Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone

Chapter 44 The Arrival

Ryder walked off smugly, disregarding everyone like they weren't worth his time. Once he was gone, Seraphina turned to Annika Goddard, the strict and no-nonsense discipline teacher. Speaking calmly but assertively, she advised, "Ms. Goddard, students displaying such behavior damage the school's name. They need proper discipline for both their benefit and the school's well-being. Turning a blind eye only enables more harm." Annika raised an eyebrow, a chuckle escaping her lips. Throughout her teaching career, this was the first instance of a student giving her a lecture. "You've got guts," Annika replied with a faint smirk before turning on her heel and walking away. Adam stood nearby, pinching the bridge of his nose as he thought, She appears gentle outwardly, but beneath that facade, she's as unyielding as steel. "Let's not have this nonsense again," Adam cautioned. "Sure," Seraphina replied, her voice light and agreeable. Adam gave her a long look, sighed, and walked off. After thirty minutes, Seraphina came back to her seat. Her classmates shot her a mix of curious and knowing looks. No one seemed surprised she'd come back without a scratch. The bell rang, and the math teacher, Brinley Ostell, entered. Her heels clicked against the floor as she strode into the room, commanding attention. "Quiet," she demanded sharply. Her gaze swept across the classroom, pausing when it landed on the last row near the window. Recognition flashed in her eyes, followed by faint surprise. Brinley thought, Ah, the transfer student. The one who managed to stand up to Ms.Goddard. She's a looker, but clearly, there's more to her than meets the eye. Seraphina opened her textbook. The material felt vaguely familiar, like something she'd once mastered but now needed to rediscover. Her thoughts drifted back to her past life. Back then, she worked relentlessly to win her parents' approval. She poured her energy into her studies, believing top grades would earn their pride and affection. She succeeded. She ranked first in her class and third in her entire grade in the first monthly exam. With enthusiasm and anticipation, she showed her report card to Chloe, hoping for a commendation or a smile. Instead, Chloe had furiously tossed the report card aside, her harsh words still echoing in Seraphina's mind. She could still see Aidan's sneer as he ripped the card to shreds, as if her hard work meant nothing. No one cared about her accomplishments or listened to her attempts to explain the misunderstanding. Instead, they coddled Linara, who had failed miserably. Her accomplishments weren't celebrated. Her family only cheered when Linara scraped by with mediocre results. Eventually, her mom suggested she "tone it down" and stop excelling, claiming the family didn't require it. Seraphina intentionally began leaving half the questions unanswered and failing tests to satisfy them, striving only for minimum passing scores. Thinking back, a faint smirk crossed her face. Her lips curled in a self-mocking smile as she vowed silently, Not this time. In this life, I won't hold myself back for anyone. I'll live as my true self. I deserve everything I've worked for—I'm not worthless. Turning her focus to the lesson, she listened intently and let the buried knowledge resurface. Suddenly, the roar of motorcycles shattered the calm of the classroom. The sound grew louder, reverberating through the building. The students craned their necks toward the windows, curious about the disturbance. Outside, a line of sleek black bikes sped across the campus, their engines growling. The pack's leader abruptly and precisely stopped in front of the building. The others followed, parking in perfect formation behind him. The lead rider pulled off his helmet, giving his head a slight shake. His short, dark hair fell perfectly into place, with a few strands clinging to his sharp, chiseled features. A sapphire earring in his left ear glinted in the sunlight, enhancing his already bold look with an air of rebellion. His self-assured attitude and angular features made a striking impression that was hard to overlook. "Oh my god! It's him!” someone blurted out, breaking the stunned silence.
