God-Tier Like System
At this moment, Luna was staring at Christopher. The admiration in her eyes increased and she gently reached out her hand, blinking her sparkling eyes as she said with a smile, “I hope we have a happy collaboration. We’ll sign the agreement tomorrow!” Christopher was overjoyed deep down but he kept the same calm, breezy expression on his face and extended his hand with a smile. “Here’s to a happy collaboration!” Scarlett watched them clasp hands, and she fervently wished she could run over and give Christopher a kick to send him flying before viciously crushing him beneath her foot. With no other business at hand, Christopher got ready to leave after getting off work. However, much to his surprise, she quickly reached out with her arm and her leg to block the door and cut off his exit. “What are you trying to do?” he asked with fake-panic after taking a few steps back. The question made her grumble. Why does this b*stard never take things seriously? Nevertheless, she mumbled for a few moments before carefully asking, “W-What’s wrong with your hand?”“Nothing. I’m simply filled with bravery and righteousness, so I injured myself while helping others yesterday!” he answered shamelessly with a careless wave of his hand. “Righteousness? I think you mean ‘foolhardiness,” she snapped at him before following up with another question. “Are you still in pain?” The moment Christopher heard that, his expression changed and he took another two steps back. Sh*t! This woman is always thinking about flaying me with a vegetable knife. Such a question was suspicious and absolutely out of the norm, and he had the urge to run away from the woman standing before him. “F*ck! Are you running a fever? I can’t believe you’re truly concerned about me!” “I-I just wanted to ask a favor of you,” she answered with a blush in an uncharacteristically soft voice, lowering her head and retracting her limbs rather than throwing a fit as usual. After rolling his eyes and pursing his lips, he finally relaxed and walked up to her as he said loudly, “Well, you should’ve said that earlier. You gave me a shock! Tell me, what do you need?” As long as her request didn’t cross the line, he was willing to help her. “I-I… Well, the thing is, my grandfather is coming here in two days to take me home but I don’t want to go. He said I have to, unless… unless I have a boyfriend…” Despite her soft voice and reddened cheeks, Scarlett sounded unusually awkward. Nonetheless, that didn’t sound like a problem to Christopher. All she needs is to invest some money in finding a man to pretend to be her boyfriend. Simple as that! And so, he answered her with another careless wave of his hand, “Oh, I see! I was wondering what the big deal was. If you need a boyfriend, just ask a man to help you out! You could even ask Luna to introduce you… Hold on.” He paused as he realized what she actually meant. Suddenly, his mouth fell open and he blinked stupidly at her. Jabbing his thumb at himself, he asked in disbelief, “You’re not asking me, are you?” Immediately, he took another five or six steps back as he stared directly at her. He had the feeling she was about to get violent with him. Yet, she blinked tenderly at him and nodded before answering softly, “Yes.” “What the f*ck? Why do you need me to be your boyfriend?” he questioned and he rubbed his slightly aching temples. With a seemingly embarrassed smile, she told him, “My grandfather says my boyfriend has to be a chef of equal or higher rank than me and whose age difference to me is not more than five years. Otherwise, he’s not going to give me his blessing.” Once again, he was stunned. There were only a handful of chefs in all of Madrila who were around Scarlett’s age and of equal or higher rank than her. For f*ck’s sake! Not everyone is as naturally gifted as her or had Lawrence Sparks pass on his culinary skills so that they could achieve what she had at her age. He could already imagine that if he genuinely pretended to be her boyfriend, Lawrence would undoubtedly test his culinary skills. Wouldn’t that be tantamount to leaping into the fire when the time came? Right now, his actual skills were miles below hers so it would be suicide to pretend to be her boyfriend. If he wanted to pass Lawrence’s test, there was no doubt he would need to make use of the Thumbs-Up System and all of the thumbs-up points he had. No! I cannot agree to her proposal! If she needs help, it will be better for her to have Luna introduce someone to her. With that, he tried his best to put on an expression of sadness and regret. He gave a dramatic sigh and even wiped at the corners of his eyes, willing teardrops to fall. “You see, Scarlett, I might be handsome but I’m already 30, which means that I’m eight or nine years older than you. I apologize. It’s my fault!” Blinking doubtfully at him, she pulled out a single sheet of paper from her bag and proffered it to him, saying, “Look at this!” It was a photocopy of his driver’s license—she had procured it from Luna. On it, his birth date was clearly stated. A simple calculation would show that he was about 25 years of age right now. He was only four years older than her. F*ck! Was that necessary? Right now, his expression was one of consternation and the corners of his mouth kept turning down. Clearly, she had anticipated that he would repent. No—she wasn’t that smart. It had to have been Luna who gave her the idea. With a cough, he pleaded, “Ahem! Can you really not get anyone else to do it, Scarlett?” “No, because they can’t be users of Legend Level or Divine Level knife skills. I don't know where you get your skills from but it’s fine as long as you have them,” she chirped with a smile. Once again, he stared at her even as he rolled his eyes internally. “And what will you do if I don’t agree?”
