Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 107 The Truth

Magnus’ p.o.v. “Elder Chelsea, if during the investigation you find Pack-members who want to leave this territory, Black Valley and Gold Moon will take them in.” Dad says. Alpha Ferdinand growls softly. There isn’t much else he can do, unless he is willing to go to war with Dad. “Lunch is ready.” The same Omega from earlier says from the doorway and we witness another act of blatant disrespect. Landis and Katreena get up at the same time and walk out of the living room, nearly knocking over the Omega on their way out. Alpha Ferdinand is a little slower in leaving the room, but he doesn’t follow protocol for visiting Elders and Alphas. None of us has gotten up yet and it is a good thing, because we're getting some crucial information from one of the Renegades who busted out Milcah and Zaphara. I doubt we would have been able to hide our surprise from Alpha Ferdinand. “Let’s go to the dining room and see if they have some manners after all.” Elder Chelsea says. It should come as a surprise to you, but the three of them are already eating and in quite a disgusting way, I might add. “Luna Katreena, did you and Ferdinand ever discuss waiting to have children after finding one another?” Elder Chelsea asks once we have all taken a seat. Before Alpha Ferdinand gets a chance to stop Luna Katreena from answering, she turns to Elder Chelseawith an annoyed look on her face. Yeah, she is going to dig her own grave. “Elder Chelsea, any Luna that finds her Mate wants to give him an heir as soon as possible and I am not any different. Of course, we wouldn’t wait to have children.” Luna Katreena answers. “Frozen Star Pack needed an heir and as his Mate, it was my duty to make sure he had an heir.” “Then I would like you to explain something to me. Why is it that Landis wasn’t conceived on a Full Moon?” Elder Chelsea asks and it finally dawns on Luna Katreena that she has been played. She looks at Alpha Ferdinand for help, but he is too busy arguing with his Wolf to be of any help to her. “I have a theory about that. You are not Ferdinand’s fated Mate and from the way the two of you act around one another, it is safe to say that he never marked you as his Mate.” Elder Chelsea says. It takes her a few seconds to conclude that no one is coming to her aid. After yelling at Alpha Ferdinand to get his attention, but not getting it, she storms out of the dining room. Landis’s lack of response to his Mother’s outburst tells me that it is common for them to act like this with one another. Which, of course, would be normal if Alpha Ferdinand’s Wolf still had an interest in his fated Mate and not the Mate his Human had chosen. “Where did Katreena go?” Alpha Ferdinand asks once he is done arguing with his Wolf. “My guess is the Alpha floor. She didn’t like it when Elder Chelsea gave her our theory about your relationship.” Dad states. “We know that she isn’t your fated Mate and we even have proof of it. Someone within your territory wanted to make sure that the Elders knew what you had done and are still doing.” No one says a word as we wait for a response from Alpha Ferdinand, but we don’t get one as Katreena comes down the stairs, screaming bloody murder. She is running down the stairs as her words become clearer with every passing second. “THEY ARE GONE.” She screams over and over, while she runs into the dining room. “Who is gone?” Elder Chelsea asks, even though we all know who Katreena is talking about. Alpha Ferdinand is linking someone and a moment later, a male who resembles Katreena walks in. This has to be the former Beta and from the looks of it, he is at death’s door. “What can I do for you, Ferdinand?” He asks as he walks toward Katreena. “I heard Katreena screaming, but I wasn’t fast enough to hear what she was saying. “Dad, you shouldn’t be out of bed. Ferdinand can deal with this issue and my Brother can help him if he needs any help.” Katreena says as she tries to guide her Father out of the dining room. He pulls his arm away from her and gives her a disgusted look before he turns his attention back to Alpha Ferdinand. He ignores the presence of an Elder and an Alpha, not a wise choice for a Beta in bad health. Dad allows his aura to slip a little and the former Beta crashes to the floor. Dad doesn’t keep his aura out and the former Beta slowly gets up from the floor. He needs a few seconds to catch his breath after being subjected to an Alpha’s aura. “My apologies. I hadn’t noticed that we had visitors or I would have shown you the respect that you deserve, Elder Chelsea.” He says with a slight bow. He only glances at Dad for a second and bows even deeper to show respect to Dad. “Alpha Lincoln, it is an honor to meet you again. The last time that we met, you had just taken over from your Father.” The former Beta mumbles, his cheeks red with embarrassment. I glance sideways at Dad and see his eyes change color rapidly. Kenyon doesn’t like this guy and Gilliam isn’t far behind. Something about this guy screams fraud, but I can’t tell for sure if he is faking something. “I never trusted him and neither does your Grandfather.” Dad informs me through our mind-link. Gilliam growls softly in my head. We both know what that remark means. This man or this Pack has been on Grandpa’s shitlist for one reason or another and to get there, you have to really piss off the old man. “Luna Katreena, you said they are gone. Who are you talking about?” Elder Chelsea asks as she locks eyes with Alpha Ferdinand. Her way of telling him to stay out of it or pay the consequences. Katreena is looking from her Mate to her Father and back again, but neither is coming to her aid. She is on her own to answer the question and I can feel the fear radiating from her. “Uhm, I was.. Uhm, I mean…” Katreena doesn’t know how to answer the question without revealing the truth about Alpha Ferdinand and his messed-up behavior. Not only toward his fated Mate and his Pack, but also toward herself. “Why don’t I answer that question?” I say as I get out of my seat, while keeping my eyes on Alpha Ferdinand. I don’t believe that he has any idea that we already know the truth and don’t need them to confirm it.
