Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
Molly flicked her gaze over Seraphina, sizing her up. She was undeniably striking, but her outfit told a different story—plain and bordering on shabby. She looked more like someone struggling to get by than the daughter of a wealthy family. Seeing Molly and her friends' astonished looks, Yvonne adjusted her posture and plastered on a smile. "Seraphina, give me your card. Today's on me—order whatever you want!" Order whatever I want? That's amusing. She offers to "treat" me using my own card? Her lack of shame is almost impressive. Why didn't I notice this before? Seraphina thought. She didn't even blink. Her voice remained steady yet distant. "We're not close." Ignoring Yvonne, she turned to Molly and the others. "Move. You're in the way." Something about her cool tone or maybe the commanding air around her made them hesitate. Without a word, they stepped aside.Seraphina walked straight to the staircase leading to the second floor, leaving Yvonne frozen in place. "Seraphina!" Yvonne called after her, scrambling to follow. She thought, What should I do if she's gone? Before she could ascend, a waiter stopped her. "I'm sorry, but the second floor is reserved for VIP guests. Your card doesn't grant access." Desperate, Yvonne pointed upstairs. The girl who just went up is my friend; we arrived together." The waiter looked up, offered a polite yet firm smile, and replied, "Please ask your friend to bring you up." Behind her, Molly and her friends couldn't hold back their laughter. One of them sneered, "So much for being besties. Turns out you're not even on good terms." "Trying to tag along with someone out of her league—how embarrassing," another added with a mocking smirk. "If I'm the daughter of the Whitewood Family, I won't waste my time on someone like her either," someone else chimed in. Another scoffed, "She still thinks she can be friends with us? How pathetic." Yvonne's cheeks turned crimson as she fought to remain steady, her voice shaking. "You don't get it. Seraphina and I grew up together! We've always been close. I don't know why she's acting like this now. Just last month, she treated me like a sister." Tears welled in her eyes as she tried to play the victim, but her words only fueled the rumors spreading among the students. The thought, So that's what happened. Seraphina ditched her old friends the moment she moved up in the world. The tension broke as Shane and his crew strolled into the cafeteria. Molly and her friends swiftly stepped back, their smug expressions vanishing. Yvonne, still teary-eyed, turned to look. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw Shane walking toward her. He's coming this way! Is he here to help me? she wondered, her face lighting up with hope. Her gaze followed him intently, a faint blush creeping across her cheeks and ears. Yet, Shane's face bore a chill, and a trace of contempt flashed in his gaze. As he strode by, he demanded, "Move." Yvonne froze, her wide-eyed gaze locking onto his emotionless face. Standing behind Shane, Cedric raised an eyebrow and called out to Yvonne, "Hey, didn't you hear him? Just move; you're in the way." Watching her hesitation, he thought, Shane won't hold back if you don't step aside soon. Realizing her mistake, Yvonne quickly moved aside, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. Shane walked past her without sparing her a single glance. The humiliation was unbearable. She felt the weight of everyone's stares, each one a silent jab at her foolish assumptions. Overwhelmed with emotion, she turned and dashed away, her hands shielding her face as she fled the scene. "Tough luck. Picking the wrong friend, huh?" Kelly sneered, her eyes flicking toward Seraphina, who had just reached the second floor.
