The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary

Chapter 27 Faint Connections

Lakota "Jeff, is there a female in your life?" I ask him, and he tells me he has been seeing an Omega, but that she has been avoiding him ever since he asked her to become his chosen Mate. His Daughter looks mad as hell at his words, and I link my Father, "Ask her if she has something to do with the Omega avoiding her Father." Dad does as I ask of him, and she confirms that she threatened to make her life a living hell if she accepted her Father as her chosen Mate. "Colton, take her down to the dungeons. Marcos, show him the way and then get back up here," Uncle Chris says before Jeff can harm his Daughter. Uncle Chris links the Omega to come to the Alpha floor, and he asks Jeff to sit down again. Marcos walks back into the room followed by Colton and a female that I assume is the Omega Jeff told us about. Jeff tells her that he knows what his Daughter did and that Alpha Chris has put her in the dungeons. "I meant every word I said when I asked you to be my chosen Mate, and I am sorry my Daughter threatened you; I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you, and I will love you until my last breath," he says as he looks at her, and she runs into his arms as she is crying. * Yesterday turned out pretty good after Jeff proclaimed his love to his Omega, and she told him that she suspected that she was pregnant, but that she was waiting for the test results to come back. When I told them that I suspected that the sample his Daughter stole belonged to her, Jeff had a huge smile on his face. Doc confirmed he had gotten all her test results back that morning and that she was indeed with Pup. Everyone congratulated them with the news. After we said goodbye to Jeff and his Omega, we had dinner in the main dining room and we received quite a few confused looks, until I realized some of them must have met Dad before. Lance and I had a talk with Dad about when we would leave, and we decided to leave after lunch, after all our destination wasn't going anywhere. "Lance, what do you feel through the Pack-bond?" I ask him; it has been bothering me all morning, and I hope he can help me figure this out. It is as if I am feeling a few faint connections to our Pack-bond, but I can feel all of our members strongly. Lance tells me what he is feeling, and it is the same thing I am feeling. Both of us decide to walk around the territory to see if it becomes stronger or weaker. After ten minutes or so, Lance stops dead in his tracks and pushes me towards the left; I feel the connection getting stronger, but it is still very faint. We walk through the forest at the back of the territory. Suddenly, we clear the tree line and we are standing in front of a cottage. A male that smells familiar walks into view, and he nearly stumbles when he sees me. He looks at me as if he has seen a ghost, and I see a female and two more males stepping out of the cottage, all three of them staring at me with eyes as big as saucers. "Dad, grab Uncle Chris and get to the back of the territory," I say through the mind-link as Lance places his hand on my lower back. I don't say anything as I am waiting for Dad to show up; maybe he knows why the male smells familiar to me and why they look at me as if they know me. It only takes minutes before Dad comes running from the tree line, and he skids to a halt when he looks at the Lycans in front of us. "Kobal," Dad whispers, and it seems to wake the four of them up. Kobal walks over to Dad to give him a hug as he whispers, "Is that Lakota?" Dad introduces me to Kobal, and I finally find out why he smelled so familiar; he had been my bodyguard from birth. He would always hold me if Mom or Dad were busy and needed to have their hands free for a moment. I refused to let anyone else hold me; just my parents and Kobal could keep me calm. Kobal introduces us to Argos, his younger Brother, Jahi, his younger Sister, and Cian, his Nephew. Dad asks how they survived, and Kobal bursts into tears as he apologizes for leaving his post that day, but Mom had told him she would be fine. Kobal had received a call from his oldest Sister that her Mate had died, and Mom practically ordered him to go see her; that he had been reluctant to leave the two of us. His Sister had died a few hours after they had gotten there, leaving Cian behind, and he knew Mom wouldn't mind if he took him in. When they had arrived here on the way home, they had been informed that the Pack had been slaughtered, but he refused to believe that all was lost as he still felt the Pack-bond, and so do his siblings. The more time I spend around them, the stronger the connection becomes, and I ask Lance if he can feel it too. "Mind telling me what the two of you are discussing?" Dad asks, and Lance nods his head as an answer to my question. "I felt very weak connections this morning, and I asked Lance about it, so we went looking for the source. The longer I am standing here, the stronger the connection becomes; even Lance can feel it," I answer. Quinn and Darrius are the next ones to arrive at the cottage, and both of them tell us they can feel the connections too. Dad seems confused as to why he can't feel them. "Maybe because the connections have always been there; they survived, so the Pack-bond didn't get severed, and you were never stripped of your title," I mumble.
