The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
Thora's POV: I carefully reviewed all the information Luke had sent. I repeatedly watched the scene records from when my mother was "attacked." Everyone said she died from being suddenly attacked by Rogues werewolves while out, but looking at the scene evidence, those Rogues' claw marks were concentrated on Diane's defensive blind spots. The bite force of their fangs precisely avoided fatal areas yet still caused death by blood loss, and even the protective dagger Diane carried with her hadn't been drawn from its sheath ... All the signs pointed to premeditated murder set up in advance, not an accident at all. But with such obvious flaws, why hadn't my grandfather and my maternal grandfather noticed?Unless someone had tampered with the scene records or key evidence had been hidden. But my maternal grandfather and my grandfather were both pivotal figures in the Astralis Empire. My grandfather was the Silverleaf Pack Alpha and a retired Astralis Empire general. My maternal grandfather was a human leader whom the Astralis Empire had specially designated as "Inter-Pack Peace Envoy." Together they could mobilize more than half the Astralis Empire's resources. Anyone who could hide evidence right under their noses definitely had serious skills. When I talked with my grandfather last time, he only said he "suspected the cause of Diane's death" but didn't mention specific evidence. He probably hadn't found solid proof either. I frowned in thought, feeling that my mother Diane's death still held deeper secrets. I went through Diane's biographical information again, but aside from her experiences following my maternal grandfather into the werewolf world and meeting and falling in love with Norman, there wasn't anything particularly special. "Beep beep ... " The notification sound from my messaging app went off. I opened it to find a message from Luke. "So, today while I was hacking into the Werewolf Community Security Bureau System, I accidentally took a wrong turn and intercepted a message from the Astralis Empire Defense Department. There's something pretty interesting. Want to hear about it?" Took a wrong turn? Given his habit of treating other people's security systems like his personal playground, he clearly did it on purpose. Before I could reply, his next message popped up. "The world's most notorious 'Greywolf' mercenary group has entered the country. Their current location should be in Starlance City." Seeing this message, my expression darkened. Immediately after, Luke sent over files on the mercenary group's core members. I scanned the front page, and my gaze instantly froze. The person in the photo on the front page was the ability user I'd fought at the fighting arena earlier that day! As if guessing I was interested in him, Luke added another top-secret file. "Lance Wright. Born in the slums of the Morvanian Empire, mixed blood. Calm and rational personality, unfathomable strength. As a Rogue who operates outside all packs, he conquered numerous followers through sheer combat ability and formed the Greywolf mercenary group. Unlike the hierarchical obedience packs show their Alphas, his team is absolutely loyal purely out of respect for his power. Because of this, he holds absolute control over the entire pack and is the group's core and soul. He personally plans all major operations. "He possesses strange and mysterious powers. Military departments and officials from various countries have attempted to capture him multiple times, but he's escaped every time. To this day, there are no effective arrest records ... " The strange mysterious power mentioned in the file was naturally his ability. It seemed that while this timeline had ability users, there weren't many. Even the werewolves in Chaules hadn't incorporated this type of power into their known systems ... I raised an eyebrow with interest. I hadn't expected the person I'd randomly followed to be such a character.... Third-person POV: An abandoned old factory was covered in patches of decay, with green vines winding up along the base of the walls. Inside the factory building, people either sat on the stairs, lay on the rafters, or leaned against pillars. Each person emanated a lethal aura, as if they'd walked out of mountains of corpses countless times with blood on their hands. But when their eyes looked toward the handsome mixed-blood man sitting at the top of the stairs, their gazes were filled with respect. "Boss, the guys have already scoped out the place. But that location isn't easy to get into at night. The security system is extremely discreet and very comprehensive." Sharkie had a heavy machine gun slung over his shoulder and spoke in a rough voice. Lance looked at the map spread out before him, toying with a handgun in one hand. "Who said we're going in at night? Don't forget, our mission isn't to destroy an empty shell." He stared at the words "Astralis College" written at the top of the map, his lips curving into a smile full of anticipation and excitement. "This carnival should be quite delightful ... " Lance closed his eyes, like a poet, a performer, or even more like a bishop in a cathedral bathing in divine light, perfectly merging sin and beauty together. Alissa and Sharkie exchanged glances, both seeing eager excitement in each other's eyes. The other people in the factory also had bloodthirsty fervor in their eyes, anticipating the dawn of a new day.
