Smelling the scent of my Mate pulls me from my thoughts and I look at him to hear what he came up with. “We will take two Warriors with us to keep an eye on the other cottages and we will stay near the back of the cottage, Malik can go in through the back as she enters the front. He will be able to catch her off guard, marking her will be fast and then we can get out of here.” Kendrick explains. I make sure I take two of our most seasoned Warriors with us. I don’t want anything to go wrong and these two Warriors have been around long enough to know what I expect from them. We quietly make our way over to the cottage and then the waiting game begins. Malik just informed me through the mind-link he is going to check on our two Warriors, he wants to see if their point of view on the cottages is enough to warn us in case of trouble. He is barely gone a minute when Wenonah gets grabbed by a female and from the corner of my eye I see Kendrick’s Wolf collapsing on the floor.I try to get away from the scene, but it is futile as I get tackled to the floor by a male and another male is quick to grab my arms. I look around to see where Malik and my Warriors are, but I hadn’t expected to see Malik holding onto both of them in their Wolf form. “Mom, what the fuck is Malik doing?” Wenonah asks through the mind-link, but her guess is as good as mine at the moment. Wenonah and I are staring daggers at him, but I doubt it impresses him much and when another male shows up with a bag Malik grabs the silver chains without flinching. He makes quick work of the chains and cuffs, making Kendrick and my Warriors shift back to their Human form. None of them says anything to Malik, but for some reason they trust him and I wonder if he has been playing us all these years. “Evander, everything okay in there?” One of the males asks and I see a Lycan step into my view. More than half of the males are Lycans and the females are all Werewolves. “Yes, Captain. Conri and Orion are sleeping on the couch in the living room.” He answers. Royal Warriors appear from behind one of the cottages and Council-member Boaz is with them. Looks like I just ran out of luck. I doubt I will get out of this and I think Malik might have something to do with it. Evander walks back into the cottage after he has asked two females to keep an eye on my Granddaughter. My jaw drops when I hear Evander explain that my investigator had not been completely honest with me, and like Wenonah I wonder why I need to know that his Lycan’s fur is a silvery color because he is part of a twin. I am annoyed with the fact he thinks I give a damn about the color of his Lycan. Wenonah voices my annoyance and I want to ask how any of us are supposed to know the color of Umayza’s fur, but Evander doesn’t waste time as he informs us that she has a silvery colored Wolf. It takes me a few moments before I realize that it means that Umayza is part of a twin. With the silver cuffs in place, I can’t link anyone for help or to find Umayza’s twin. I can’t even link Kendrick to tell him about her, and I think back on the day we caught up with Baylinn and Gray. How did they manage to keep her hidden from me and why did no one ever see her? “Calliope, do you want to know why I told you about the color of my fur?” Evander asks and I tell him I already figured it out. “Good for you. Do you know that you have spent quite a bit of time with Umayza’s twin?” Not only I stare at him in confusion, so do Wenonah and Malik.“Umayza was surprised to find out that silver fur meant that she was part of a twin and then she thought she had not only lost her Mother but also her twin, but guess what?” Evander asks. “Her twin survived and was raised by an Omega as her own Pup. He grew up in a Pack that didn’t hold it against him that his origin was unknown, nor did they hold it against him that he was raised by an Omega and he made quite a name for himself. Hell, you even hired him.” Evander explains and I am stunned to hear my investigator is Baylinn’s Son. Wenonah is staring at Evander as if she doesn’t believe him, but I think I finally figured out why Kendrick had felt that there was something strange about him. I see Evander looking behind me and when I turn my head I am looking at my Grandson. “Did you know?” I ask him. “No, not until Umayza told me her life story. I tried finding answers as I grew up, but I never found any answers. I don’t regret my life or the way I was raised and a part of me is even grateful for it. I doubt I would have been in this line of work if I had been raised by my Father and that would have meant I didn’t get this assignment. I wouldn’t have been able to warn Umayza about the danger she was in or for me to help the Council catch you. I did have a little help though and I think you already know from who.” He answers me as Malik walks towards him with a smile on his face. They greet one another and after that he introduces Malik to Evander and his twin Brother. Something tells me he wants to tell Malik something else, but he is smart enough not to say anything in front of us. Four Royal Warriors show up and they pull Wenonah and me to our feet before they start pushing us towards the SUVs. Part of me wants to ask Malik why he betrayed me, but I don’t ask him anything.
