When the Galaxy Wept

Chapter 44 You're Smart

He was silent for a moment and suddenly smiled as he sat up, reaching out his long arms to lift her up and put her on his thighs, and kissed her again. “You’re smart...” He put one of her hands on the back of his head and another on his erect manhood. Emerald felt her body lit up by his moves as if a stream of electricity was flowing from his desire to hers. She was still nervous and flustered, but it felt different from last time when she had been terrified. It seemed that his understanding smile and disappearing anger made her want him desperately, so she put her arms around his strong waist. He immediately noticed her move and held her more tightly as if he wanted to melt her into his body. “Bang, bang, bang!” The alarming knocking on the door interrupted the two making out.Patrick put Emerald on the bed and quickly took off his shirt to cover Emerald’s body as he said in a low voice. “Wait for me.” “Okay.” When he opened the door, the loud music and the noises suddenly flooded into the room. Some people were shouting. “Fire!” “Move!” Patrick whispered to the man by the door, then closed the door and walked out of the room. Emerald instantly got dressed and walked to the door, but the door was locked from the outside. She couldn’t hear anything because the room was soundproof. Five or six minutes later, Emerald heard a bang and immediately hid beside the bed. The door was suddenly smashed down, and two young faces emerged from the smoke. They were wearing the mercenary suit and blushed because they were nervous, but their eyes were sharp and bright. At the sight of Emerald, they almost cried. “Lieutenant, you must have suffered a lot!” Jeff and Whitey rushed to her and lifted her up from the ground. They took her out before she said anything. “Did you set the fire?” She looked at the messy pub and the smoke that had spread everywhere. “Lieutenant, sorry to offend you.” Jeff lifted her to his chest, and Whitey threw a cloak over her so she was covered completely. They immediately went into the chaotic crowd. “Wait...” Emerald was nervous and grabbed Jeff’s collar. But it was too noisy for Jeff to hear her voice. Jeff only thought that Emerald was nervous, so he walked even faster. It was already midnight, dark and cold outside. The five people were gasping in a narrow alley. “We have finally got rid of those mercenaries,” Whitey said with a bloody nose and a swollen face. He looked at her with an apology. “Thank you for your efforts,” Emerald said softly. The four young boys all laughed. Jeff paused and said, “I asked Robert and Foxy for help. You are right, the enemy’s enemy is our friend.” Emerald nodded, “Maybe they haven’t blocked the transportation, we should go to the harbor immediately and leave.” Whitey said with surprise, “We have done the thing very neatly. Besides, it is not necessary to block the harbor even though they find it was us.” Jeff poked him with his arm, and then Whitey stopped talking. Not necessary? Her men risked their lives to save her, so she couldn’t just leave them here, she had to go with them. But would he let her go this time if he knew she could run away again? Especially when he promised to take her to look for the Earth and told her to wait for him? They arrived at space harbor, and Jeff bought tickets for a trade ship under Emerald’s command. They decided to leave their Cheetah here and would send other people to get it after they arrived safely. When they were going to get on board they saw a couple of military police in black suits standing at the entrance of the ship, holding a portrait in their hands and checking every passenger. Emerald looked around and saw that the military police were everywhere. “You go first.” Emerald made the decision quickly. “No, lieutenant!” Jeff and the others disagreed with shock. “Actually, I was going to leave after we arrived in Phoenix.” She took out the alliance air force Lieutenant badge and put it in Jeff’s hand. “Lieutenant...” “I decided to leave the alliance air force. Please tell the Captain about my resignation.” Emerald looked at their young faces. “Try your best. Maybe there will be a war in the future, you should work hard and learn as much as you can.” The young men looked at each other and didn’t know what to say. After a while, Jeff stared at her, “Lieutenant, are you... going to look for that man from last night?” Emerald was silent. “Who is he? Is he trustworthy?” Jeff looked at her with care. They knew that she rarely changed her decision. “He is a criminal.” Emerald smiled lightly,” but he’s also the one who treats me the best.” Emerald said goodbye to them with tears in her eyes, then tried to hide from the mercenaries. She didn’t go to the headquarter of the mercenary or go to the mansion of the Mayor to find Patrick Lewis but went to find Robert and Foxy according to the address Jeff had given her, where she found them drinking wine in defeat. “Hey, gorgeous.” Foxy smiled wildly. “ You’re finally willing to get yourself out of the officer’s bed.” Emerald pretended not to hear the joke and sat directly beside them. “Foxy, we are gonna be rich.” Robert picked up a glass and looked at Emerald with his eyes squinting, “All the military police are searching for one woman. How much do you think they will pay for this woman?” “They will give you nothing.” Emerald took out a wad of cash from her pocket and threw it on the table. “On the contrary, they will arrest two arsonists.” Robert was surprised, and Foxy laughed loudly. “Wild kitten, whose toes have you stepped on? Why are the military police looking for you?” “That’s none of your business.” Emerald pushed the money to them. “I want to join the mercenary. I want to cooperate with you.”
