God-Tier Like System
In the Imperial Room, Luna was now in high spirits as her gloomy mood had disappeared. When Christopher offered to make the risotto, she didn’t have much hope and just wanted to give it a shot as a last-ditch effort. It worked out unexpectedly and became a huge surprise for her. She led him in with a smile and mentioned, “Allow me to make the introductions. Mr. Moses, this is the line cook who made the roasted tomato risotto. Christopher, this is Mr. Moses, who asked for the risotto. The risotto you made has absolutely blown him away and he asked me to bring you here to thank you in person!” Mr. Moses had been waiting for Christopher for a long while, so he immediately stepped forward after Luna finished introducing them. He grabbed Christopher’s hand in excitement and shook it a few times vigorously, his emotions all over the place. Needless to say, Christopher was stunned by Mr. Moses’s attitude. Isn’t it just a plate of risotto? Did Mr. Moses have to act like such? “Ms. Sears.” Overwhelmed by Mr. Moses’ enthusiasm, Christopher cast a glance at Luna for help. At once, she wore an alluring smile and closed the door while saying, “Mr. Moses! We could actually sit down and have a nice chat, couldn’t we? We have the night to ourselves after all.” “Yeah, that’s true!” It was only then that Mr. Moses reacted by pulling out a chair to invite Christopher to take a seat. After Christopher sat down, Mr. Moses sized him up and asked, “Hey, young man, what’s your name again?” Upon being addressed as ‘young man’ by Mr. Moses, Christopher didn’t find anything strange. However, Luna and Noah, who both stood aside, stared at each other while astonishment was written on his face. In fact, it was indeed rare for Christopher to be addressed as a ‘young man’ by Mr. Moses because the latter wouldn’t even call the young men in the government offices that. It seemed that Mr. Moses was really content with the line cook’s roasted tomato risotto! “That’s kind of you to call me that, Mr. Moses.” Christopher was not someone imprudent. Although Mr. Moses called him a ‘young man’, the latter still humbly answered, “I’m flattered, but please just call me Chris.” Mr. Moses was already quite impressed with Christopher. Now that he saw how modest the young man was, he found him even more pleasing. Wonderful! What a gracious and modest young man! ”Oh, right. You’re Chris.” Mr. Moses smiled and continued to ask, “Are you from Italy?” “No, I’m from Brentwood,” Christopher honestly answered. “You’re a local?” Mr. Moses was a little puzzled. “So, how did you manage to make such an authentic bowl of roasted tomato risotto?” After having expected that someone would ask about it, Christopher was well-prepared with an answer beforehand. As he only had one packet of Wish Seasoning, he wouldn’t be able to allow Mr. Moses to experience a taste from his memory again, so he had to find an excuse to give Mr. Moses the runaround. In an attempt to feign sincerity, Christopher responded, “It’s nothing, actually. I don’t really know how to make the roasted tomato risotto, but I can say that I cooked it with my heart. When a chef cooks something with his heart, others would be able to feel his passion through his dishes. I don’t know how I managed to produce the exact same taste from that of your memory, but one thing’s for sure—I don’t think I’ll be able to recreate it a second time.” Undeniably, he could’ve won an Oscar for his acting skills. Apart from Mr. Moses, who was lost in reverie after hearing his words, even Luna and Noah also started to view him in a different light. Once someone was found pleasing to one’s eye, there was no doubt that everything the person said would be taken seriously. “With his heart?” Mr. Moses kept muttering those three words. “Well said! Sometimes, even the old chefs wouldn’t even be able to comprehend things as you did. I didn’t expect a young man like you to have such a perception. You’re a rare one indeed!” “Is that so?” Upon receiving compliments from Mr. Moses, Christopher couldn’t help but blush and felt that he was a little shameless. However, in Mr. Moses’s eyes, the reddening of Christopher’s face made him seem more humble than before. Growing fonder of Christopher, Mr. Moses spoke to Luna, “Ms. Sears, can you perhaps lend Chris to me for a day?” “Of course,” she agreed without waiting for Christopher to say anything. “Great!” Mr. Moses clasped his two hands together and added, “What do you say, Chris? You’re not going to reject me for wanting to have dinner with you tonight, right?” Christopher had honestly wanted to turn Mr. Moses down when the latter said he wanted to treat him to a meal. However, when he looked at Luna, he noticed that the perfectly gorgeous woman was staring at him with a smile. Obviously, she was suggesting that he should say yes. Upon seeing that the overbearing boss lady had already dropped a hint, he couldn’t exactly reject Mr. Moses’s invitation. Therefore, Christopher could only nod in helplessness. The smile on Luna’s face instantly deepened when she saw him nod. “Haha!” As Mr. Moses’s mood elevated tremendously, he couldn’t help but laugh and said to her, “Wonderful! Ms. Sears, quickly tell the kitchen to serve the dishes! I can’t wait to have a drink with Chris!” “Alright, Mr. Moses!” With a slight nod of her head, she glanced at Christopher before she went outside. While Luna smiled, Christopher felt a little pathetic. How did he, a chef, end up as an escort? In the Imperial Room at The Serenade, a dinner for three had already lasted for over two hours. He had no idea how much he drank and Mr. Moses seemed hammered while Noah was the only sober one. In fact, during the dinner, Noah didn’t talk much as he merely continued to pour wine for Christopher and Mr. Moses. It wasn’t a big deal to pour wine for Mr. Moses, but it seemed unusual to do it for an insignificant chef like Christopher. Most importantly, Noah never showed the slightest bit of displeasure and constraint throughout the two hours when most people couldn’t have acted in a magnanimous and broad-minded way. “Young man, you did great!” Noah complimented. “I appreciate that, Director Turner.” After having heard Luna addressing Noah as that, Christopher had also followed suit. “It’s not a big deal! I haven’t seen Mr. Moses behaved in such delight for a long while and this is all thanks to you.” With a smile, Noah took out a business card from his pocket and handed it to Christopher. “This is my business card. If you happen to come across any trouble, call this number. In Brentwood, I’m quite influential and I can be of help if it’s within my capabilities.” Quite influential? He was extremely influential! Knowing that Noah was thanking him on behalf of Mr. Moses, Christopher wasn’t pretentious and took the card. When Noah saw that Christopher had accepted his business card, he nodded and didn’t say anything else. Later that night, Christopher didn’t know when the dinner had ended or when Mr. Moses and Noah had taken their leave. At that moment, he was supporting himself against the wall while walking out of the room. There were only one or two customers left inside The Serenade with most of the staff having gotten off work. Clack, clack, clack! As the sound of high heels clacking against the floor tiles rang out, Christopher looked up and saw Luna, who had sent off Mr. Moses and Noah, walking toward him with Scarlett beside her.
