Chapter 27 So Big and So Firm

“Had too much to drink?” Luna asked. Christopher nodded. “Scarlett, please get a glass of water for him,” Luna ordered Scarlett. Me? Getting water for him? Me! Getting water for him! Upon hearing the request, Scarlett found it somewhat unacceptable. Why should I do it?! Ugh, fine! She had to admit that he had indeed surprised her by remaking the roasted tomato risotto from Mr. Moses’ memory, but did he deserve her service just because of that? There won’t be a chance because you’re still a liar who doesn’t know Dual Wielding! “I’m not doing it!” As she turned her head, she refused with reluctance written all over her face. “Scarlett!” At once, Luna’s tone became a little stern. In fact, Scarlett was rather fearless—even her grandpa, who was the master chef, had no power over her. However, she was still a little scared of Luna, so she did not dare to be willful when she saw Luna becoming mad. “Fine, fine! I’ll do it, okay? It’s just a plate of risotto anyway! What’s so great about that?” Wrinkling her little nose, Scarlett snorted and unwillingly trudged toward the water dispenser. After getting the water, she reached out and handed the glass to Christopher. Then, she said, “Here’s your water!” As his headache grew worse, he didn’t have the energy to argue with her, so he just took the glass of water and drank it. One glass of cold water was enough to make Christopher regain his sobriety and his vision slowly returned to normal. With her arms folded, Luna smiled at him. “I didn’t expect you to be able to make it.” “Well, I just got lucky!” he replied while desperately trying to control himself from looking at something he shouldn’t. “Sometimes, luck can’t explain everything,” she responded as she seemed not to have noticed his perverse gaze. Or, perhaps she simply pretended not to do so. “Would you be able to get home on your own?” Seeing that Christopher was really drunk, Luna asked. “I think it’s not a problem,” he answered. What do you mean you think? Luna frowned. After she hesitated for a second, she said to Scarlett, “You should head home first, Scarlett.” “What about you, Luna?” Scarlett queried. Luna glanced at Christopher before she responded, “I’ll send him home.” “You? Sending him home?” Scarlett shouted as she seemed to have heard something unbelievable. “No, Luna, absolutely not! You have no idea what he did back in the kitchen. He—” “I don’t want to know,” Luna interjected. “Let’s go!” As she spoke, she helped Christopher up from his seat and went outside. “Luna!” Seeing that Luna had walked right past her, Scarlett hastily followed them. It was his first time to be in such close proximity to Luna so much so that her floral scent wafted into his nostrils. From where he stood, he could even see two bouncy ball-shaped objects jiggling as they walked. Oh god, his willpower was being tested again! As they arrived at the car park, she helped Christopher into the passenger seat before she went to the driver’s seat. Just as she closed the door and was ready to start the engine, Scarlett pitifully ran toward her and leaned over the window, saying, “Luna, if you’re sending him home, what about me?” “Get a cab for yourself.” A cab? Luna’s driving this liar back, yet I have to get a cab?!What did I do to deserve this?! Scarlett wanted to say something else, but sadly, Luna didn’t give her a chance to pester further and started the engine. Vroom! Soon, the red Porsche sped off into the distance. Meanwhile, Scarlett was a little stunned as she never expected Luna, who had always doted on her, to leave her alone like this. It is all because of that liar! “Christopher! Christopher! Christopher Yard!” In the empty basement car park, Scarlett waved her hands before she stomped her feet and shouted, “I’ll never let you get away with this!” Vroom! On the other side, the rose-colored Porsche sped down the broad highway. The roar of the engine and the rapidly passing street view gave Christopher an adrenaline rush. A dream car and a beauty—the ultimate dream of probably every man. Well, men strove hard their entire lives just to achieve those two things. In the beginning, he was only peeking at Luna as he was afraid that she might notice. When he later noticed that she didn’t react to him, he became even more courageous and straightforward. “Like what you see?” Just as Christopher was busy admiring her drop-dead gorgeous figure while praising the Lord for his divine work, she suddenly spoke up. “What?” Thinking that he might have misheard her words, he subconsciously asked. “I said—do you like what you see?” Luna repeated. He didn’t know what to say in embarrassment. “Are all men like this?” Luna asked when she saw Christopher keeping his silence. “When y’all see a woman, the first thing y’all would do is to look at her face and her body. As long as they meet your standards, you guys would think of a way of getting her to sleep with you, right?” He was rendered speechless. “Why aren’t you answering me? Did I say anything wrong?” Luna continued with her words as she seemed to have discovered men’s unpleasant nature in Christopher. Upon hearing this, he awkwardly smiled with an uncomfortable expression. Simply put, what he experienced earlier was merely Dutch courage. When he peeked at Luna earlier, he felt righteous. Now that he saw her getting mad, he cowered and didn’t dare to say a word. At this point, he could only grin like a fool to conceal his embarrassment. At once, the air in the car became rather heavy and it was somewhat oppressive. While Christopher wanted to say something to break the silence, he didn’t have the guts to do so. Glancing at Luna, he found that her expression was icy cold. Five minutes later, he peeked at her again, only to find that her face still had the same expression. Just when he had no idea what to do, she spoke up after remaining silent for such a long time. “What’s your address?” she asked in a less icy tone. For a second, he was stupefied. “I said, what’s your address?” Luna repeated her question. “74, Spruce Street!” Christopher came back to his senses and quickly answered. After she had his address, she lost interest in talking with him. Without even looking at him, she hit the gas and sped off.
