The Wolves Beneath the Sanctuary
Romano Tychon is laughing his ass off when Colton says that that is impossible, that we are too far apart at the moment for that to work. "Sorry if we have a better bond with our Mate than you do." I respond, and I explain to Colton that this is normal for Bear shifters. "And from Tychon's reaction, I believe the same goes for Feline shifters." I state. I think Tychon and I might need to talk to our Mates about what might be different with our bond; it will be good writing it down to educate our Pups, Cubs, and Kittens better. "Tychon, how old are Leopards when they shift for the first time?" I ask him, and I see Mylana looking at him with interest. He tells us that Feline shifters shift at the age of sixteen. "Okay, Wolves and Lycans shift for the first time at eighteen, and Feline shifters at the age of sixteen. Just to make sure no one gets scared to death, Malik and Ivan will shift for the first time at the age of ten. Their Bears will grow like them until they turn eighteen." I say, and I see Tychon look at me with surprise on his face. I explain that in the first few months they will shift at random, because they have to learn to control their feelings and their Bear's temper, and that they will resemble a Cub for the first two years. "They will have trouble at first standing and walking; they will have to get used to their new form, and then they have to learn how to control their strength. Wolves and Lycans train to gain strength and insight; Bears are naturally strong and they need to learn how to avoid injuring someone by accident. Mom told me that I knocked my Brother on his ass the day after I first shifted; I couldn't control my punches yet, and I had broken his arm when I had punched him because of a remark he had made." I say. Mylana has been writing while I spoke, and I know she will have a lot more questions for me and Tychon. I will answer all of them, so she can educate everyone that needs it. Shortly after that, we all get back into our vehicles and make the last stretch home. Our surroundings don't really look familiar to me; I wasn't awake for that long before we left, and when I was traveling with Ivan and Malik, my attention was on them instead of my surroundings. However, Colton is a good indication that we are getting closer to home. I can feel the excitement grow in him; he will soon be holding his Mate and Pups again. Josy When I woke up this morning, I was reminded of Mano returning home, of the fact that he left without me saying goodbye, and my mind ran away with me as it always does. I am not sure what happened, but somehow I know that Mano sensed the turmoil inside me, and he helped me to calm down through our bond, something Mom told me about when I was younger. I just thought it was something that only worked if you weren't too far apart, but maybe I don't remember Mom's words correctly. I send my love to him through our bond, letting him know that I will be waiting for him, and I smile as I feel him through our bond. "What has you smiling, Josy?" Sela asks as she sits down next to me. I tell her how I was feeling and what happened, but apparently I had remembered Mom's words correctly, because Sela tells me it is impossible to feel him. Alice points out that it might be something for Bear shifters, but Denali points out it goes for Feline shifters as well. Denali explains to us how the bond for Feline shifters works, and she suspects that it works the same for Bear shifters. We talk about the differences between the different kinds of shifters we know, and I feel my connection to Mano becoming stronger, meaning he is getting closer to home. Ivan and Malik are running ahead of me as we make our way towards the gate; they are so excited for Mano to come home, and if it had been up to them, we would have been here hours ago. They have been asking to go to the gate ever since they woke up, and it has been difficult to make them wait until it was almost time for Mano to come home. They aren't the only youngsters running towards the gate, and it is a noisy chaos in front of me. Warriors line the youngsters on both sides of the gate, making sure the bus and SUVs can get through without causing accidents, and the moment I hear an engine, the youngsters start screaming and yelling. "Uncle Mano, Uncle Mano." Ivan and Malik yell the moment the SUV drives through the gate, both of them jumping up and down to get his attention. I smile at him the moment our eyes meet; I see him mouth the words "I love you," and through our mind-link I tell him that I love him too. Once all the vehicles are inside the territory, the youngsters follow them; I see a lot of people emerging from the bus, and I had noticed a strange SUV between our own SUVs. Ivan and Malik are in Mano's arms as he makes his way through the crowd to get to me; I slide my arms around his waist the moment he is standing in front of me.We stay like this for a little while, just the four of us as if the rest of the world doesn't exist. "Josy, there is someone I want you to meet." I hear Argos say from behind Mano, and Ivan lunges himself at him as he yells, "Uncle Argos, you're home." Argos catches him, and the female next to him is smiling as Ivan hugs him tightly.
