Seraphina Is Back—and She’s Not Alone

Chapter 186 First Name

"Heh." As the conversation unfolded, the low hum of an engine grew louder, announcing the approach of a sleek Porsche. The car came to a smooth halt at the entrance. As soon as Seraphina stepped out, Evelyn's eyes lit up with excitement. Without hesitation, she began waving energetically. "Seraphina! Over here!" she called out. Seraphina turned her head at the sound, her gaze landing on Evelyn. She smiled at her and made her way toward the entrance. Meanwhile, Oberon, who had spotted Jason standing nearby, quickened his stride. Accompanied by his wife and children, he approached Jason with a broad grin. "Mr. Drakon, it's been so long," Oberon greeted warmly. Jason returned the greeting with a composed smile. "Mr. Whitewood, you're looking as spirited as ever."Oberon chuckled, clearly pleased by the remark. With a subtle tug, he pulled Aidan forward. "Mr. Drakon, I believe you didn't have the chance to meet him last time. This is my son, Aidan. Aidan, come on now, greet Mr. Drakon." Aidan stepped up, his eyes wide with admiration as he looked at Jason. "Mr. Drakon, nice to meet you. I've heard so much about you. You're incredible, and, honestly, my idol." Linara, not wanting to be left out, added sweetly, "Hi, Jason." A faint crease appeared between Jason's brows. Before he could respond, Evelyn let out a derisive snort. "Who gave you the right to call him that? Why are you looking at him like that?" Evelyn asked. Her mocking tone made the atmosphere immediately tense. Linara's face flushed with embarrassment. Oberon, noticing Jason's displeasure and the frown deepening on his face, quickly stepped in. He shot Linara a sharp glare before forcing a hearty laugh. "Ah, Mr. Drakon, please don't mind her. Kids these days—so impulsive, always speaking without thinking! In her eyes, you're like an older brother, young and full of promise." Evelyn rolled her eyes. She wanted to retort, but after glancing at Seraphina, she managed to restrain himself. After all, she was Oberon's daughter, and Evelyn didn't want to upset her. Jason, for his part, remained composed. His attention shifted to Seraphina. She had been unusually quiet. Meeting Jason's gaze, Seraphina offered a soft smile, her tone respectful yet firm. "Mr. Drakon," she greeted. Jason froze. The faint smile that had begun to form on his lips disappeared as quickly as it had come. After a brief pause, he said sternly, "You can call me by my surname." Oberon and Linara immediately perked up, their faces lighting with excitement. Oberon, sensing an opportunity, urged his daughter. "Seraphina, go on."Linara's heart raced with a sudden surge of hope. If Seraphina could call him by his first name, so could she. This would bring her closer to Jason—a possibility she had yearned for. Seraphina's eyes flickered between her eager father and Jason. Her voice was calm as she said, "Evelyn and I are close friends. Calling you Jason wouldn't be appropriate. 'Mr. Drakon' suits you better." Evelyn nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly! That's exactly right!" Her relief was obvious. If Seraphina started addressing him by his first name, it would disrupt their dynamic. Jason smiled at Evelyn meaningfully as he said, "You've made an excellent point." Evelyn's sense of triumph was short-lived. The subtle shift in Jason's expression sent a chill down her spine. She suddenly chickened out. "On second thought," Evelyn said, "it would make more sense for you to call him by his first name, Seraphina. After all, we're much closer in age. 'Mr. Drakon' sounds so… old." Evelyn seemed pitiful as she tried to save herself. Seraphina glanced at Evelyn, taking in her desperate expression, before shifting her gaze back to Jason. He stood tall and composed. Clearing her throat, Seraphina spoke softly, her tone sweet yet deliberate. "Jason." The shift in the atmosphere was instantaneous. The tension dissipated, replaced by a strange sense of calm. Evelyn glanced at Jason, thinking, Just wait. I'll make things difficult for you one day. Standing to the side, Linara watched the exchange, her jealousy bubbling over. Why? What does she have that I don't? Why does he treat her so well? Linara thought.
