Reborn as the Baby Sister Everyone Spoiled—and the One He Loved
Rebecca said indulgently, "Alright, I'll discuss it with your father." Although Rebecca felt regretful about passing up on an outstanding young man as Terry, she felt it was important for Elaine to choose a partner she truly liked. "Thanks, Mom," Elaine responded with a grin. Get lost, you worthless man! Stay out of my sight forever! ... Meanwhile, another scene was unfolding in the living room downstairs. Having heard that Maya had fainted, Leon quickly ended his social event and hurried home. Upon entering the living room, he saw the slender Alora sitting on the sofa alone.Alora had her head hanging low and looked very distressed. However, Leon's mind was preoccupied with Maya's safety, leaving him no room to worry about Alora. "Alora, how is your Grandma doing? Is Jay back yet?" Alora heard Leon coming in and swiftly stood up to greet him, "Dad, you are back." Her eyes were slightly reddened, indicating she might have been crying. "How is your Grandma doing?" Leon asked the question again while striding toward Maya's room on the ground floor. Maya's room had been placed on the ground floor because of her advanced age. Alora hurried to catch up with him, saying, "Dad, don't be angry. Elaine didn't mean to upset Grandma. Please don't hold it against her. She's just returned to the Curran family and doesn't quite understand the rules yet ... She ... " "You're saying it was Elaine who caused Grandma to faint?" Leon stopped in his tracks and interrupted Alora's words with a frown. The servant who called him had only reported that Maya had fainted without mentioning the details. Leon was taken aback by what Alora was saying. What actually happened? Alora quickly waved her hands and said anxiously, "Dad, Elaine didn't do it on purpose. Please don't be mad, and don't punish her." Leon's frown deepened, "When did I say I was going to punish Elaine?" He knew Elaine wasn't an unreasonable girl. If she had indeed caused Maya to faint, there must have been a reason behind it. He wouldn't punish his precious daughter without understanding the full story first. Alora was left speechless by his reply. You are not going to punish her? Elaine is acting so disrespectfully. It's bad enough that Mom defends her, but now you do too, Dad? What makes Elaine deserving of such indulgence from both of you? Alora's hands were balled into fists as she fumed in silence. Once Rebecca finished her chat with Elaine, she returned to her bedroom. Elaine enjoyed the honey citrus tea Rebecca made for her. Still, she hadn't had much of it because she had been busy dealing with Alora and Maya just now. She decided to go downstairs to get the tea so that she could enjoy it in her room.As she went down, she saw Alora complaining to Leon. Elaine gave Alora a frosty stare. "Dad, you're home," Elaine greeted Leon sweetly, her lips curling into a gentle smile. "Elaine." Leon, who had been anxious, couldn't help but break into a fond smile when he saw Elaine. "Elaine, you're still up at this hour? You're a girl, and staying up late isn't good for your skin. You need your beauty sleep, so you need to go to bed earlier, understand?" Elaine walked over and affectionately hugged his arm. "I know, Dad. I'm going to bed right away." "Such a good girl," Leon said as he lovingly ruffled her hair. "Dad ... " The sight of Leon and Elaine being so intimately close bothered Alora intensely. I'm still awake at this hour, too, Dad. Why didn't you tell me to go to bed earlier as well? Leon had always been so caring and loving toward her. Yet, as soon as Elaine returned, he had completely neglected her. Alora's jealousy flared, making her want to rip Elaine to shreds. After thoroughly enjoying the affectionate hug with Elaine, Leon's attention shifted back to Maya. He then asked Elaine in a soft tone, "Elaine, I heard your grandmother fainted just now. What happened?"
