The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary
Conri My heart slowly descends from my throat, and slowly but steadily, my heartbeat returns to normal. Umayza just knocked a Lycan to the ground with just one blow—she didn't knock him out, but it would give her enough time to get away if someone wanted to harm her. Theron gets to his feet with the help of Umayza, and he tells her she did a great job. "You will get even better once your Wolf and you have shifted for the first time. I'll remember to stay on your good side, because I don't want to find out if you can actually kick my ass," he says. We watch her as she keeps training with her group, but there is something not adding up here, and I have no idea what that is. The more people arrive on the training grounds, the stranger Umayza's team starts acting, and after another hour, Axel walks up to her. He puts his arm around her shoulder, and a low growl escapes my lips as Kane is not appreciative of his actions. Evander puts a hand on my shoulder, and I am reminded of the fact that we can't let her know what she is to us. I take a deep breath as I nod my head at him. Evander was right when he told me yesterday that we would not be able to hide it from her if we spent any time around her, and even though I hate to admit it, he was right when he suggested staying away from her until she turned eighteen. "How do you plan on doing this?" I ask Evander. I don't have to explain anything to him, and I know he is thinking about the best way to do this. My head moves towards the training grounds, but our little Mate is no longer there. "She went inside with her team," Theron says as he sees me looking around the training ground. "We have a debriefing with Council-member Armas in ten minutes. Let's go inside. Captain and Callan are already on their way up to the Council's Chamber." Evander and I follow Theron into the Academy as we talk through our mind-link. "We leave her a note as we agreed upon, and then we make sure we stay as far away as we can. I am not sure if or how long I can control Mylo around our little Mate," Evander says. "Kane is fighting me every step of the way as well. Even now, he is demanding we go in search of her, and it becomes more difficult to stay in control the longer we are here," I reply. "I just hope she will understand why we did this when she finds out she is our Mate." The elevator doors opening pulls us from our mind-link, and we spend the next hour answering every question the Council-members have. I am exhausted by the time we are done, and all I want right now is to take a shower and crash on my bed to sleep until morning. Dinner will be served in the auditorium in a few minutes, and we all decide to stay at the Academy for dinner. It will give us a chance to see our little Mate again. However, she is not there, and neither is her team. Gray tells us they went with Council-member Finlay to a Pack not far from here. I know Kane is not too happy with that, but without her intoxicating smell around, I have better control over him, and I know Evander is feeling the same. I know I don't want to leave her alone, but today has shown me that Evander is right. Without her around, I have better control over my Lycan. We say goodnight to Gray and the rest of our Squad before we go in search of Umayza's room. The moment we step inside, Kane starts to act erratic again, and Evander quickly places the note on her pillow before we high-tail it out of there. Umayza I felt it the moment their eyes landed on me, and I am glad Theron made a move real fast, because I think Conri or Evander would have stopped him. I missed them a lot while they were on assignment, and so did Yade. I haven't told anyone yet that she is already with me, and Yade has told me the time is not right yet. Theron had been surprised when I asked him to attack me, but I told him I wanted to see if he could grab me or that I would be able to dodge him, and I felt really proud of myself and Yade when he went down. Theron is not a small guy at 6'5", and he is a Lycan, making this even more thrilling. Blaze and Boris kept an eye out for trouble as more people came to the training grounds, and once Axel realized it became almost impossible to keep me safe, he called it a day. Conri and Evander seem to be engrossed in their mind-link, and I doubt they realize that we have left the training grounds. Dad and Council-member Finlay are waiting for us inside, and Dad has a smile on his face when we get asked to accompany Council-member Finlay. Axel looks at me to see if I feel comfortable with visiting a Pack. I know it is one of the oldest Packs still around from before the Human War, and I really would like to visit that Pack. We are given time to shower and change before we head out with Council-member Finlay. I am excited to go visit Little Crescent Pack and learn more about their history. Out of our group, I am the only one that can get this excited about visiting Alpha Kratos and Luna Asteria. There are four Packs left that existed before the Human War. Every other Pack from before that time was either annihilated or taken over by other newer Packs, and I get to visit one of the four Packs that survived that war. I had a blast talking to Alpha Kratos and Luna Asteria about the history of their Pack. Alpha Kratos even lent me their Pack journals, and I can't wait to see the look on Council-member Armas' face when he sees my essay on their Pack's history. Blaze and Boris had been playing with Inti, their little Pup who is starting to become more curious of his surroundings. He climbed onto Boris' back a few times to get himself a piggyback ride. Blaze was playing peek-a-boo with him by hiding herself behind Boris, and hearing the little Pup giggle is an amazing sound.By the time we get back, it is near midnight, and Tarja escorts me back to my room. We are still talking about our trip when we walk into my room, and a piece of paper on my pillow draws my attention. "What is that?" Tarja asks when she spots it as well. Umayza, Ever since we met, Conri and I have been at war with our Lycans. Spending the past few weeks away from you made it easier to deal with them. It is best for all involved to stay away from each other. We hope your training and studies will keep you occupied. Evander and Conri. Tarja, Blaze, and Alexia know that they are my Mates. I told them a few days ago as I had become obnoxious after them being away for so long.
