Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 111 No Title

It is clear that Elder Josiah’s remark caused a lot of turmoil within the borders of Frozen Star Pack. “Alpha Lincoln, my Squad has taken over border patrol. Many Pack-members have abandoned their posts and we will keep these borders protected.” Captain Miles says as he walks into the living room Alpha Ferdinand roars as he shouts through the mind-link. “Get back to your patrols.” No one obeys his order, because his Alpha power is too weak to force a command through the mind-link. Not that his guests are aware of the order he gave or the fact that no one responded to it. Magnus is handed the file that Elder Josiah brought along and he opens it to make sense of the mess that Frozen Star Pack is in. Only two Shifters in that living room know the truth, but it doesn’t look like they will admit to the truth. Dresden was the Beta of Frozen Star Pack when his Alpha became ill, but he managed to keep it hidden from the Pack. He would inform the Pack of any decisions his Alpha made and kept the Omegas from the Alpha floor to prevent his secret from coming to light. Dresden went looking for the rightful heir of Frozen Star Pack, but any family member who had a claim to the title was no longer alive. Each of them, who had the strength of an Alpha, died without any offspring. The only living relative his Alpha had left was a Beta with a younger brother and after every lead turned into a dead end, he made a calculated decision. Ferdinand would become the next Alpha of Frozen Star Pack. “Why didn’t Ferdinand get the Alpha powers after the former Alpha passed away?” Magnus asks after he has read the file. “Besides handing down the power from Father to son, there are two other ways to gain those powers. The first one would involve the former Alpha, who needs to hand over power to the next Alpha. The second would involve the King and the Elders. We would have examined whether he was entitled to the title, and it may not surprise you, but he indeed had the right to it. After that, the King would have performed the Ceremony to hand over the title and the power that comes with the position.” Elder Josiah answers. Damn, he could have had the position with all the powers that came with it. Dresden looks very uncomfortable with Elder Josiah's explanation and Ferdinand is staring daggers at him. There seems to be more to uncover, but I doubt that these two want anyone to find out the truth. “We know that he has no Alpha power and that tells us that the former Alpha died before Ferdinand arrived at Frozen Star Pack. Why he never asked the King to perform the Ceremony is a question only he can answer.” Elder Josiah continues. Everyone looks at Ferdinand for answers, even though some of them have an idea as to why the Elders were never informed.“You wanted to stay in control and knew the Elders would never appoint you as the Alpha. You knew that you could keep information from me and took advantage of that. Is that why you told me never to mark my fated Mate?” Ferdinand asks. “Katreena deserved to be a Luna and you were the only way she would get that title. Her fated Mate was the Head Warrior of some Pack down south and couldn’t give her the life she deserved.” Dresden responds. Elder Josiah is shaking his head with a little smirk on his face. He isn’t finished telling them everything he discovered, but one thing is still unclear to him. “Dresden, is there a family file for Zaphara?” Elder Josiah asks. The sole purpose of this question is to determine if her background is somehow mentioned in it. Ferdinand gets up to open a safe and pulls out Zaphara’s file to hand it to Elder Josiah. He nods his head as he reads through it and realizes that Zaphara’s secret wasn’t uncovered. “Zaphara’s ancestors came from Grand Valley Pack.” Elder Josiah says and allows everyone to let it sink in. “Zaphara is a descendant of Landon Daystone. He was the Alpha who challenged one of the previous Alphas of Frozen Star Pack, but he didn’t die instantly. He lived long enough to utter the words that transferred the Alpha power to his baby Sister.” He continues. You can almost hear the wheels turning in everyone’s head, trying to make sense of the information they have received.“So, let me get this straight. Zaphara comes from an Alpha bloodline, as does Ferdinand.” Alpha Lincoln says, his mind already connecting the next dot. “Which means that Milcah is stronger without Alpha powers than Ferdinand with the so-called title.” “Not only is she stronger than her Father because of her Alpha blood, she is also a Lycan. Zaphara never shifted in front of Pack-members and Ferdinand wasn’t present when Milcah shifted for the first time.” Elder Josiah responds. As you can imagine, Ferdinand isn’t happy to find out the truth. He knows he was cheated out of the Alpha powers by Dresden, but that wasn’t all. Dresden kept his fated Mate from him, who happens to be a Lycan and has Alpha blood running through her veins. The strongest Mate an Alpha can get paired with and he gave it up to please Dresden. “Where are my Mate and my Daughter?” Ferdinand asks as he looks at Elder Josiah. “Within the borders of Gold Moon Pack. My Warriors know what you and your leadership look like and you will be denied access to the territory. They are under my protection and I will do anything to keep them safe.” Alpha Lincoln responds. Ferdinand and Dresden both glare at Alpha Lincoln, both for their own reasons. One wants back the strong Mate he lost and the other wants to get rid of her. “I want my Mate returned to me. I am an Alpha and I need my Mate by my side.” Ferdinand demands, but Elder Josiah shakes his head. “The King won’t grant you the title after everything you did to your fated Mate and your Daughter. The title of Frozen Star Pack will go to your Brother’s firstborn and his second born gets the Beta title of your former Pack.” Elder Josiah states. Talk about getting screwed over, again and again.
