When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 58 Where Is Our Princess?

Emerald realized that her hands were sweating. In her mind, she saw his handsome and quiet face as his hand reached the princess in front of her. “Em.” She closed her eyes to calm herself down. Then, although he couldn’t see her, she nodded, “Yes, I’m afraid that you’ll get angry.” Patrick, on the other end, suddenly smiled deeply. It was hard to tell whether he was angry or happy. “Stop the attack, and I’ll send someone to give you the contract. Kitten, you’re right. If I weren’t busy dealing with the Alliance, I wouldn’t have given you time to bury the bombs. Since everything I did was for the benefits, I promise you that you can have the right of autonomy and resource exploitation.” Her heart missed a beat at the sound of his voice as he agreed to her terms. She knew that he would keep his promise. But she wasn’t as happy as she had expected when she finally achieved her goal. “Thank you, my lord.” She paused before she asked with a doubting voice. “My lord, do you blame me?” Patrick was silent for a while before he answered. “Kitten, this is the last time you ran away from me.” Emerald was upset but answered steadily without showing her emotions. “...I see.” After hanging up the phone, she looked at Yearwood in a daze. “He agrees and will send the contract immediately. I’ll help you negotiate with him. I think you will not suffer too much as long as you have his promise of autonomy, the planet will develop in a better way with the advanced technologies they bring here.” Yearwood stared at her pale face and nodded, “I don’t know how to thank you.” “Let’s go back to the town.” Emerald’s cold hand pulled the control lever and turned on the engine. The Cheetah sped up and flew vertically up to the sky. Emerald looked down and saw the smoke and fire everywhere on the planet. The attacking Cheetahs had all left, with only a few black shadows left in the clouds. On the ground, the people were wandering around the crisscrossing streets and the low houses, looking small and humble like ants. On the sight of the ruins left where the city had been, she kept thinking about their conversation, and some clues and ideas gradually emerged in her mind. Why did she feel instinctive that everything she did was in Patrick’s expectations? Although the mercenaries had discovered the planet first, it was still difficult for them to monopolize the planet behind the back of the Alliance. Taking over the planet violently might leave the Zerg, and the Alliance excused to criticize them. But it would be very different if they exploited the planet with the people on the ground, without political issues or violations against the human race. No one could criticize them since it was all about economic interests. Besides, the thirsty mercenaries would have nothing to say and had to face reality when he gave up because of threatening with nuclear weapons. “What’s your plan?” Yearwood’s voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts, and he looked at her deeply. “Are you going to go back to that man?” After being silent for a while, Emerald said, “No, never.” Yearwood turned around and looked at the boundless sky, ground, and his now chaotic city. Then he looked at Emerald with all honesty. “Miss Wilson, I can only wish you a happy and healthy life. If you need my help one day, the whole Tang Dynasty and thousands of Kung Fu heroes will be at your service. We will help you no matter what it takes.” Emerald smiled at him. “Thanks.” As the Cheetah flew to the sky above the palace, they saw the miserable scene. All the tall buildings were razed to the ground, and bleeding bodies were scattered in the resting palace of the royal family. Of course, they rarely saw a civilian’s body, but Emerald was not surprised to see that those tall and beautiful houses, usually the senior officials’ mansion, were blown into pieces. Emerald suspected that Patrick had sent people to the ground to collect useful clues before the attack. It was obvious that he destroyed the royal family because he was planning to form a puppet government in the future. She had done everything she could. In the future, the planet would still rely on people like Yearwood to struggle and fight against the mercenaries, but she couldn’t foresee the path of the future. The fire lit up the relics of the palace, and the maids and eunuchs were fleeing in disorder. Yearwood protected Emerald, went to the opposite way of the crowd, and gradually went further into the palace. When they reached the court, Yearwood finally found a six-grade official and asked him harshly, “Where is our princess? Where is the prime minister?”The official was startled, “Dead. They are all dead. The Sunset palace collapsed, and the court was down. They are all buried under it.” In about ten minutes, all Cheetahs had retreated to the space fortress, and the attack was suspended, but the black fortress above the sky still made every citizen of the Tang Dynasty frightened. The political system of the country had collapsed. It was said that the princess, who was in a coma, was buried under the Sunset Palace, and her body hadn’t been found yet. At last, some loyal Kung Fu fighters and some low-level officials were brave enough to assemble an emergency rescue, standing in front of the relics, staring at the enormous but quiet “monster” in the sky. “Master Lynch,” an official said with worry, “Have they really stopped attacking us? Will we be allowed to stay here?” One of the fighters shouted angrily. “We should fight against them no matter what! I would’ve killed the monsters myself if it wasn’t for their unknown methods of fighting.” Another stared coldly at Emerald, inquiring. “Master, do you really believe this monster’s words?” Emerald didn’t feel like debating with them in such a tense atmosphere and raw emotions. She raised her head and suddenly saw a Cheetah coming from the deck of the space fortress and flying directly to the ground.
