up at the screen to see which team will encounter the most obstacles along the way and I know that two of those teams will never accept my instructions, no matter what I tell them about my abilities. “Captain, we need to talk about something. I need some time, though, to figure out if this could work.” I tell Captain Miles through our mind-link. He knows about my ability, but hasn’t asked me to use it on this mission for some reason. Brooklyn has walked out of the Pack-house and with my ability, I will follow her to the farthest corner of our territory. If she has reached it and I can still sense her, then I will walk in the opposite direction to find out how far my ability can go. “Keep looking for any spots where Warriors can hide. I would use them if they were present in my territory.” I say before I walk out the door to test my ability to its limits. I expect to feel Brooklyn's presence less as the distance between us grows, but it remains as strong as it was when she was standing next to me. I smile when I realize that she isn’t alone and I know who’s presence I feel next to her. “The distance between us is the biggest it can be and your presence feels as strong as when you were in the Pack-house. I can even sense that Milcah is with you, Brooklyn.” I state through the mind-link and both of them giggle in response.“Same on this end, Meadow. I hadn’t expected it, but it feels good to know that this works.” Milcah responds. This means that we have three Shifters who can guide everyone past our enemies, if it becomes necessary.
