Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Meadow’s p.o.v. I had not expected Uncle Major to find his second chance, but I am glad his second chance is Zaphara. Both of them deserve some happiness and she will never ask him to resign as an Elder. My mind keeps wandering to the man we caught on the Alpha floor and I wish I could do the questioning myself. I turn toward the doorway to see Magnus walking in with a shit eating grin on his face and his fingers interlocked with those of Milcah. My jaw drops when I hear Magnus state that they knew how Luna Leona was feeling. “Thank the Goddess. I am no longer the only freak in the family.” I whisper. I get smacked on the back of my head by Uncle Major and I turn toward him with a pout on my face. “Do not insult your Cousin, Meadow.” He says while looking past me at Milcah. Damn, I hadn’t thought of that. My Mates are chuckling as I try to keep that pout on my face, but Rebel is in a playful mood. “Keep in mind that you are now related to Magnus through me, River and Milcah.” Rebel says to our Mates, who suddenly stop laughing. I can hear the wheels spinning in their heads as they try to figure out how this works, and neither of them notices the others staring at them. I leave them out of the mind-link, while I tell the others what Rebel told them. Milcah is giggling as she tries to make sense of it all.“River is mated to Misha, who is your Brother.” Milcah says as she points at my Mates. “The two of you are mated to Meadow, who is River’s Sister. Talk about Brothers in law with a twist.” I hear a few laughs around us, but I doubt that Milcah is finished. “My Mother is mated to your Uncle, which makes us Stepsisters and therefore your Mates are also my Brothers in law.” Milcah says as she slowly shakes her head. “Which will also make them your Brothers in law by default, Magnus.” “There’s no getting rid of them, is there?” Magnus asks as he pulls Milcah into his arms. Makay looks at Magnus, not believing what he just heard and I can see that Magnus has trouble keeping a straight face. “No, even if we all reject one another, you are still stuck with them.” Milcah mumbles into his chest and I hear someone snort behind me. Myka seems to understand Milcah’s last remark, but Makay has trouble wrapping his head around it. “You will still be his Beta, no matter what happens.” I clarify as I wrap my arms around his waist. “As his Beta, you can have time away from him. On birthdays, holidays and other events, but as a Brother in law there is no escaping one another.” Makay growls softly as he pulls me closer and buries his face in my hair, inhaling my scent for comfort. I don’t believe they are truly disappointed with this turn of events, but they like to pull each other’s chain. We have breakfast on the Alpha floor, because Luna Leona wants to give Magnus and Milcah a few more hours before they have to face other Pack-members and reveal that they are marked and mated. During breakfast, everyone keeps bringing up the intricate connection between the Alpha and Beta families. Causing some to groan, while others laugh and at times it is vice versa. “Captain, any progress on the Idiot we caught?” I ask Captain Miles through the mind-link. I waited as long as I could, but my curiosity finally caught up with me and won. “Not much. He refuses to answer any of my questions and I am close to pulling out the big guns.” Captain Miles responds. I know who he refers to with big guns and if they fail, he will call upon me for help. Alpha Lincoln stares at me and I feel like a kid caught with my hand in the cookie jar. “Sorry, I needed to know if there was any news. I tried to hold off for as long as I could, but it has been bugging me ever since he was led away. I even contemplated going down there myself.” I tell him honestly. We all want to find out who he is and why he came here, but more importantly, the question is how he knew to use the Omega stairwell. An hour before lunch, Milcah pulls me to the side and the look on her face tells me that it is serious. “You realize that Rhys will find out the truth today. It will be almost impossible to make him believe that I am you after the announcement.” Milcah says. “I will be there, though. Every time you need someone to back you up.” Damn, that had slipped my mind. With Milcah being introduced as the future Luna, it will become clear to Rhys that two women are walking around the Pack who resemble his Daughter. Now, my mind is flooded with thoughts. Not just on our prisoner, but also on Rhys’ response to the resemblance between me and Milcah. Calista has taken a look at both our ancestors, but we are not related in any way. She did find relatives of Milcah in another Pack, but I will keep that information for a later date. Perhaps they are aware of them and there is a chance that they aren’t aware of any other relatives. It did bring to light a small problem. Those relatives live in Seven Cloud Pack and Alpha Lincoln will never allow a member of that Pack within the borders of Gold Moon Pack or Black Valley Pack. Seven Cloud Pack is a mortal enemy of the Throne and it automatically makes them an enemy of Alpha Lincoln. If memory serves me right, the Alpha of Seven Cloud Pack believes that the Throne belongs to his family and throughout history, there have been numerous attempts on the lives of the King and his family. Seven Cloud’s Alphas have always been careful enough with their attempts to take over the Throne and only a handful of their Pack-members have been caught throughout the centuries. “Where did you go, Meadow?” I hear Milcah ask and I shake my head to clear my thoughts.“The dungeons. I am curious about his identity and how he came to be in our territory. The more I think about it, the more questions I come up with.” I answer her. “That is a lie and you know it. I will let it slide for the moment, but you will tell me the truth, Meadow.” Milcah says through the mind-link. Well, I’ll be damned. Milcah has a neat ability, not sure if I like it much.
