Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone
Jack looked at the person getting off the motorcycle with surprise. "Miss Seraphina, why are you riding this? It's too dangerous." Seraphina had no time for small talk. She gave him a slight nod before hurrying inside. Her mind was consumed with one thought—she had to uncover the truth. She needed to know if she was really their daughter. In the living room, Chloe was leisurely arranging flowers to the accompaniment of soft, soothing music, creating a tranquil and elegant atmosphere. Seraphina's abrupt entry shattered the serene scene. Chloe frowned slightly, placing the daisy in her hand into the vase before looking up. "Seraphina, barging in like this is improper. It might be tolerated at home, but don't act like this outside, or people will mock you." Seraphina approached her and replied softly, "Understood." Chloe was taken aback, clearly not expecting Seraphina to be so agreeable today. "Mom, teach me how to arrange flowers," Seraphina said as she stepped closer, picking up a thorny rose. Chloe was even more surprised. From the moment Seraphina entered our home, she's always kept her distance from everyone, radiating an undeniable air of coldness and detachment. This sudden display of warmth takes me completely by surprise. "Sure," Chloe said with a smile. "Come, let me teach you. Flower arranging is an art that can cultivate your temperament. It's perfect for smoothing out that impulsive personality of yours." Jasmine walked in with a fruit tray and, seeing the Mom and daughter chatting and laughing, felt a sense of relief and happiness. "In a few days, there's a charity event. I was planning to go with Evelyn to donate blood and contribute to a good cause. Mom, my blood type is O, right?" Seraphina asked casually. Chloe's heart skipped a beat. She quickly dismissed the idea. "I think so, but donating blood isn't necessary. I know you have a kind heart, but there are other ways to contribute. Let me tell you, people often say donating blood is good for your health, but it's not true. I've even seen cases on TV where people contracted diseases like AIDS from donating blood. It's too risky. Let's not do that." Seraphina chuckled lightly. "That was years ago. Things have changed. Blood donation is now highly regulated and safe. There's nothing to worry about." "No, absolutely not. What if something does happen? How would we deal with it? It wasn't easy getting you back. I can't bear the thought of anything happening to you. Be a good girl, Seraphina, and listen to me," Chloe said, firmly opposing the idea. "Alright, I'll listen to you," Seraphina agreed, then suddenly asked, "By the way, what's your blood type, Mom?" Chloe, relieved that Seraphina had dropped the matter, replied casually, "I'm type B.""Oh, then I must take after Dad," Seraphina said with a smile. Chloe nodded. "That's right." Not wanting to dwell on the topic, she changed the subject. "Your father plans for you to marry as soon as you turn twenty, but I find it hard to let you go. If you truly like Jason, I won't object." "Do you dislike me being with Jason?" Seraphina asked, feigning confusion. Chloe seized the opportunity to share her thoughts. "Jason is excellent, but his family is too powerful, with a web of complex relationships. I don't want you to be overwhelmed. I only wish for my daughter to live happily. I'm also worried about your future. If you ever face difficulties or conflicts, we might not be able to help." Her seemingly heartfelt concern, full of plans for Seraphina's future, didn't move Seraphina. Instead, it made her feel cold inside.
