Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone

Chapter 58 She's the One Who Suffered Most

"Seraphina, if you have a problem, take it out on me. I'll even give you my life if that's what you want. Just please, don't hurt the people around me." It was her usual tactic—deflecting and changing the subject. She always thought she was clever because Seraphina never bothered to call her out. Pfft! Before Seraphina could respond, Shane, who was leaning back with one hand propped under his cheek, looked at Linara with a mocking smile. "Hey, you stab someone, say a few sweet words, and expect unconditional forgiveness? Why should you get off so easily?" The students, who Linara's teary words had just swayed, snapped out of it. Yeah, Shane's words might have been blunt, but he was spot on. Why should she get a free pass for hurting people just because she threw a pity party?Seraphina shot Shane a brief glance, then played along. "Because she's a goddess, that's why. A divine face comes with special privileges." Pfft—hahaha! The students couldn't hold it in any longer and burst out laughing. Linara's hurt expression froze, a mix of shame and anger flashing across her face. These two had practically teamed up to humiliate her. Kelly and her group heard that Linara had come over to apologize to Seraphina for Kelly's sake, so they rushed over, only to see the whole of Class F laughing at Linara. They were furious. "What are you laughing at?" Abigail and her friends shoved the surrounding students aside and stormed over, positioning themselves protectively in front of Linara. "Seraphina, don't you think you're going too far? Ever since you joined the Whitewood Family, you've been bullying her. You took her parents, you took everything from her—aren't you satisfied yet, or are you just waiting to choke on it?" Abigail fumed, glaring at Seraphina. "You've been targeting Linara at every turn. You've even hurt her at home. And when you get to school, you don't even bother to hide it. What kind of heartless person are you? Of course, you'd act like this—you come from the gutter, with no class whatsoever." The surrounding students looked at Linara's tear-streaked face, her pitiful expression tugging at their sympathies. A few of the boys looked at Seraphina with disapproval. Despite it all, Seraphina's gaze remained calm and steady as she looked at Abigail and her friends. "Done with your speech? Great. Now it's my turn. First of all, her parents were mine, to begin with, and everything she had was rightfully mine. She enjoyed 16 years of my life—am I supposed to thank her for it? "I'm reclaiming what's mine, and you think I owe her an apology? The one who should apologize is her, don't you think? She stole my identity and lived in wealth and comfort for 16 years that weren't hers. Shouldn't she be the one to say sorry?" These were words she'd longed to say for years. But even until the day she died, she hadn't been able to voice them. The hallway was now packed with students eager to watch the drama unfold, listening in shock as Seraphina's words sank in. They realized, almost all at once, how foolish it had been to pity Linara. After all, the one who'd truly suffered the most wasn't Linara—it was Seraphina.
