God-Tier Like System
When he walked out of the bathroom, Christopher saw that Maya was somehow curled up in the corner with her head buried in her hands. “What’s going on?” He prodded her little head with his index finger and asked, “What are you doing here?” “Ah!” At once, she snapped out of her bashful behavior and found that his hands were actually dry. Suspicious by this, she pointed at his nose and stuttered, “Y-Y-You didn’t wash your hands?!” I didn’t wash my hands? Christopher was stunned upon hearing her words. Sh*t! She must’ve misunderstood me. The saintly, glorious image that he had been struggling to maintain was destroyed. However, such an inexplicable incident was hard for him to explain. Therefore, he could only brush her off and let it slide as if nothing had happened. At 1.00PM, Maya, Christopher, and the old man in a military uniform, who was deemed a gay man by Christopher, were led to the filming site by the floor staff. “Are the lighting, sound engineers, cameramen, and props ready? The next scene is crucial, and I want it completed in one shot. I hope there won’t be any mistakes, all right?” Upon reaching the site, they saw a slightly gray-haired, middle-aged man with a hat commanding the people. Although this man was absent from the ‘Glutton God’ press conference due to his busy schedule, Christopher still recognized him. He was Caleb George, the leading figure of the sixth-generation directors in Madrila. As a matter of fact, Christopher had watched all of Caleb’s films; the latter was truly a gifted man. Rumors even had it that he was extremely demanding when it came to every detail in his movies. It wasn’t surprising, though—he wouldn’t have become the leader of the sixth-generation directors if his films did not have such amazing qualities. “Here you are!” Catching sight of Christopher and the others, Caleb walked toward them and welcomed them warmly. “Hello, Mr. George!” Maya looked at Caleb and greeted him. In the face of this exceptionally talented director, she was fairly respectful. “Hey, Maya!” After nodding at her in response, he glimpsed at Christopher and asked, “Is he the excellent young chef who knows Dual Wielding?” “That’s right!” She nodded as well. “Please be assured! He’s definitely great at cooking.” Initially, he was somewhat worried because he thought that Christopher was quite young and probably wasn’t that experienced in cooking. Once he heard Maya’s assuring words, he felt relieved. Caleb patted Christopher’s shoulders and complimented him by saying, “You seem great, young man. The next scene is your showtime.” With the Divine Level Knife Skills—Shutter Blade—in his hand, Christopher wasn’t the slightest bit nervous, so he assured Caleb and said, “You can count on me, Mr. George.” After briefly going over the scene with him, Caleb turned around and left. Moments later, a cheesy young dude came up to Christopher and asked proudly, “You’re the chef who’s going to act opposite me later?” In fact, Christopher knew this guy as well. He was Zachary Newman, the current hottest young hunk. However, he led quite a debaucherous life in private. According to the news two days ago, Zachary had allegedly hooked up with one of his fans. At the thought of this, Christopher wondered why Caleb, who had always been particular about choosing actors, would pick Zachary to play the lead role. In response to Zachary’s question, he smiled and nodded. “Yeah, that’s me!” Zachary glanced at him disdainfully and continued, “I don’t get it. Why must the director find a real chef to play this role? Why can’t he just look for some passerby or an extra? Why must he go through all the hassle? He’s simply wasting my time.” As an actor, especially a famous one at that, Zachary felt devalued to act with a lowly chef. Who was he? This mere chef couldn’t even compare with him. Originally, he heard that the initial candidate was a five-star chef from Caesars Palace who was recognized by the Madrila International Association of Chefs. If it were a chef with such a background, he could still find it somewhat acceptable, but for a little-known chef like Christopher, he couldn’t stand it at all. Therefore, he couldn’t see eye to eye with Christopher. “Back off!” He pushed Christopher and badgered, “Get out of my way!” Then, he triumphantly strode away. “Miss, this dude’s pretty cocky, huh?” said the military doctor after Zachary disappeared from their sight. “Yeah.” Maya nodded and continued, “His reputation has always been awful. If his father wasn’t the investor of this film, the director wouldn’t have chosen him as the leading role.” “Miss, judging by his worn face and floaty footsteps, I think lust and alcohol must have taken a huge toll on his health. He certainly isn’t some good guy. You have to watch your back on the set!” said the military doctor as he cautioned her. “Okay, Mr. Armstrong. Don’t worry about it!” Maya nodded and added, “I’ll be careful. Besides, I won’t see him alone without you by my side.” “Christopher,” called Maya as she seemed to recall something just then. “Watch out when you’re shooting later, for Zachary might embarrass you on purpose.” Embarrass me? Christopher smiled. He was merely a cameo who’d be leaving right after the scene was done. Well, this Zachary had better not mess with him. Otherwise, he would let Zachary know the price he had to pay for underestimating a chef. After all, he was not an easy mark himself! As the lighting was set and the site was cleared, everyone was on standby. According to the director’s request, Christopher was standing on a raised platform with Zachary beside him at that moment. Meanwhile, Maya was watching them underneath the platform because she wasn’t part of the scene. “Action!” Caleb shouted with a wave of his hand once he saw that everyone was ready. Since Christopher knew that he simply needed to show his knife skills, he decided to apply the Divine Level Knife Skills—Shutter Blade. He grabbed the double blade on the table, and several flashes of lights occurred after that. Everyone on set simply felt dazed when they saw that, and nobody could see how Christopher swung the knives. They only saw that the tiny little ice cubes from earlier had already turned into delicate ice flowers. In the meantime, Caleb felt thrilled because this was exactly the effect he wanted to achieve; he constantly zoomed in and gave Christopher multiple close-ups since he wanted to record this spectacular scene. At this moment, Christopher thought the embarrassing scene that Maya mentioned earlier wouldn’t happen. However, he suddenly felt a kick to his knee before his leg went limp. As he lurched forward, he hit the kitchen counter and ended up with ice shavings all over his body. “Cut!” When he saw that a supposedly great shot had been ruined, Caleb was somewhat upset. He shifted his gaze away from the camera and asked Christopher with furrowed brows, “What happened?” How could the shot be ruined just like this?
