Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
"I've got a card," Seraphina replied calmly, pulling out a sleek, understated card from her cardholder. Yvonne's face lit up, relief washing over her like she'd just been rescued. Yet, one girl wasn't about to let things slide without throwing in a dig. She mocked, "Hope you've got enough on there. Wouldn't want you to end up like Yvonne—coming up short." Another girl interjected, "This place isn't cheap, you know. Sure you can cover the cost?" On the second floor of the cafeteria, close to a big window that looked out over the first floor, Kelly leaned in with enthusiasm. Her eyes lit up with enthusiasm as she pointed to the below-mentioned activity. She exclaimed to her friends, "Hey, check this out. Looks like things are heating up!" A cluster of students congregated at their table, diverting their focus to the noise on the first floor. At the heart of it all stood Seraphina, seemingly unfazed by the throng surrounding her. "Who's the girl in the yellow dress?" Caleb Lloyd asked, his eyes fixed on her. Carmen's eyes flicked to Caleb, her brows knitting together when she noticed the interest in his expression. "Wait—don't tell me you're into her," Abigail teased. Kelly snickered. "Seriously, Caleb? Her? Your standards must've hit rock bottom." With his trademark cheerful demeanor, Zack Lynn shrugged. "She's pretty. Honestly, I'd say she's just as stunning as Rainie." Carmen, who had been silent, abruptly interjected, "Do you know who she is? That's Linara's sister—the one accused of stealing and hitting her. Zack, didn't you say you wanted to avenge Linara? So why are you now praising that girl?" The group exchanged glances, their surprise evident. "That's Linara's sister?" Caleb asked, his tone thoughtful. "She looks nice, but I was surprised by the trouble she caused," someone else muttered. Another student snorted. "Looks like she's in for it now." Dora Barnes grinned, leaning back in her chair. "That's Molly Gosling's thing—picking on people who don't know any better. Her friend must've fallen into the trap. This'll be fun to watch." Shane and his group strolled into the cafeteria, drawing attention to the group. Cedric Hale, one of Shane's crew, nudged Shane. "Looks like your desk mate's in some trouble." Another guy smirked. "Bet they didn't realize how pricey this place is. They're about to learn the hard way." One remarked, "It's the same yearly—new students always fall for Molly's little games. Doesn't she get tired of it? She's been doing this since junior high. Honestly, I'm bored of watching the same thing repeatedly."Cedric grinned. "That girl's got attitude, but Molly will bring her down a notch." They watched with mild amusement as Molly and her friends continued to taunt. "Molly, I swear, Seraphina's loaded," Yvonne spoke nervously. Molly rolled her eyes. "Yeah, sure. Probably ten bucks loaded," she shot back, earning a round of laughter from her crew. "She's the daughter of the Whitewood Family," Yvonne blurted out, desperation creeping into her voice. "And she's Shane's girlfriend," Molly's friend mocked, setting off another wave of laughter. Just then, someone nudged her, motioning toward the entrance. The girl turned her head, and her face paled instantly. She wondered, When did Shane arrive? A courageous bystander shattered the silence. "Molly, that's correct. She's the daughter of the Whitewood Family—the real one."The room grew quiet as the impact of those words registered. Molly and her friends shared anxious looks, suddenly understanding—this was the true daughter the Whitewood Family had returned with. Whenever the Whitewood Family's daughter was mentioned, everyone naturally thought of Linara. It rarely occurred to anyone that they might be referring to Seraphina, who was a recent addition to the family.
