Reborn as the Baby Sister Everyone Spoiled—and the One He Loved
Although Leon directed his question at Elaine, Alora drew a sharp breath in response. She had a vague feeling of impending trouble. Her heart fluttered a little. Yet, why should she feel guilty? Elaine was the one who had made Grandma faint, not her. I'm curious to see just how far Dad will go in favoring Elaine. Elaine smirked at Alora. Clinging to Leon's arm, she said, "Dad, do you really want to know why Grandma fainted?" Leon nodded. With a look of feigned understanding on her face, Alora said, "Elaine, say no more. We understand you didn't do it intentionally, and we aren't blaming you. Please don't feel guilty about it." Elaine laughed mockingly and remarked, "You're the one who caused all this, and you're acting like it's nothing. So why should I feel guilty?" Alora was speechless at her reply. I'm the cause of all this? When did I become the culprit? That wicked Elaine actually dares to shift the blame onto me! Leon immediately fixed his piercing gaze on Alora. Alora quickly waved her hands and explained, "Dad, it wasn't me. I didn't upset Grandma. Mom was there, so you can check with her. It really isn't my fault." With a stern expression, Leon said to Elaine, "Elaine, please explain this." His tone was not harsh. As someone in a position of power, Leon had always exuded a commanding aura without needing to show his anger. Despite his usual authoritative demeanor, he couldn't bring himself to be harsh with his beloved daughter. Elaine guided Leon by the arm and led him to sit on the sofa. Alora trailed behind and took a seat across from them, her fingers instinctively clasped together. "Dad, after you left this morning, Alora came to me and begged me to let her have Terry," Elaine explained. Leon's eyes were stern as he looked at Alora and inquired, "Is this true?" Alora bit her lip, looking distressed, but she dared not refute the claim. She knew Elaine had a recording and didn't want to be embarrassed again for telling lies.Leon exclaimed angrily, "Alora, you've taken Elaine's place and spent twenty years living as the Curran family's beloved daughter, enjoying a life of luxury that everyone envies. Yet, you still want to steal Elaine's fiancé?" "Dad, I ... " Alora was terrified to tears by his visible anger. Leon had previously indulged her so much that it seemed he wanted to give her everything wonderful in the world. He had never shown anger or spoken harshly to her. Yet now, he looked at her with an expression full of rage, as if she were his enemy. Alora was truly terrified by his demeanor. Her tears flowed uncontrollably down her face, making her look even more pitiful and distressed. Usually, Leon would be heartbroken seeing Alora like this. Yet, all he felt now was disdain for her. You are the one who wants to steal Elaine's fiancé, and now you have the audacity to play the victim? "Dad." Elaine tugged on Leon's sleeve. "Dad, let me finish what I have to say first." "Alright, Elaine, go ahead," Leon responded softly. Alora watched their interactions and felt utterly speechless. Her heart ached after seeing the stark contrast in Leon's attitude toward her and Elaine. After all, he had been her dad for the past twenty years. He was her dad who used to be the most doting person in the world!"Alora told me that if I was willing to let her have Terry, she would give me anything I wanted. So I asked her to return the room you and Mom had prepared for me. In exchange, I would end my engagement with Terry." "Elaine?" Leon appeared completely stunned by her words. Elaine shook her head and continued, "Alora agreed, but then she went back on her word. Grandma forbade her from giving the room back to me. Alora intentionally misled Grandma to challenge me to a bet. If Grandma lost, she'd have to apologize to me. I then played the recording of my conversation with Alora in front of Grandma. Grandma couldn't stand the thought of apologizing to me, so she fainted from the stress." This is ridiculous! Leon hit the sofa with a resounding slap. He turned to look at Alora, his cold gaze slicing through her with ruthless intensity.
