The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary

Chapter 201 Overprotective Mates

Umayza I glide off Mylo’s back when we reach our destination and almost every one shifts back to their Human form, only my protection detail remains in Wolf form. They will take care of any dead bodies and they will stay in hiding as a last defensive line against Khonsu and his men. Evander and Conri may not have asked me to stay at Silver Lotus Pack, but their actions tell me they wished I had stayed with Ma and Asilda and I am ready to hand them their asses. I shove them aside as they block my way and I shake my head as I hear Khonsu say, “Asteria is my Mate and I have every right to claim her back.” Conri thinks he knows why I am shaking my head, but as I answer Evander I see the twinkles in their eyes, “Did you lose your fucking mind?” Khonsu asks and as I knock on my head Yade asks what I am doing, she is in stitches the moment she hears my answer. “My Human… is nuts.” She mumbles between her laughs, but she sobers up immediately when Khonsu’s men attack our group and I toss one of the males towards Theron who takes his head off without blinking an eye. Within minutes the fight is over and I tell my Mates that I am fine, but apparently they do not understand that sentence. After I introduce myself to Alpha Amarah and Alpha Theseus my protection detail emerge from the forest, Alexia walks up to me in Wolf form to shift the moment she is standing next to me, “Little Ghost, the bodies are taken care of.” She says as she pulls a dress over her head. Conri introduces the rest and after Alpha Theseus promises that we can talk to them in the morning we all head home, Gamma Ione tells us to be there at nine as they will have another meeting at ten. Papa is waiting for us on the front porch as we return and Mama rushes out the second she hears our voices.“Sweetheart, did everything go okay?” She asks and I turn to look at the others, “How did one of you manage to tattle on me?” I ask and Orion is laughing his ass off, but no one else seems to understand what I am talking about. That is until I ask Mama who told her I threatened her Sons and my Mates groan out loud. Mama asks me what happened as she guides me inside and I tell her how my Mates acted which makes Papa chuckle, the others say goodnight as they go to their cottage. I tell Mama and Papa that we have a meeting in the morning with Alpha Amarah and Alpha Theseus. “Yeah, I bet they want to thank you for your help.” Mama responds and I let them think that that is the reason for our meeting. After we have something to drink and a little small talk we all head of to bed, which in my case means getting carried up the stairs by Conri. He places me gently on the bed before he kneels down to take my shoes off and I smile at him as Evander grabs me one of his shirts to sleep in. I haven’t worn any of my own sleepwear since we marked one another, but it doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. I am not sure if they are aware if it, but Conri helps me undress when I am sleeping in Evander’s shirt and vice versa. When Yade pointed it out I had been surprised, but paying attention to it I saw that she was right and I love them for how they take care of me. Evander I wake up with a smile on my face as I feel our Little Mate sprawled across my chest and I am surprised to see Conri sitting in an armchair staring out the window, “What are you doing there?” I ask him and he looks at me over his shoulder before his eyes wander to our Mate. “Making a list of everything we are going to need for our Pups, Kane wants natural colors in the nursery and at least one rocking-chair. We have been discussing what kind of furniture we need, but we got stuck after the rocking-chair.” He answers me.“Can I join the conversation too?” our Little Mate asks and Conri quickly makes his way over to the bed to sit down beside us, telling her what we had been talking about. We all agree on natural colors, but Umayza isn’t sure about Kane’s idea for a rocking-chair. Conri and I look at her because we don’t understand why she is against the idea of a rocking-chair in the nursery and I ask her that exact question, “Babe, I am not against a rocking-chair. We are going to have three Pups and who can guarantee us that they won’t wake up simultaneously at night for a feeding. How do you plan on feeding them at the same time if there is only one chair in the nursery?” She asks and I realize that our Mate has a very valid point there. “Okay, three rocking-chairs it is.” Conri says and writes it down on his notepad, just before Mom walks in the room to tell us breakfast is ready. Mom takes the list from Conri and start reading it as she walks out of the room. The three of us get ready as we keep talking about the nursery and Umayza points out she wants a connecting door between our room and the nursery, making it easier to get to the Pups. Conri asks what she is hoping for and I realize our Mate can be very annoying if she wants to be, “How about three Cubs?” She asks and I hear Dad laughing somewhere down the hall as Conri just stares at her. “I don’t care as long as they are healthy.” She says with a smile on her face. During breakfast Dad asks if Mom would prefer Pups or Cubs for our offspring and Mom looks at Umayza before she turns to Dad and says that she doesn’t care, she just wants to become a Grandmother. Orion and the others are talking about Dad’s question and Conri says, “Bear shifters are a myth.” “Yeah.” Says Umayza. “Just like we were a myth to Humans, just because we never saw one doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Maybe they are better at hiding themselves than our ancestors.” She says and an entire new discussion unfolds at the table.
