Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 120 Shared Ability

Milcah’s p.o.v. I wake up to the sound of Magnus’ heartbeat and feeling sore in all the right places. I have no idea what time it is and I don’t really care. All I want at the moment is to lie here in Magnus’ arms and forget anything else exists for a while. It surprises me that the bed survived the night. I was sure it would snap in two during round three or four, but even after we were both exhausted, the bed was still standing. Lyrexia is curled up in the back of my head. Relaxed, happy and sated after a night with her Mate. I can’t even remember if I ever slept this well in my life, but I can definitely get used to it. I gently push against my mind-link with Mom, once I remember that I wasn’t the only one who found her Mate. Mom is still asleep and relaxed in the arms of Elder Major, who also feels very calm. “What the fuck.” I call out as I shoot up straight, waking Magnus in the process. How the hell am I able to feel someone else’s emotions? “Are you okay, Baby?” Magnus asks. “You do remember what happened last night, don’t you?” He sounds anxious and I feel his emotions going haywire. He stares at me as if I have answers to a question he has and I giggle when I realize what happened. “We both got our abilities, but I doubt anyone wants to have my gift. On the other hand, it could be helpful. Especially, if it turns out I can use it to determine lies.” I mumble and I hear Magnus chuckle. “Are you telling me that we can feel other Shifters’ emotions?” Magnus asks while he pulls me on top of his chest. My finger is running circles through his chest hair and I try to remember what I know about this gift. It is more complex than what we have uncovered and we need to practice with it to develop it to its full potential. I tell Magnus what I remember about this ability and I allow myself to reach out to anyone on the Alpha floor. At first, I feel nothing. Until I have located Luna Leona and Alpha Lincoln, both feel calm with an undertone of anxiousness. “I think we need to talk to your parents. They seem to be anxious, but are trying hard to hide their feelings.” I say and he closes his eyes as I look at him. He opens them a second later and confirms what I felt from his parents. “Someone is approaching the Alpha floor by using the Omega stairwell.” Magnus says as he lifts me and walks into his walk-in closet with me in his arms. “No one is supposed to use it today, all the Omegas have the morning off.” I feel the same thing Magnus did, but I also feel ill intentions running through this person. I ask Magnus to concentrate on the person and to tell me what he feels. “Whoever it is, is up to no good. Who do you think they are gunning for?” Magnus asks. I can only think of one person and that is Mom; she is worth millions to Ferdinand. “Mom, wake up. Get Elder Major and come to Magnus’ room.” I call out through our mind-link and a second later, she confirms that they will be here shortly. “Our Betas are coming up the Omega stairwell, and our Gammas will take the usual route. Whoever is sneaking up those stairs will be in for a huge surprise,” Magnus says. For a moment, I wonder why he said our Betas and Gammas. His finger traces over my mark, a reminder of last night and the future that lies ahead of us. None of his clothes fit me and I am about to walk back into the room to grab my panties when Mom walks in with Elder Major. She looks so happy and I smile when I notice the mark on her neck. “Is my Son in law decent or do I have to toss this bag into the closet?” Mom asks with her back turned toward me and Magnus walks out to turn her toward the walk-in closet, giving her a little push in my direction. “Thanks, Mom. I was about to put on my nightwear, but clean clothes are very welcome.” I say as I pull her into the closet and grab the bag from her hand. She grabbed a few panties and bras, which somehow match in color and she also grabbed two yoga pants with matching shirts. After I get dressed, I sit next to Magnus on the bed and we all wait for someone to open the door. “Coast is clear. We caught the intruder.” I hear Meadow say after she has opened the door slightly. Malek is escorting him to the dungeons and you have some explaining to do, Magnus.” She doesn’t wait for a response or for us to open the door any further. She walks back to the living room and we follow behind her. “Should we try to read the room first?” Magnus asks and I slowly shake my head. Everyone will know, once they see us and I don’t plan on hiding my mark for anyone. “He is locked up and Captain Miles will interrogate him to find out who sent him and how he knew to use the Omega stairwell.” I hear Malek say, but no one responds because Mom and Uncle Major walk into the room. “Congratulations, Uncle Major.” I hear Meadow whisper. “Please, take good care of him.” I pull Magnus back a little. I want to give them some time before the next bomb drops and Magnus pulls me into his arms, burying his face in my neck. A gesture I will never grow tired of, for as long as I live. “Let’s go. Mom is getting anxious and I have no idea why.” Magnus says and reluctantly, I step out of his arms. I interlock our fingers because I don’t want to miss the connection and I smile at him before we walk toward the living room. Everyone is looking at us as we enter the living room and before anyone can utter a word, Luna Leona has her arms wrapped around me. I feel the anxiety leave her as she holds me tight and I move my free arm around her waist. “I am so happy for both of you. I was worried for a moment when you didn’t find your fated Mate at midnight, especially after what happened with Cynthia.” Luna Leona says as she looks at Magnus. “Mom, you weren’t worried for a second. You and Dad still felt anxious until you saw me walk in with Milcah. There is no reason to deny it; we both felt it.” Magnus says. I guess they all know that we have at least one ability and that we share it.
