The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary

Chapter 152 Jasper And Yade

Umayza Theron and Yonatan are watching us as Orion and I let our Wolves communicate with one another; it still startles me and Orion every time we see the other's Wolf in our head, and I have squealed a few times in response. Jasper keeps apologizing for scaring me, and I keep telling him he should stop apologizing. It is almost lunchtime when Jasper appears in my head again, but this time I am not startled by it, and I chuckle as he lays down next to Yade. "Orion, do you feel different from normal?" I ask him, and he shakes his head as he looks at me questioningly. I decide not to say anything because I would like to know if he will be able to tell that Jasper is with me and how long Jasper is able to stay with Yade in my head. I also want to find out if anyone can tell that Jasper is with me or that I still feel the same to everyone. I look at the two Wolves in my head, and I smile as I see Jasper curled around Yade, both of them fast asleep from learning to communicate with each other. "Blaze, is lunch almost ready? This communication exercise is exhausting, and if I don't get something to eat soon, I will fall asleep," I whine at her. Blaze chuckles through the mind-link before she tells me to head to the kitchen because lunch is almost ready. "Come on, guys. Lunch is almost ready; let's continue this after I have something to eat," I say as I get up from my seat and head inside, followed by Orion, Callan, and Yonatan. I sit down at the kitchen island in between Conri and Evander; both of them giving me a funny look, and without thinking about it, I get out of the seat to sit down at the table near the backdoor. Orion sits down next to me with a knowing look on his face, but he doesn't say anything. "Captain, what time will we be going to White Horn territory in the morning?" I ask before I shove some food into my mouth. I keep my eyes on my plate as I don't want to face my Mates; my thoughts start running through my mind again, and it is taking me to a place I never wanted to visit again. I don't even hear a response from Captain Armand; I don't hear Orion calling out to me as my world slowly turns black, and I sure as hell don't see the looks of fear on the faces of my Mates as I lose consciousness. Conri I know what it feels like to learn to communicate with your twin's Lycan or Werewolf, and I wish I had told Umayza about it before she had gone outside with Orion. Discussing what we were going to do kept my mind off Umayza and Yade; it kept both me and Evander busy. Evander pointed out that she would be exhausted after a few hours of learning about her Brother's Wolf and how to communicate with him. We had it easier than she and Orion will have it; we grew up together, and so did our Wolves. It will be a distraction if they didn't take time to learn to communicate. "Something is off with Umayza," Evander says as she sits down between us; I try to figure out what could be wrong, and I sense that Evander is correct. But apparently, we both screwed up somehow as she gets up to sit down at another table. "Umayza," I hear Orion say, and as I turn around, Evander is rushing towards her, catching her before she can hit the floor. I can still sense something different about Umayza, but I can't tell what is causing it, and as Evander puts her down on the couch, I ask Orion what happened outside. He looks at me as if I spoke a foreign language. "She feels different; I can sense something is different, and I am trying to find out what it is. This is not the way she normally feels to me, hence my question as to what happened outside," I explain, but he tells me nothing happened outside. "Orion, didn't Umayza ask if you felt different from normal?" Yonatan asks, and suddenly I know why she feels different to us. From the corner of my eye, I see that Evander is holding her hand as her eyes slowly open. "Orion, are you sure you don't feel different from normal?" I ask him, and he shakes his head. I step closer to Orion and look straight into his eyes to notice that Jasper is not there. "Can you tell me where Jasper is?" I ask him, and he tells me he retreated to the back of his head near the end of training. "Can you try to reach Jasper?" I ask him next. After a few minutes, he looks at me and tells me Jasper has put up a block he can't get down. "No, Orion. Do you recall I said Umayza felt different to me and Evander?" I ask while I turn towards our Mate. "The moment Umayza sat down between me and Evander, he noticed something was off, and when he pointed it out to me, we both looked strangely at Umayza, causing her to sit down at the other table. Umayza, we can feel if something is off with you. Only when you are close, as it doesn't work like the Mate-bond, but I know what happened outside, and I am surprised that Orion hasn't noticed it yet," I say, and I see guilt in her eyes as she looks from me to Evander.I quickly tell her there is nothing to feel bad about. "We screwed up before, and I understand that without the Mate-bond, it is difficult to feel or read our emotions. Orion, the reason you can't reach Jasper is because he is with Umayza and Yade," I say. I explain to everyone that if a bond between twins or triplets is strong, their Wolves or Lycans can go to the other's mind if they are close by. "Evander and I are not capable of doing it, but I should have known the two of you could. Umayza already asked if it was normal that she saw Jasper, and that should have been enough warning for us." Orion looks at Umayza to see if I am pulling his chain. "Conri is right; Jasper is with Yade, and they are both fast asleep in my head," she confirms with a huge smile on her face.
