Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Magnus’ p.o.v. “Luna Katreena is talking about…” but I don’t get a chance to finish my sentence as the former Beta roars as he steps toward me. Gilliam pushes forward in a split second and the former Beta crashes to the floor. He was no match for the aura that Gilliam projected and Dad has to use his own aura to get Gilliam to back down. “I suggest that none of you interfere again. Or next time, I will not allow Alpha Lincoln to calm his Son down.” Elder Chelsea states. I wait until each of them has retaken a seat and allow Gilliam to look each of them in the eye, making sure that they realize that Gilliam and I are not playing games. “As I was trying to say, Luna Katreena. No, let me rephrase that, because we all know that she isn’t your Luna by law or in any other way. Katreena was talking about your fated Mate and your Daughter when she said that they were gone. The King, the Elders and we know the truth about Zaphara and Milcah. A Squad came into your Pack-house to take them to safety and they handled under orders from the King and the Elders.” I state. Most of them look angry, but I can’t tell you whether it is because we know the truth or that I refuse to call Katreena by her so-called title. “I am Frozen Star’s Luna. Zaphara will never have that title, not as long as I am still breathing.” Katreena mutters. “That can be dealt with.” Blade growls through our mind-link and I hear a few other Shifter halves agree with him. “I doubt Zaphara would want the title. She already rejected Ferdinand and denounced the Pack years ago. It is also the reason that Ferdinand didn’t know they had left the territory until Katreena came running down the stairs.” Elder Chelsea says. Landis seems a bit shocked; he clearly didn’t know the whole story. The others don’t look surprised and it is safe to say that they have discussed this at the very least or they could have been present when it happened. “I don’t understand this. Mom is our Pack’s Luna and therefore mated to the Alpha. Dad, what is going on?” Landis asks. He is genuinely confused about all this. He turns his attention toward me when his family refuses to answer him, hoping that at least I will be honest with him. “Zaphara was Ferdinand’s fated Mate, but she rejected him after he slept with your Mother and put her through the betrayal pains. Milcah is his Daughter and his firstborn, which makes her Frozen Star’s heir.” Elder Chelsea answers him. “Landis will be taking over from Ferdinand. He is an Alpha’s Son and has every right to that title.” Katreena says with confidence. Elder Chelsea grabs a file from her bag and tosses it across the table toward Landis, who quickly grabs it before anyone else can react. He opens the file to find one single piece of paper, their Pack-law of succession. “He doesn’t know, does he?” Landis asks. We all know who and what he is talking about. It is a question we have asked over and over again: Why is Ferdinand unaware of this information? “I can’t take over, because the two of you aren’t fated Mates. This Pack belongs to Milcah and no one else.” Landis says as he looks at his parents. “Even if she were to sign over the Pack to me, I have no interest in it." Okay, didn’t see that one coming. I suspected that Landis was aware of who Milcah was to him and that he wanted the Alpha position. He seemed like the type who feels entitled to the position, just because he has a dick. Alpha Ferdinand is radiating anger, but for an Alpha, it is weak. And that is when a thought pops into my head. What if Ferdinand isn’t an Alpha? “Elder Chelsea, can you find out the history of this Pack? Something is off and it has everything to do with Alpha Ferdinand.” I ask her. She nods her head and I know we will be stuck here a few days longer. “Alpha Ferdinand, we will be staying here for at least one more day. Please, prepare some rooms for us.” Elder Chelsea says, not giving him any room to argue with her. I hope that we can resolve this within the next two to three days or I will miss the Full Moon party that Mom is organizing for Gold Moon Pack. She has even invited a few Alphas to attend with their unmated Pack-members.“Just to make sure you are aware. My Squad is outside your borders and they will make sure that no one can escape.” Meadow states, before she walks out of the room with her Mates on her heels. Alpha Ferdinand tries to object, but Dad is quick to shut him down. Like most Alphas, Ferdinand is also smart enough to stay in Dad’s good graces. “Alpha Ferdinand, the rooms are going to be ready in an hour and dinner is almost done.” An Omega says from the doorway. All of them seem hesitant to walk into the room and with what I now know about him, it doesn’t surprise me at all. “Thank you for the information.” Dad says before he looks at me. “Find your Betas, I want them in here where I can see them.” My Gammas follow me out of the room and we head straight out of the Pack-house. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that my Betas are no longer in the Pack-house and I guess we will find them near one of the borders. “You know who to look out for. Wake me if necessary, I want to know when they try something.” Captain Miles says while Meadow is standing beside him. Her team stayed with Elder Chelsea and Dad, not that they need the protection detail. On our way back to the Pack-house, Meadow explains that the Squad members will take turns sleeping and Captain Miles doesn’t want to miss any information from the patrols. “Will they behave themselves during dinner?” Makay asks. “If they show their faces, you mean. I wouldn’t set foot in the dining room if I were one of them.” Myka responds.
