When the Galaxy Wept
After a while, Robert, more serious than ever, responded. “Anything to do? Something that I have never done to you yet.” “Go to hell!” “You two idiots, Shut up!” Major Douglas, who oversaw this operation, scolded them majestically. The communication channel was quiet again. Foxy felt frustrated. Foxy and Robert happened to be on a task when the war broke out. They had outsmarted the Zergs and avoided the surprised inspection from their border guards but had run into the mercenary vanguard, which had been lurking here secretly. Without question, both had been requisitioned with their Cheetah and had been ordered to follow Major’s order, including taking place in the vanguard, the cannon fodder. Foxy felt some relief knowing that if she was going to die, at least she was going to die in honor, fighting for the Commander. She had nothing to regret. She couldn’t help but wonder how Emerald was now. Foxy kind of missed Emerald, she was probably safe since she was with the Commander. She knew that different people had different destinies. Feeling bored, Foxy looked at the stone circle that was covering almost everything. She didn’t understand why Emerald would like such an ugly space scenery. But Emerald was so familiar with this area that she would be bewildered ten times the Zerg aircraft if she were here. While she was thinking, the pilot from the spy plane suddenly said in a cold voice.” Something’s here!” Everyone was immediately focused. It was the most crucial moment, and they couldn’t make any mistake, or everything they had done during the past two days would be in vain. Something screamed sharply and passed by in front of them like a ghost! It was a Zerg aircraft, flying extremely fast in the stagnant airflow of the stone circle. Everyone got nervous. Had the Zerg found them? In an instant, three other aircraft followed the first one and jumped to the deepest place of the stone circle. Surprisingly, the first one suddenly stopped and turned around, then rushed to the other three aircraft. A fierce shooting ensued between them, with bullets smashing immediately into pieces after hitting the black stones around them. They were shooting each other! Despite the huge gap in capability, the first Zerg aircraft dodged all the bullets like swift lightning, as if God was helping them in this battle! When it hid in one of the stone circles, the other two Zerg aircraft directly crashed on the stones, exploding into smoke. The Zerg aircraft still flying kept following the first one and disappeared behind the stone circle. Foxy and her crew were holding their breaths, only able to see a big flame behind that stone. “Major, what should we do now?” Someone asked. “Let’s keep watching.” Douglas said, “Hold your breath. Maybe it’s a Zerg’s trap.” Everyone agreed. The Zerg species were the most united one. How could they fight against each other? “Robert...” Foxy said lightly through the communication channel, “Do you feel something weird?” “Yeah...” Robert answered, “It’s her old trick to confuse you at first and to let your guard down and then attack once she’s got a good position.” “Who are you talking about?” Douglas interrupted them.Foxy explained, “Sir, we are talking about a comrade, Lieutenant Wild Kitten. After it destroyed the first two planes, the first Zerg aircraft’s tactic seemed like her style. But she was in Freedom City, she couldn’t be here.” “Then why did you say this nonsense?” Douglas shouted angrily. “Go have a look. Communication officer, report to the commander center about the situation here.” “Yes, sir!” Foxy obeyed the order and started the Cheetah in minimum power and quietly flew up like a small dragonfly in the direction behind the stone where the flame had disappeared. Douglas and the others waited nervously for about two to three minutes, then Douglas checked his watch and turned his head to look at the ugly stones and the dark. He knew they were far away from Galaxy Eternity, but he still looked in that direction as if it could bring luck and confidence to the Major, who had experienced hundreds of wars.“Ahhhh!” Foxy screamed into the communication channel. Everyone straightened up their bodies. Douglas and Robert shouted at the same time. “Foxy! What happened?” Behind the black stone, Foxy’s Cheetah hid timidly under a piece of stone in a very hidden place so that she could see what was happening in the stone circle from below. However, a minute after she cropped up a little, the aircraft that was ten times bigger than her Cheetah flew directly in front of her swift like a ghost, then suddenly stopped near the Cheetah. Foxy screamed out of fear after seeing the enemy’s plane suddenly appear right in front of her. She thought she was finished since that plane was so fierce, but then again, she always felt a little awkward. She placed her hand on the trigger but couldn’t press the button. What the hell, press! The other side could find her so easily. If the plane had wanted to attack her, she would’ve been a pile of mud by now!She stopped panicking and looked through the window at the cockpit of the enemy, which was very close to her. She was stunned. Without any doubt, it was Emerald, standing there surrounded by a crowd of people, not even wearing a spacesuit or a helmet. “Major...” She licked her bottom lip, “we can cancel the alert. The pilot in the enemy plane is Lieutenant Emerald, just as we suspected. She may have captured a Zerg aircraft.” The two planes flew one after another to the stone crack where the mercenaries were hiding. However, Major Douglas, who oversaw this operation, didn’t relax like Foxy. The communication officer who was sitting in the co-pilot turned and asked. “Major, we still have half an hour, what do you think?” Douglas nodded. “The Zerg just lost three of their aircraft, they will soon send many soldiers to search this place. Report to the Commander that our task will advance right now. Also, let Emerald Wilson join our fight.” After Emerald pulled over the plane behind the stones, a Cheetah soon docked with the plane and picked her up. The Zerg aircraft full of humans was more than Douglas had expected. “Lieutenant.... You did a great job. They can stay here until the rescue comes.” Douglas talked to her through the communication channel. “From here on, you need to follow my order.”
