The Apocalypse Wolf Queen

Chapter 371 Door Slammed Twice

Standing at the door was a handsome young man dressed in a blue-black military uniform. In his arms was a bundle of bedding—more precisely, a set of bed linens. "Excuse me, are you Thora?" The uniformed man looked at Thora with a warm smile, though his gaze casually drifted past her to peek inside. When he saw the state of the interior, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. Noticing his prying, Thora's expression immediately turned cold. "Can I help you?" She was long used to people mistaking her gender. Mike grinned and said, "Out of the kindness of my heart as your senior, I came to bring you some warmth. Here you go." As he spoke, he held out the bundle of bedding toward Thora.Internally, he thought to himself—this underclassman looks even better up close. No wonder Roxen's so interested. Could he actually have a thing for him? Thora didn't refuse. She happened to need these things anyway, so she took them directly. "Thanks." Before Mike could even react, Thora had already closed the door. Caught completely off guard, Mike found himself staring at a door slammed in his face. Suddenly, the door opened again. "What's your name?" Thora figured she should at least ask the name of this stranger who'd shown up to deliver supplies. Mike was annoyed. He rubbed the dust that had gotten on his nose. "You're only now thinking to ask the name of this kind soul?" His handsome face scrunched up with displeasure.Thora stared at him, her serious face tense as she uttered two words that nearly made Mike choke. "I forgot." Mike fell silent. After a moment, he recovered. He leaned one hand against the doorframe, striking what he clearly thought was a suave and elegant pose, and flashed Thora a charming smile. "Remember it well. I'm your dashingly handsome senior, Mike." But Thora clearly had no interest in his self-flattering adjectives. She simply repeated his name. "Mike." "Mm-hmm," Mike said, raising his tone playfully. Thora gave a brief sound of acknowledgment, stepped back, and closed the door again. Mike reacted just in time to avoid getting dust on his nose a second time. "This..." The corner of his mouth twitched. Why didn't this underclassman play by the rules? He rubbed his chin. Was he not handsome enough? Or was his reputation as one of the top fighters on the academy's overall rankings not impressive enough? He hadn't even finished what he came to say. He wasn't actually the one who'd sent the bedding. Whatever. Considering the kid was a freshman, he'd let it slide. Mike sighed in defeat, hands clasped behind his head. This kid's personality was definitely going to get her into big trouble at the academy, wasn't it? But ... the corner of his mouth quirked up with a hint of smugness. He'd always loved watching a good show, especially when it involved someone Roxen cared about. After Mike left, Thora used the delivered bedding to set up her place again, finally getting her living quarters in order. Before long, Shirley, Tristan, Luke, and Ryan also found their way over. When they saw the stark contrast between Thora's accommodations and their luxury apartments, their expressions all changed. "Boss, this is obviously a setup." Tristan was furious. "Hmph, how dare they mess with Thora! I'm going to give that housing manager a piece of my mind right now!" Shirley's face darkened as she headed for the door, only to be grabbed by Thora. Ryan also found it hard to believe. "How could they assign you somewhere this far out and this run-down? Do you have beef with whoever handles room assignments?" Compared to them, Thora was much calmer. "I actually think this place is pretty nice. It's spacious, and the area's quiet. Once I renovate it a bit, it'll basically be a private villa." The corner of Ryan's mouth twitched as he looked around—even though Thora had a point, the conditions here were still terrible. Mainly, he just felt it was unfair. Why should Thora be stuck in a place like this? And it wasn't just Ryan who felt that way. The freshmen who learned about it were all outraged on Thora's behalf. In their eyes, Thora was the most admirable person among all the freshmen. For her to be treated so unfairly was simply intolerable. Spurred on by Shirley, the freshmen marched over to Konner to demand an explanation, only to be shut down with a single line. "She came in last place. Living in the worst accommodations is only natural!" Every single freshman was furious, but because Valen had ordered that anything related to the third round of assessments was classified—and that anyone who leaked information would be disciplined according to academy rules—they couldn't publicly explain Thora's contributions. All they could do was swallow their anger. But that very night, someone caught Konner at a corner and threw a sack over his head. After a flurry of punches and kicks, the assailants quickly fled the scene.
