Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone

Chapter 195 Your Eyes Are Beautiful

Their gazes locked, each of them sizing the other up. George walked toward her. He reached the door, and with a swift motion, he opened it. His sharp eyes instantly fixed on Seraphina's face. As he passed by her, a faint scent of mint wafted through the air. It wasn't perfume, just a natural fragrance, but it was undeniably pleasant. The person who had just moved a few steps ahead of her stopped, turned around, and looked into her eyes. "Your eyes are beautiful," he said. Seraphina blinked in surprise. "If you're looking for that disheveled couple, you might as well give up. They've already left the banquet. The man is no good," he said. His gaze lingered on her, and as he studied her features, a fleeting thought crossed his mind. There was something about her—her eyes, in particular—that reminded him of his younger sister, whom he had lost long ago. He couldn't shake the feeling that someone with such beautiful eyes shouldn't be entangled with the likes of that man. Seraphina asked, "How did you know I was looking for them?" "Well, apart from us few on the second floor, they were the only ones still around. I heard your footsteps as you made your way toward the third room. You paused at each door for a few seconds, and that gave me a hint that you were searching for someone. Just five minutes ago, a disheveled couple left. Putting everything together, it wasn't hard to guess." A few seconds later, a round of applause broke out. "Such sharp ears! Genius indeed," Seraphina said. He had already heard her from a distance away. He really had unusually sharp ears. "You're wasting your talents as a doctor," she blurted out without thinking. "You should be in the military. You'd make an incredible warrior."Her words caught him off guard, and George couldn't help but pause for a moment. That sounded familiar. It reminded him of something his father had said to him a decade ago. "Do you have family?" George asked, his words slipping out before he could stop them. He was surprised at himself, then he smirked. Perhaps it was just that he had recently visited his mother, and for some reason, he found himself looking at everyone as though they might be family. "Of course," Seraphina replied with a smile. However, she didn't really need this family. George turned away, his long legs carrying him a step forward before he paused again, his gaze turning back to her. His eyes held a kind of quiet intensity as he said, "Your eyes... they're really beautiful." "Thank you," Seraphina responded. Being complimented twice by the same person in one day was enough to make her feel a little flustered. If she hadn't been able to see the clear and composed look in his eyes, she might have wondered if there was something more to his words—perhaps an ulterior motive. But for now, she just accepted the compliment gracefully. As he turned to leave, Seraphina couldn't help but smile to herself. There was something undeniably intriguing about him. He wasn't the type of genius doctor she had imagined. She had expected someone more bookish, scholarly—someone with an academic air about him. Instead, he was a restrained, handsome man with an aura of mystery, especially with those gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose. Meanwhile, as Jeffrey stepped out of the room, he noticed the man walking toward him, and his eyes widened in pleasant surprise. "Dr. Foster, you're here," he exclaimed, his excitement evident as he approached the man. "Where is Old Mr. Lowell?" George asked. Jeffrey led him inside, opening the door. "My dad's in there," he said, gesturing toward the room. The moment they entered, the people inside looked up, their expressions varying from confusion to surprise. Barrett, who had maintained a stern expression throughout the evening, was now smiling warmly. "Dr. Foster, long time no see," he greeted him. The younger generation in the room stared at George with wide eyes, clearly taken aback. One by one, they scrutinized him closely, trying to piece together the man in front of them. Many of them found themselves struck by the realization that the man who resembled a celebrity was actually the genius doctor they had all heard about. It was a bit hard to believe.
