When the Galaxy Wept
That afternoon, Harrison Gates, who had no idea about being involved in the scandal, was indeed in the space fortress, but so was Patrick Lewis. Harrison Gates was the best Captain in Patrick’s army and was put into an important position. He was as loyal as always but still held a grudge because Bruce Green had instigated him to rise in rebellion, which was all under the order of Patrick ever since he had been looking for a chance to play a prank on his boss. Therefore, when he saw that familiar slender figure outside the combat operation room at the fortress, all he could think about was the prank rather than his admiration for Emerald. “Kitten?” He called her. She paused and turned around and smiled when she saw him. “Colonel.”“Haven’t seen you for a long time. Why are you here?” He smiled. “Looking for me?” “No. I’m looking for the Commander.” She was careful with what she said, “Is he here?” Harrison looked at Emerald. He hadn’t known that Kenzo Lane was Patrick Lewis before and that Harvey really left the mercenary to be a decent guy. He also thought that Emerald was Harvey’s woman. Finally, when Harvey and Harrison had shared a drink, he knew that she was the Commander’s woman, and the Commander was kind of fixated on her. No matter what the relationship was between the Commander and her, she was the only woman that the Commander had slept within these years. Harrison said casually. “I’m going to find him. You can come with me.” She felt a little bit weird but followed Harrison through a long, narrow alloy corridor. She couldn’t tell what was wrong, but Harrison was too calm and took it too relaxed when he first saw her. Maybe he had already known everything about her due to his high rank. Or maybe he didn’t mind being treated unjustly due to his close relationship with Patrick; otherwise, Patrick wouldn’t put him in such an important position. But why did she feel that he looked at her weirdly? She was sure about one thing that Patrick would never let anybody hurt her no matter how he treated her himself, let alone his subordinates. She decided to take a step at a time. He took her to an independent cabin in the center of the fortress. Two heavily armed guards stood outside. He opened the door and stepped in first. “I gave him my cabin when he came.” Harrison seemed to notice that she was a little worried, so he told the guard they didn’t need to close the door. Emerald was a little relieved. She walked in and found out that this was only a restroom with a king-size bed and a sofa. It looked the same as the restroom in Phoenix. There was a door in the wall. She looked at it and saw through the dark glass door what looked like a work cabin. “Wait here for a second.” Harrison stood up. “Have a rest if you are tired. The Commander will come back soon, but I can’t stay any longer. I have to patrol the ship.” “Yes,” Emerald said respectfully. Harrison walked out of the restroom and left the door unlocked. Emerald sat there alone, waiting anxiously. She had already decided to leave Phoenix. But she was still thinking about whether to stay with Patrick. She could if she was determined to run away from him, wandering in the whole galaxy. Maybe he couldn’t find her among so many people, maybe he wouldn’t take so much effort to look for her, Emerald Wilson. But he had made it clear that he would take her to look for the Earth. But if the price was to be his woman, she might be thrown away like trash when he lost interest in her. But she felt the pain that he did treat her in a special way. Everyone knew that he had never had a woman with him before, but every word and every touch of him made her feel the possessive desire for her. Therefore, it was difficult for her to take this step. She admitted that the temptation was so strong that she might fall to death. But when she heard of the news of colonization, she had immediately decided to find him. Maybe this planet was another bait, but what if it was really the Earth? She wanted to see for herself. Besides, she knew a lot more than him. If he insisted on colonization, at least she could gain more interest in the Earth. After waiting for a while, she heard someone’s footsteps. Then a familiar voice came, “Who is in the restroom?” It was Harvey McAdams, which meant that Patrick might come with him. “Sir, no one.” The guard answered to her surprise. Then she heard another footstep. It was Harrison Gates’ voice. “Are you sure you want to let this woman meet the Commander?” Emerald was confused, and she heard Harvey answer, “She was the leader of the human beings on the ground, and the Commander said that he wanted to meet her …” Harvey smiled. “Wasn’t the Commander angry because Emerald wasn’t caught that day? Maybe the Commander just likes this kind of woman.” “So, you want the Commander to have some fun?” Harrison said wickedly. Both men smiled. Harvey said, “The soldiers had taken off all her clothes when I found her. If I hadn’t gone there fast enough….”Emerald paused for just a second and then stood quietly, lowering her body like a cat to watch through the crack of the door. There was a small, thin girl standing quietly with her head down between the two tall men who were both wearing uniforms. She was almost as tall as Emerald, and her hair was simply bound up at the back of her head. A jade-green cloak was covering her body. Emerald could tell that she was a striking girl out of a glance. Her brows were arched like lines of distant hills, her eyes were like deep wells, and her face was innocent. She wasn’t just pretty, and she was beautiful in a dazzling way when you looked at her carefully. Her eyes were so calm that they looked like silently flowing water.
