When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 88 I Agree With You

Captain Shockley picked up the internal phone and announced to the passengers the excellent news. Rosalind was pleased. “Dream Planet, No.17…” Jeff Baker sounded rather calm, “Report your location, and the Cheetah will guide you.” Emerald looked down at the radar. There was debris from many planes, and they were flying through them. Would they be able to tell the exact location? It was only a matter of time for them to find their place. Emerald suddenly took the phone and said word by word. “Jeff, this is a wild kitten. We’re worried about you. Are you threatened by the Zerg? Is your partner Bruce Green beside you? Is he alright?” After a while, Jeff answered. “Lieutenant, it is really nice to hear your voice. I’m not threatened, and it’s safe here. Bruce is right beside me.” “Okay, our location is...” Emerald gave a coordinate and immediately turned off the channel, instructing Shockley to “Leap to Planet Freedom! Right now!” “No! Why?” Paul stood in front of her, “Why did you give them the wrong coordinate? I don’t understand!” “Jeff Baker was once my subordinate, we just said our code words. He is threatened by the Zerg!” Emerald explained, “Hurry. They will find us quickly after receiving contact from us. Leap now!” “No!” Shockley and Paul quickly looked at each other, “Lieutenant, how can we hide in the planet of the mercenary?” At this moment, someone was knocking on the gate. Rosalind opened a crack of the door, and a marine stuck his head in. “Have we got contact with the Alliance? That’s great!” “We will be dead if they find us. Maybe we can still live if we go to Planet Freedom since they have the strongest army.” Emerald quickly spoke about her worries about the communication channel. However, the two pilots were at a lower level and didn’t completely understand what Emeralds was talking about. They didn’t know what was going on on the ground. Besides, Emerald was a mercenary. They had been polite to call her Lieutenant, but they were the ones controlling this aircraft. They also suspected that Emerald was trying to get back to her own planet. “Let’s vote.” Shockley said, “Let’s vote to decide whether or not to go.” Emerald needed to stop this, so she said immediately, “Or I can come back with you to see what’s going on after we go to Planet Freedom. Believe me. The mercenary is with the Alliance in the war against the Zerg. Besides, you saw Jeff knows me. I have been in service for the Alliance for over a year.” The two pilots seemed to believe her, but the marines by the door didn’t. They wanted to vote. “You are right.” Rosalind said, “Let’s vote.” Six people voted. After some hesitation, Shockley agreed with Emerald, but Paul didn’t, and the marine didn’t agree either. Emerald looked at Rosalind, who changed her mind against Emerald at the last moment. “I agree with you.” Rosalind sighed. “But four patients in the back cabin are about to die. We don’t know what will happen when we arrive at Planet Freedom, but they must get treatment immediately to control their condition. Even if we only have one-tenth of a chance... Lieutenant. Sorry, what I care about the most is to save a life.” Emerald looked at her with new eyes after listening to her words. Emerald sighed, “Okay, the majority rules. If we find anything wrong...” She quickly took out her gun and pointed it at Shockley’s head. “Leap now!” Everyone was surprised, and Shockley failed to move. Emerald walked forward and started to set the coordinates with one hand! Paul hesitated for a second but then grabbed her waist and threw her backward! Emerald shoots the pedal under his feet without hesitating with a “loud bang” Paul was so surprised that he let go of Emerald. Most of these men were young and had never participated in real combat. Being in the middle of the Zerg made them extremely nervous. They realized that Emerald was prepared to kill someone if needed and didn’t dare to walk near her. Emerald got up and jumped at the control panel again and set up the coordinates, grabbing Shockley’s collar. “Where is the key?” The key was needed to turn the FTL engine on manually. Shockley didn’t dare to move with a cold gun pointing at his head and slowly took out the key from his chest… A silver light flashed by, and then they were covered by a black shadow. They looked up and saw two Cheetahs in front of their cabin. “Dream No. 17, turn off your engine immediately,” Jeff said indifferently, “or the Cheetah will destroy you immediately.” The Cheetah could easily control a fleet of civil aircraft with primary weapons, let alone this one aircraft.Emerald grabbed the key from Shockley’s hand and put it in the engine, but the Cheetah seemed to notice their moves, and a beam of red light suddenly hit them. “Boom! “The plane turned upside down, throwing everyone through the room and against the walls. The only two still seated were the two pilots. The FTL engine was destroyed! “It’s over...” Even Paul, who didn’t agree with Emerald at the first time, now realized that something was wrong. Everyone looked at Emerald in regret. Emerald struggled to stand up from the ground. She tried to repress her anger as she said. “All we can do now is see what will happen next. Don’t fight them from the front.” Everything remained quiet after they hit for about a minute when someone stepped into the aircraft. Emerald, Rosalind, and the other two civilians hid the weapons under their clothes. Everyone was looking nervously at the people coming in.A tall Alliance soldier walked in, one with whom Emerald was very familiar, Jeff Baker. He looked around quietly, eyes filled with guilt and sorrow. When he glanced at Emerald, he didn’t say a thing. Apparently, he had surrendered to the Zerg for a reason. He stood still by the gate with three Zergs behind him. Their black bodies, purple compound eyes, and sharp barbs were massive, and they stood up straight on their most muscular back legs just like humans, wearing golden Zerg uniforms. Someone behind Emerald screamed in a suppressed voice. Emerald felt that she had no future at the sight of their enemy, whom she hadn’t seen for a long time.
