The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary
Lakota Lance and Peter are walking along the foundation, talking about the position of the backdoor, and I decide to look at the remainder of the overgrowth that is left between this foundation and the cottage Peter and Mylana live in. I walk along the mountainside as I walk towards the cottage, and I notice there isn't much left to clear. I look up the mountainside and I wonder if it would be possible to climb it; probably not from this point, but maybe somewhere else. I am so focused on the mountainside I don't see a tree root sticking out, and I nearly fall flat on my face, but luckily I am able to grab a branch to keep me on my feet. I follow the mountain a few more steps before I see something I hadn't expected; the mountain doesn't turn to the right to become our northern border, and as I move closer the smile on my face becomes bigger. "Lotus, I knew it. We found the entrance," I yell at her, and she hides her head under her paws. As I turn around to go back to Lance, Lotus stops me and tells me to go looking for the hidden territory; we slowly walk towards the entrance. I look up to see that the mountain does connect; about 10 feet from the ground there is some sort of ceiling, and I am grateful for my Lycan eyesight. The passageway is wide enough for a Wolf or a Lycan to run through, and even a grown male can run through here without hurting himself, if he is familiar with the passageway, that is. Four steps into the passageway it becomes pitch black as Humans would call it, and after six more steps I can see light ahead of me. I slowly make my way through the passageway, and for a moment I just stare at the view in front of me; it is breathtaking. In every direction I look I see mountains, and if my perception of this is correct, the hidden territory is about four times the size of our other territory. A smile spreads across my face. After I have taken a few steps out of the passageway, I notice two huge, collapsed buildings, and as I turn towards the building on my left I see remnants of what looks to have been a four-story building; if I had to guess I would say it housed Warriors. Suddenly the backdoor in the foundation makes sense; it was a way for the Warriors to come and go without anyone noticing. I turn towards the other collapsed building, and I know without a question of doubt that this used to be the Pack-house; I smile as I walk towards it. I stop in front of the steps leading to what was once the front door and look to my left and my right to see that it is easily three times the width of the Pack-house we already rebuilt.I try to imagine how many floors this Pack-house had by looking at the debris, but it is hard to figure it out, and I know I won't find out until we have cleared all the debris from this spot. I walk around the building with caution; I don't want anything to start sliding, and I definitely don't want to alert Lance and Peter to the fact that I found the hidden territory. Just as I make my way back to the front of the Pack-house, Lance links me for lunch. "On my way, just checking what we still need to clear," I tell him, and that is when I see something glimmer in a bush next to the building. I bend down to see what it is, and I smile as I see a small lock box with a crest carved into it; a mountain range with two pairs of eyes peeking at me. This must be the crest of the Pack that once lived here, and I am glad I took my backpack with me; I place the lock box inside as I make my way back to Peter and Lance. As I walk out of the trees I am holding the map in front of me, and to them it looks as if I am checking something. Peter asks me if clearing the rest is going to take long, and I look up from the map to answer him. "No, by the end of today we should be finished. There is not much left between here and your cottage." We walk the rest of the way in silence as I try to figure out how to bring up the hidden territory. As we sit down to have lunch, Lance tells everyone that there is not much left to clear, and Josh asks if we have found the entrance to the hidden territory, but Lance has to disappoint him. I reach into my backpack to grab the lock box and I hand it to my Dad with a smirk on my face. He looks at the crest carved into the lid, and suddenly his eyes widen. "Where did you find this?" Dad asks as Lance takes the box from him, and I look at Josh as I say, "Near the Pack-house in the hidden territory."
