Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
Magnus’ p.o.v. We have been in Renegade territory for a week and I already dread the day that we have to return to Gold Moon territory. No one is bugging me. I can walk around without a woman coming on to me and I can have a conversation with a woman without them reading more into it. Elder Chelsea has been participating in video conferences with Dad almost every day; she wants this situation to be resolved quickly. Mom, however, convinced her that it would be a bad idea and I am glad she did. Alpha Ferdinand knew that someone was living in his territory, but didn’t report it to the Elders, nor did he deal with it himself. I was surprised when I heard the recording that Milcah sent to the Elders, he would have returned the territory to Winston, if only he had asked. Winston’s trial was two days ago and the King didn’t need much time to sentence him to death. There is only one question we never got an answer to: Where did that prophecy come from? We didn’t get any answers from Winston in that regard; he refused even to acknowledge it. It doesn’t matter, though, we have the file with his notes on this so-called prophecy. “She should have been mine” Was all he kept saying, while he was staring at Meadow. I had to push Myka and Makay back into their seats more than once and they seemed to settle down once the King rendered the verdict and sentenced him to death. Dad asked to keep Winston’s death a secret until we could come up with a plan to extract Milcah and Zaphara from the territory. “Good morning.” Elder Josiah says as he walks into the meeting room. “Today, I want to discuss the best way to enter Frozen Star territory. We need an excuse to enter the territory and we need this Squad in place.” Meadow has been studying the borders of their territory and has taken a look at the map to pinpoint every road that leads toward Frozen Star Pack. Dad and I have gone over every excuse the Elders could use to enter the territory, but we haven’t been lucky enough to come up with the right one. It has to be a plausible one or Alpha Ferdinand will never allow the Elders to enter his territory. “Couldn’t we use Winston’s presence in Grand Valley territory as an excuse?” Myka suddenly asks. Dad is looking at him as if he has grown a second head. Not because he is surprised that Myka came up with it, but because of the fact that we didn’t think of it. The Elders are pleased with the solution Myka offered and now we can help the Elders plan accordingly for their visit. We need to ensure that Alpha Ferdinand doesn’t suspect anything; we don’t want to spook him and risk Milcah and Zaphara getting hurt. So much is still unclear about the situation between Alpha Ferdinand, his chosen Mate and his fated Mate and none of us is willing to take a chance. “Taking an entire Squad with you will raise questions, Elder Chelsea. Alpha Ferdinand will never allow you to bring them into his territory and I can’t blame him for that.” Dad states. “How about Meadow’s team going with the Elders?” Makay offers. “Meadow has two reasons for being there and it will explain our presence as well.” I let his plan run through my head, but I can’t make any sense of it. I am unable to find a reason for Meadow to be there, let alone two reasons. “Meadow is going to be Gold Moon’s Beta female and Winston attacked our territory, that is reason one. Reason two is that Winston was after her and her gift.” Makay explains. “As the Alpha of Gold Moon Pack, Alpha Lincoln has the right to question Alpha Ferdinand about not reporting anyone settling in his territory. That will be the reason for all of you to be with the Elders and my team will act as a protection detail.” Meadow says. Meadow is right, Dad has the right to question Alpha Ferdinand in the presence of the Elders. He should have reported this to the Elders and taken precautions to chase whoever settled in his territory out. Each day, we discuss our plans for visiting Frozen Star Pack and try to devise a strategy to get Milcah and Zaphara out of there. It wasn’t easy at first because we had no idea how well-protected their borders are, but a team was sent out to investigate. At least, now we are aware of their patrols and the Warriors at the gate. I rolled my eyes when the first report came in, because Alpha Ferdinand doesn’t protect his borders too well and he has a huge secret to hide. With all the information we have at the moment, I am confident that we can get Milcah and Zaphara out of there without much trouble. I believe we can even get them out without anyone noticing they are gone. It is a pleasure to work with Meadow on this case and I look forward to our future together as the leadership of Gold Moon Pack. We will make numerous changes to that Pack and the Pack-laws to make it an excellent place for Shifters to live in. “Do you think we will find our fated Mate soon?” Gilliam asks. It is a question he asks every time another Full Moon approaches and I never have an answer for him. We both would like to have our Mate before taking over Gold Moon Pack. “We will have to travel to other Packs to find her. We know she isn’t in Goold Moon territory or Black Valley territory. Let’s wait until after this Full Moon before we start our search.” I respond. It isn’t the answer he wants, but it is the only answer I have for him at the moment. We still have ten days to the next Full Moon and I would like to spend it with my family after this situation is resolved. “Where do we take Milcah and Zaphara after we get them out of the territory?” Pablo asks. “To Gold Moon territory. Whether you get away undetected or not, our territory is tough to get into and I have already appointed a few members to the task of keeping them safe.” Dad responds.I know who will be keeping an eye on Milcah and Zaphara. They are the best for the job and Meadow was right to suggest it.
