When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 77 Don't Be Frightened

Patrick pushed the gauze with one hand as if he didn’t feel any pain. He stared at the woman in his arms, who was furious and scared, smiling. “Emerald Wilson.” His face was so close to hers that his breath was all over her face. Emerald lowered her head and kept silent. “You are really brave now.” It seemed that he didn’t care about damaging his image as the cold, cruel Commander. He looked at her with smiling eyes and suddenly lowered his head to kiss her. His hot tongue went down to her throat, and the smell of blood almost took her breath. Since Emerald had been forced from the Cheetah into a medium warship by Patrick, she was stuck in a special cabinet where she had to stay until they landed in a cold town in the southern hemisphere at a high altitude. On Patrick’s order, Harvey opened the cabinet to let her out.Emerald walked silently to the gate when she suddenly saw Patrick standing in front of her. She passed him without any apparent emotional reaction, and his face looked cold as ice. Finally, he grasped her waist and carried her down the warship. A group of military officers was behind them. Although Emerald didn’t fight Patrick in front of them, she was reluctant to be nice to him after losing the fight earlier and kept silent as long as she could. Stepping on the ground, she was fascinated by the beautiful scenery in front of her. Down the hill, the frozen rivers were crystal clear, the water was clean, with a faint blue glow resonating the crystal-clear sky. Giant pieces of white wood on the river beds made the place look magical. Small, plain wooden houses were not far from the river, looking warm and inviting. The distant mountains were like a crawled giant, high enough to touch the clouds, overlooking the whole town. Emerald felt like she was stepping into a fairyland, clean, gentle, and isolated from the outside world. They drove to the base of the mountain with a group of mercenaries in an SUV in less than 20 minutes. Emerald sat quietly in the car, looking with fascination through the window at the splendid lakes and rivers which looked like colorful gems. The bite marks on Patrick’s neck were covered with a band-aid. His hand was casually behind her back, and he didn’t say anything. Harvey felt the silence between them and smiled at Emerald, “Ms. Wilson, a beautiful scene, right?” Emerald nodded. “Why is the water here so colorful?” “It’s because of the soil and minerals in the water. After the nuclear radiation during the last war with the Zerg, there are only a few visitors here, but before then, this used to be the biggest mineral base of the Alliance.” No wonder Patrick was coming here with the warship. But why had he taken her with him?At the foot of the mountain were several factory floors occupying a huge area. Black smoke was rising up to the sky from the roaring machines. In the center of the factory was a huge asphalt area with more than 20 Cheetahs and Snowbirds parked, some new and some older. Technicians wearing blue suits were fixing these fighters. Arriving at the tarmac, an extremely tall man who looked to be around age 35 walked up to them. He was wearing an old mercenary uniform, looking handsome and powerful. Unlike the other mercenaries and Patrick, he just stood there with a smile on his face. His presence demanded lenience and integrity, even without him saying a word. His rank was Major General. This was the first time Emerald saw a man with the title of General in the mercenary. She couldn’t help but look at him a few more times. “Commander!” He and Patrick saluted and then embraced in a hug. Emerald looked at Patrick’s face and saw a soft smile. “Brother.” He said as he stood beside the other man who patted his arm. Emerald was surprised to see that there was someone to whom Patrick was obedient. The tall man looked at them tenderly. Harvey and the others saluted him as “Major General!” He was calm, with a sense of serenity surrounding him. After a while, he finally looked at Emerald, who instinctively saluted him. “Major General!” He nodded his head with a smile, looking back at Patrick. “Is this my sister-in-law?” Patrick remained silent, and so did Emerald. The Major General seemed not to notice the silence between them and reached out to shake Emerald’s hand. “Nice to meet you, I’m Malcolm Gerald.” Emerald shook his warm hand and responded. “Sir, I’m Lieutenant Emerald Wilson.” Surprisingly, Malcolm knew who she was. “Oh? The wild kitten who buried ten nuclear bombs to threaten Patrick?”Emerald nodded while Patrick remained silent as he placed his arm around her and then finally said to Malcolm. “I don’t remember you being this chatty before.” Malcolm laughed out loud and took them to the dorm. There was no doubt that Emerald and Patrick would be sharing one room. Malcolm told Patrick their afternoon agenda and went to the cafeteria. Emerald put her luggage on the table when she suddenly felt someone hugging her from the back. “Stay away from him.” He whispered as he turned her around and caught her chin. Emerald’s dark eyes were fixed on his as she asked. “Who is he?” Emotionlessly, Patrick answered. “My old boss. The person I respected the most.” ***** Emerald was surprised. Although she had heard that Patrick had once been a low-level soldier at the mercenary, she couldn’t imagine him respecting others as his boss. Although Malcolm was his subordinate now, he still regarded him, which was so different from his usual arrogance and pride. But why did he ask her to stay away from Malcolm? After lunch, Malcolm took Patrick and Emerald to see the plane manufacturing assembly line. It was a short visit, and afterward, the two men discussed capital arrangements and production plans. Then, Malcolm seemed to remember something and asked suddenly. “How is the robot you found?” Emerald felt a little nervous and looked at Patrick, who seemed very serious. “All destroyed “ Malcolm smiled reluctantly. “You should have kept one for me. I heard the princess was beautiful and could have been my wife!” Then he looked at Emerald with a smile. “Don’t be frightened. I love machines, and I’m willing to trade all my belongings for a robot wife.”
