The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary
Inti’s p.o.v. We didn’t know what to expect when we heard the sounds from the tree line, but seeing a dark grey Wolf emerge from the trees wasn’t it. You don’t have to be a genius to understand that those four Wolves are after the dark grey Wolf, but Ronion chuckles when a silver Wolf barrels into the male Wolf and I keep my eyes on the dark grey Wolf. Seeing them slam the head of the dark grey Wolf into the tree, is enough for Ronion to try to push forward and I have to yell at him to stop him from trying to take control. I wish I hadn’t stopped him, because it costed us a few precious moments and now they are taking off with the unknown female. Ronion is moving the moment I allow him to take control, I give an order through the mind-link and I know it will be carried out.Ronion slows down a little near the tree line, taking the time to smell the female’s blood and he runs off again. The four Warriors behind me do the same as Ronion, making sure we all can follow her scent and hopefully get her back before they manage to reach their Pack’s territory. We all know what will happen to the female if we don’t find her in time and with this being unfamiliar terrain for us, I hope that one of the Warriors took a good look at our map. “Is there a Pack nearby?” I ask through the mind-link and I really hope that one of them can give me an answer. Because if these Wolves know where they are going we might never find her again and Ronion and I can’t let that happen. “No Pack in the vicinity, Alpha.” Is the answer and I can feel relief wash through the Warriors. Her scent comes from two different directions and that means that one of the trails if from her running towards us, but which one are we to follow. “Alpha, the scent is getting stronger on this end.” One of the Warriors to my right says over the mind-link and we all head to the left as one, speeding up just a little more. If they were chasing them for more than a few hours, they will all be near exhaustion and that will work to our benefit. Ronion is straining his hearing and each small sound has him on high alert, but so far we haven’t heard anything to indicate how far ahead they might be. A blood curdling scream has us taking a sharp turn to the left and the scene in front of me has me laughing my ass off. A butt naked female has one of the males on his knees, his ear between her thumb and index finger and she is squeezing it with every ounce of strength she has. “Don’t come any closer or I will kill this Idiot that calls himself my Brother.” She says in a menacing voice and none of us doubts that she would. “Circle around them, I don’t want them to get away.” I order two of the Warriors with me and I slowly take a step forward, hoping that the female will trust me enough to let me get closer. She doesn’t turn around to see who is approaching, but the other two males take a step back. They both know that they are dealing with an Alpha and that there is no escaping their punishment, not on my watch. “Indigo, let go of my ear.” The male on his knees growls softly, but that causes her to pinch his ear even harder and he releases a high pitched squeal. “Jack, if anything has happened to Jocelyn, I will allow Kardia to kill all three of you and trust me when I say that she is going to enjoy that a lot.” Indigo responds and I just look at her Brother, Jack. I see movement behind the males and I know that my Warriors are in position, so I order one of the others to shift. Hopefully he can put her mind at ease and allow her to concentrate on the situation at hand. “Our Gamma was watching your friend, if that Wolf got a chance to hurt her Our Gamma took his Life.” The Warrior says and I can hear her sigh in relief. “Noooo.” I hear one of the other males call out, but it is too late. Indigo has slashed her Brother’s throat with her claw and she drops his dead body to the ground. “Those two are all yours, I am too tired.” Indigo says, before I see her fall to the ground and Ronion is fast enough to place himself under her falling body. My Warriors don’t need me to tell them anything, they do as Indigo asked and kill the two males within the blink of an eye. After someone managed to put a shirt on Indigo, they place her on Ronion’s back and we head back the way we came. We keep walking until we leave the forest behind and start to slowly run in the direction of the convoy, I just hope that Jocelyn is fine. Jack might have been her Brother, but Indigo’s bond with Jocelyn is stronger and both were willing to die for the other. I wonder how that is possible, because usually a sibling bond rivals with that of a Mate-bond, at least it did in the old days. One of the Warriors takes off at high speed and I look at the Warrior running next to me, “He is going to see how far ahead they are, Doc needs to take a look at Indigo and rather sooner than later.” He says. Ronion and I feel proud of our Pack-members, they don’t always need us to tell them what to do or what is the right cause of action. They know what we expect of them and within which boundaries they are free to operate on their own. “Damn, Alpha. Good to hear you are on the way back.” I hear Josehp’s voice say in my head and it gives Ronion the incentive to run just a little faster, he doesn’t want to risk dropping Indigo. I see the convoy ahead of us and it almost seems as if they are standing still, if they were in a competition with a snail, the snail would win.
