When the Galaxy Wept
Lucas Sterling walked to the table and took a piece of paper, then handed it to Harold, “After we retake the planets, you need to dismiss Taron Locke on behalf of me, and you will be the new Marshal. My first order for you is ‘rest on site for 24 hours until I give you a new order.” **** Emerald and Rosalind sat in the corner of the cabin with docents of desperate and anxious civilians around them. This was a medium-sized passenger aircraft, with a capacity of only 30 passengers, but now over 60 people were cramped in it like cattle. Five ergates holding submachine guns were horizontally on the walkway on the second floor of the cabin, monitoring every suspicious move of the passengers. Emerald looked up and saw Colman walk, with his hands in his pockets, back from the second-floor stairs, smiling ambiguously. He sat down near Emerald and Rosalind, with everyone looking at him strangely and skeptically. “I know everything now.” Colman leaned on Emerald, and Emerald immediately tilted her body to move away. He didn’t care about it, but his handsome face seemed cold, though he tried to hide it. “This aircraft will pass through the stone belt to the territory of the Zerg. From there, it will be harder for us to run away.” Emerald was surprised. Colman’s gold had all been taken by the Zergs on the ground after bribing them, but somehow, after stepping into the aircraft, he had loads of money to bribe the ergate for information. He was the only human allowed to walk around in this aircraft. But now, the most important thing was to take over the ship instead of Colman. Just in case, Emerald asked Colman. “Do you have weapons?” Emerald knew her chances were minimal. Colman looked at her in surprise, and after thinking for a while, he suddenly grabbed one of her hands. The cold, bronze fingers slid along her palm, and she felt the cold metal. She looked at him and quietly pinched the knife, holding it in front of her. It was a high-quality, thin, scalpel-like knife. “It’s one of my collections.” Colman suddenly whispered in her ear. “Miss, how many ergates do you plan to kill with this?” Softly and with determination, she said, “All of them.” Rosalind looked at them and widened her beautiful blue eyes. At last, she put her head on Emerald’s shoulder and looked at Colman, “Count me in.” Colman also held Rosalind’s hand and gave her another knife. He smiled when he saw the two women so determined and said, “Interesting.” Soon, a few young men nearby also said that they would like to join the rebel alliance. Although they couldn’t move around under the ergates’ constant monitoring, the brave young people, not willing to be slaves, used signals and codes to communicate with each other. Emerald took Rosalind’s lipstick and drew a simple diagram on the metal ground. Colman nodded to Emerald and quickly told the others their plan. Then Emerald followed Colman to stand up. “What are you doing? Sit down!” The ergate prostrated on the ground suddenly stood up and shouted at them. “Sir! Don’t get me wrong! Don’t shoot!” Colman pushed Emerald to the front, “This is a beautiful woman! She wants to talk to you.” The five ergates all groaned, impossible to determine if it was from happiness or some other emotion. Emerald followed Colman to walk to the ergate captain. Colman smiled lightly, “Sir, human women are beautiful! She wants you to take care of her! She doesn’t want to suffer!” The ergate captain stared at Emerald for a while with his purple compound eyes. Emerald smiled at him calmly. Finally, the captain said in a muffled voice, “Come.” and turned around, walking toward the restroom at the end of the walkway. The door closed, and Colman’s smiling face and the concerning eyes of the passengers were shut from the outside. Emerald turned around and saw the ergate captain standing by a single bed, saying excitedly. “Beautiful human. I want to see your body!” “Sir, I don’t want to suffer after we land on the ground. Please help me.” Emerald walked to him as she spoke and lifted her hands as if she would take off her long dress. The ergate reached out his feet and seemed to be shooting fire from his compound eyes. “Weird! Can your soft human body endure our Zerg sharp body? Ahhh!” A silver light flashed in Emerald’s hand. The ergate fell without making a sound, his head severed from the body. Smelly blood was all over the wall. Emerald was surprised to look at the blood-covered scalpel in her hand. This knife was really something. Although she had been confident of hitting the ergate with it, she hadn’t expected to be able to kill him with one strike. She stabbed the body several more times to make sure it was dead. Then she rested on the bed while she kicked the cabinet by the bed, making sensual sounds. After about ten minutes, she opened the door with just a little crack. The moment she opened the door, she saw Colman and Rosalind standing in front of an ergate in the walkway. Rosalind was very nervous. Colman waved his knife and stabbed it in the stomach of the ergate. The ergate fell back, screaming miserably. The scream triggered the three ergates, which had been soundly asleep on the ground. They suddenly jumped up and pointed their guns at Colman and Rosalind. There were two ergates in front of the restroom, so Emerald held her knife and rushed to them without hesitation, reminding herself that the braver ones always won. The sharp knife was like silver lightning, sliding through an ergate’s neck! Blood sprayed immediately on Emerald’s body, but she kept running and swiftly jumped to the wall to avoid the bullets the other ergate was strafing at her. Right at this moment, she threw her knife to the ergate from a distance. The scalpel hit the ergate stomach but didn’t kill him. Screaming, he turned around to press the alarm button with its tail! Emerald saw the young men running fast to the second floor from the corner of her eyes and jumping toward the other ergate! Emerald felt such an adrenaline surge in her will to survive that she punched the ergate with her fist as she ran past him.
