The Apocalypse Wolf Queen
Thora's POV: He didn't take my threat seriously at all. Instead, he just lounged back and tucked his hands behind his head. "Girls shouldn't go around talking about killing people all the time. That's not really a good thing." I shot him a scrutinizing glance but couldn't sense any hostility from him. That only left me more confused. What exactly is he trying to do? "Where are you taking me?" I asked. "I already told you. I'm taking you home." "Alpha, there's someone following us," the driver suddenly called out from the front seat. My fingertips paused for a split second when I heard his subordinate call him Alpha. So he really was an Alpha, but I still had no clue which pack he belonged to ... As I mulled it over, I turned around and caught sight of the license plate on the car tailing us. It was the same car Hazel had ridden in that morning. I frowned in annoyance. "Her again?" She really didn't know when to give up. Darius said calmly, "Lose them." "Yes, Alpha." Right as he finished speaking, the car picked up speed sharply. I wasn't prepared for it. Even though I tried to steady myself, the sudden force sent me crashing right into Darius, who was sitting next to me. Before I could sit up on my own, Darius helped me up and quickly pulled the seatbelt across me, buckling me in.That brief touch made me stiffen in irritation. After all those years in apocalypse combat mode, I just can't get used to being this close to a stranger. But once he had buckled me in, he sat back, perfectly composed. "Doesn't matter how skilled the driver is, you should always wear a seatbelt in a moving car." He looked so completely serious that it almost seemed like he was just giving me a safety tip ... Hazel's POV: "Ms. Hazel, we lost them," the driver said, his voice shaky. My fingers dug deep into the leather seat. "You can't even keep up with one car? Useless idiot!" That black luxury car was already nowhere to be seen. I shut my eyes, took a deep breath, and memories from this morning came crashing back— When Thora got cornered and humiliated by Caleb, that man had shown up out of nowhere. With just one look, he froze Caleb where he stood, radiating the kind of top-tier Alpha energy that even made me shiver. I'd tried to edge over and play the part of the concerned friend. I put on my softest, sweetest face, but he didn't spare me so much as a glance. His eyes were only on that tramp, Thora. And now, he had straight-up picked Thora up and carried her off in front of everyone! The longer I thought about that intimate, public display of affection, the angrier I got. Thora was just a mixed-blood who hadn't even awakened her wolf spirit. What made her so special that someone like him would give her special treatment again and again? "Ms. Hazel, that car was too fast, I ... " The driver began to explain. "Shut up!" I snapped coldly. I only forced myself to swallow my rage when I caught the look of pure fear on the driver's face. "Take me home." I ran my fingers along my phone, resentment growing inside me like a vine. As one of the pure-blood Alpha heirs of the Green family, my wolf spirit rating outclassed everyone. Even Thora was supposed to bow her head to me. But ever since she came back from that cliff, she'd embarrassed me over and over again, and now even my best skill—faking my emotions—was slipping out of control. Suddenly, my phone rang, snapping me out of it. When I saw it was Caleb calling, I instantly switched to a sweet, flirtatious tone as I picked up. "Caleb, what's up?""Hazel, want to grab dinner after school?" His voice was eager to please. I curled my lips in a sly smile, thinking of how he'd made a scene earlier at school, loudly announcing his plans to break off his engagement with Thora. My mind was already working on new schemes. "Sure. By the way, Caleb, I heard about what happened this morning. Who's that guy who stood up for Thora? I can't believe he'd dare cross you." He went silent for a moment, then lowered his voice to a near whisper. "Don't talk about him! Next time you see him, keep your distance!" "Why?" I dragged out my voice, acting soft and pitiful. "I'm just curious. Caleb, can you please tell me?" It took a lot of coaxing before he finally muttered, "He's the Alpha of Nightclaw Pack! That's the ancient clan even the royals are wary of, and he's their youngest Alpha ever ... We can't afford to mess with him." "Nightclaw Pack?" My heart skipped a beat. How could a top-ranked Alpha like him get involved with someone like Thora? My nails dug into my palm until it hurt. Only then did I calm myself enough to say sweetly, "Got it, Caleb. Oh, by the way, since you want to call off the engagement with Thora, I might have an idea ... " I let my words hang for a moment before slowly spelling out my plan. Caleb perked up right away. "Great idea! Hazel, I'll do whatever you say!" After hanging up, I gazed out at the endless stream of traffic and let a cold smile creep across my face. Thora, this time I'm not just going to make you lose your fiancé. I'll ruin you for good. Once your reputation is destroyed, let's see if that Alpha from Nightclaw Pack would even look at you again.
